Chapter 11: Unveiled

Preparation for the battle completed. We headed to the courtyard early.

“Okay, we need to set up our position, the plan is to flank it from the front and the back simultaneously.” Cat said. She was an officer in the army after all so we left it to her to plan the attack. “Yukie attack from the front, me, Marad, Winston from the back.” she pointed to random stone on the ground. “Sam, you stay within the area, dont get too far, and get ready with your water healing.”

“What do I do?” Amanda asked.

“Since you are a Fire user, its not very effective for physical combat, so im assigning you to clear this area from other students and most importantly try to find the mastermind.” Cat said. “The mastermind must be in the proximity to summon, so report if someone suspicious in the area during the fight.”

“Everyone into position.” Yukie said.

Then we wait, we waited until it got dark. Amanda did a good job, there was no one passed through the courtyard. Then a buzzing sound echoing through the courtyard. A purple summoning portal on the ground lighted up. Two armored hands sprouted from the portal on the ground.

“You guys said there is only one Durandal right?” Cat asked. “Why there are two coming out from the portal?”.

We were also baffled. Something changed. Did we do something wrong? Why there are two now.

“Shit, plan change! I will take one, you guys take the other one.” Yukie shouted.

Yukie and Cat started preemptive attack before the demons fully out from the portal. Yukie started with jumping attack from above aimed at the head of Durandal but it caught the sword empty handed. Yukie then pulled her sword and thrusted to the armored stomach of the demon. “Shockwave thrust”. An explosion of wind formed behind her elbow and she pierced through the demon's armor making a permanent hole in the center of the body. “Yes I got the core! One down!”. She looked back at the lifeless armored demon but suddenly it came back to life and struck Yukie with the shield. Yukie managed to block in time but she got pushed back.

At the same time, Cat rushed in and threw a strong punch to the eye socket of the demon. It landed. THUD! Another one THUD! The punches made a dent to the helmet but the demon grabbed her hand and punched her in the stomach with the other hand. “GUAH!”. We can hear her ribs cracked. Then it threw her away like a rag doll. Sam quickly went to her and started healing her.

Winston then casted “Earth Grab.” two stone hands sprouted from the ground grabbed the feet of Durandal. “I stopped it! Quick now! I cannot hold too long!”.

I quickly formed 3 earth spikes and floated them on the air. I pushed them with my C-Rank wind magic. BRAK! BRAK! BRAK! All 3 spikes hit Durandal but the spikes broke down upon impact. My magic not strong enough. Then suddenly Cat rushed in from behind passed through me and she jumped and rolled in the air “Heel Drop Kick!” it was a very powerful kick form the air and pushed by the wind magic. The Demon tried to raised its shield, I moved up and then copy Winston “Earth Grab” Two hands arose from the ground and held the shield hand down. The demon can only blocked with it's other hand. Just before impact, Winston released his magic and casted another one “Stone form, Axe”. He formed a sharp stone that looked like an axe on Cat's leg.

KABLAM!! the ground shook. After the dust settled, we saw the demon cut into half until it's waist, the core in the helmet destroyed, but we missed the core in the body just slightly. Cat's leg stuck in the armor, she tried to get herself out but the demon grabbed her neck.

“It is still alive! The core exposed! Im out of mana!” Winston shouted. I quickly formed an earth spear and rushed to the demon. Its other hand destroyed and the other hand grabbed Cat. As I approached near it, it released Cat and the hand tried to protect the core. Then suddenly there was a sword stabbing from behind the demon. It was Yukie. The demon crumbled into dust.

“Huf, huf, thats one down for real.” Yukie said. “Guys heal up, Marad you still have mana?”. I nodded. “Good, restrict its movement”. She paused “Lets finish this.”

The demon then threw away the sword and shield. We were confused. Why would it threw the weapons away? Then green light started to glow all around the armored Durandal.

“This is.... Wind body enhancement?” Yukie said. “Below S-Rank we can only push our body with wind magic to become faster, but this is even higher level, it makes your body wind attribute and fast as a wind”.

The demon charged straight to Yukie and she blocked the demon's punch her sword. CLANK! Then the other hand of the demon tried to punch her side. “Fire Armor! GUAH!” the punch landed on her side, she crashed on to the ground but it seemed the demon's arm also burned, it still intact but it cracked a little bit.

“Hah! Its not immune to magic anymore, use fire magic to extinguish the wind!” she spat blood.

“Earth Grab!” I casted. The demon was too fast for the earth hands to grab. It headed toward me with unbelievable speed. “Fire Arrow!” I summoned 3 arrows coated with fire and released them on the demon. It deflected upon impact. The demon punched me on the cheek and before I flew away, it bashed me with both hands on to the ground. “GUARGHH”. I spew blood.

“Marad! Load! Before it kills you!”, Yukie shouted.

I tried to say the word but before I completed the word another punch landed on my face. “ARGHH”. Then another punch. BAM! Punch! Punch! Everything pitch black. Am I dead?

I can hear faint shouting “Marad!” “Sam, Heal him!”

Then a soft voice echoing in the darkness.

“Is this really the savior of earth?”, a woman voice can be heard in the dark.

“He is not worthy!”, an angry man voice.

“Give him time, he is only a few weeks in this world”, a child like woman voice echoing.

“Kid, i'll take over your body, watch and learn, I can only do this once, my essence is too weak”, a rasp man voice said. “Come visit us on where you called 'Gods remains'”

Then I regained consciousness but I was not in control of my body. A punch about to hit my face.

“Stop.” I said calmly. Everything came to a stop. Nothing moved. Then I stood up and put my left palm on my face “Rewind” My body felt better than ever before, all the damage were gone.

Then I walked slowly toward Durandal and touched it “This Durandal was modified. It must be the work of the death surgeon, one of the apostle, they are on the move, you need to be careful.” I said. “I dont have much time, this power is too strong for whatever I have left, you need to visit us to unlock these powers”.

“Decay”, I casted. Then Durandal body started to decay very fast like it is eaten by time itself on the course of thousands of years.

“Remember what I said, see you later, kid”, I smiled then casted “Resume”.

Everyone was looking at me. Confused.

“Where is it? Why is it gone suddenly?” Yukie asked. “And are you okay? It smashed you a few times.” She checked my wound but cannot find any that suggest injury. “What the heck....”

“I'll explain later, the gods of this world helped me” I said.

“Are you guys all right?” Amanda ran towards us.

“Yes, we survived, Thank You for asking!” Winston replied.

“I.. I saw someone lurking behind the building” Amanda Said.

“Who?” everyone curious.

“Teacher Latimer” Amanda Said.
