“Ms. Lance, now you may have enrolled in this school, but we can still expel you. So please consider your words. The only reason you are still here is because you seem to be quite a powerful witch.” Ms. Commerce explained.
“Sorry, won’t happen again.” I mumbled.
“Good, detention this afternoon, now off to your next class.” She instructed with a warm smile. I was randomly transported to my potions class. Nothing happened there, it was more of an introduction then anything, so we’ll just move onto flying.
The flying class was pretty… odd and annoying as hell. It was out on a field in front of the school, and we did it with the second year class. We all partnered up and they showed us how. “Do we really have to team up with the second years?” I whined to Sylvia and Vera.
“Yeah, cause they have more experience.” Sylvia explained, while Vera nodded along.
“Sure, but you guys can fly right?” I mumbled.
“Yeah, we are capable of flying. But we’re absolute shit at it.” Vera clarified.
“Hey you girls in the back, three laps around the field for talking.” I sighed, I’m actually super athletic, I just didn’t feel like doing it, I mean I run three miles in the morning anyway.
I walked over to the edge of the field and went full sprint around the field three times. I sat back down on the ground like it was the easiest thing in the world to do so. Everyone looked at me in awe. “What?” I shrugged.
“Nothing, Everyone team up!” Ms. Parlay yelled. I walked over to the nearest 2nd year, but was stopped by a tug on my hood. I fell back, and prepared to hit the floor, but was caught by someone's arms. I looked up and saw Andrea standing there. I shot back, falling backwards again.
“Be my partner.” She ordered, helping me off the ground. I looked around to see that everyone had already partnered up. It seemed as though most people avoided Andrea.
“Fine.” I settled.
“Alright so,” She started, setting down the broomstick on the ground and putting her hand above it, “Just say rise. Rise,” she declared in a stern tone, the broomstick rose up to about an inch below her hand. “Then just hoist up onto it and give it a little kick.” She explained hitting it with her foot as she set off. She came back, “The stronger your magic is the faster you go. Eventually you’ll be able to control the amount of magic you input in it, but for now your body will just do all of it, because you’ve never flown before.”
“Got it.” She placed it down for me, “Rise.” I ordered. It came up to my hand, I gave it a kick after getting on. I shot forward at what felt like the speed of sound. “Ahhh!” Get me down!”
“Jeez, that kid's fast, I’ve never seen anyone go that fast their first time.” Ms. Parlay observed.
“Okay, so now just try to turn, just lean into it!” I heard Andrea yell. I leaned to the left only to flip over.
“Andrea! Get me down!!” I yelled.
“Okay, chill, just think about stopping, that should work.” Andrea explained loudly.
I thought about stopping, but to no avail, “It’s not working!” I yelled, still zooming farther away.
“Damn, her magic must be off the hook.” I could barely hear Ms. Parlay when she said that.
“I’m gonna kill you Andrea!” I yelled. I shifted so that I was hanging on to the broom by my hands. I flung my feet backwards, then proceeded to fling them forward so that I had turned to the right. I did it again so that I was facing the way I came. I proceeded to fly that way until I was above where I had begun. I dropped to the ground, falling on my back. I flipped up, pushing off my palms. “What was that?”
“Well, um, that was what we call unexpected.” Ms. Parlay said, “You must be an extremely powerful witch.”
“I’m out.” I said with a grumble.
“C’mon, we’ve got class.” Sylvia yelled.
“And I’ll be there but I at this moment I’m too pissed off to do anything!” I exclaimed as the wind whirled around me and the ground shook. I felt the air around me heat up, and clouds formed in the sky.
“Those seem like…, elemental powers, but that’s impossible.” I heard Ms. Parlay whisper.
Whenever I get angry, I just go workout. It calms me down so you know, I went to my room. I threw off my shirt, so I was just in jeans and a bra. I placed my potions textbook on the floor and started doing push ups. This way I was studying and working out, two birds: one stone. I was stopped by the door opening, it was Andrea.
“What’re you doing?” She asked, while plopping down on my bed.
“Studying, and working out, what does it look like I’m doing?” I questioned through strained breaths.
“Sure, but you’re topless.” She commented, I turned my head to give her an annoyed look. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s hot.” I slipped and fell straight on my face. I awkwardly stood up, and dusted myself off, “Ha, that was hilarious!” she laughed. I quickly slid on my shirt, looking at my watch.
“I gotta go to my familiars class soon, know anything about it?” I asked, while looking over my familiar textbook.
“Yeah, your first class is just summoning and getting to know them. You know naming them and such. Just follow the instructions, and you should be fine, have some fun too. I mean that class is the best, you literally just hang about.” she explained.
“That’s cool, can you show me yours?” I asked, looking at her expectintaly.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” she gave me a sly grin, “I’m messin’. ‘Familiar, my familiar, come from your world to mine once again.” A puff of smoke appeared and then a small amur leopard manifested. “My familiar is actually quite extraordinary. Most witches get a cat, or a dog. It represents my calm demeanor, and my powerful magic abilities.” She smiled and petted it happily. I checked my watch once more and found that I was late. Before I could rush off to class, I materialized in class outside.
