“Why is it so cold down here!” I asked myself. It’s been about a day now. People will surely arrive soon, I hope.
As I said that I looked down at myself, studying myself further. My hair was still that dark black like my mother’s but my eyes were now purple, a sign of royalty by dragons, and I still had the clothes that Irilath gave me so I wasn’t naked. My body felt so much stronger now, I could jump at least twelve foot in the air now, I was also a lot faster too, I was able, at my full speed to get from one distant point to another in the blink of an eye almost like teleporting, although it is very tiring. My strength had also been upgraded. I was now as strong as a dragon could be.“This way!” a voice said in the distance. It was a masculin voice
“Is that who I think it is?” I asked myself. Full of hope and fear
“Commander Lightbearer! Wait a second please!” a female voice said. With concern and a little bit of fear.
“A powerful magic beast appeared right under the castle, I already lost someone of my blood, my own son to a beast and I am not losing a friend so don’t tell me what to do!!!.” My father said in a fatigued and angry voice.
“I’m sorry master” the other voice said with grief and sadness in her voice
The female voice then said, taking back her serious voice, “We’re here...It’s close.” This was my father's apprentice, the other royal guard, her name was Thalia. Her and I had been childhood friends during our time in school until we grew up and she was enrolled as my father's apprentice and I began my adventurer cariere, I had seen her less and less after this. Thalia was a very kind and understanding girl but when she battled her face only showed an icy glare.
I was trying to hide the best I could but there was nowhere to hide, not even a crevice. I was scared of my father’s reaction, what was he going to do and my eyes! What was he gonna say about that! Before I knew it a voice roared behind me.
“Hey!!! What are you doing here? Magic beast scum!” My father said with a rage filled voice.
“Commander! The mana… It’s coming from him or this.” Thalia said before getting cut short by my father saying angrily. “I know the mana is coming from THAT!” He insisted on the ‘that’ like I was something out of a nightmare.“Turn around with your hands in the air so I can see them!” He ordered.
I closed my eyes, preparing for the inevitable and turned around. Waiting for my fathers reaction, I was sorry in advance.
“ H-hi dad.” I said with a scared voice. I made a pause before continuing in an awkward tone, “How are you doing?”
“S-son? I-is that you?” My dad said, his voice cracked while saying that. “That can’t be, you died three months ago!” He took his sword out of its sheath, his sword was a shinie blood red made out of blood steel that was offered to him by the king and looked at me ready to attack, but nothing happened. He was standing still and His legs were shaking. He looked at his sword and then looked at me, he was scared so I tried talking to him.“It’s me dad. I’m your son, Ithan Lightbearer.”
My father’s brown eyes filled with tears and he dropped to his knees. His crimson sword fell out of his hand and he said. “ What do I do?”
“You really are a scum you know that, you bastard magic beast! How dare you transform into the o-my master’s son!” she had rectified herself mid-sentence and looked a little embarrassed. When Thalia finished her sentence she lunged at me with her sword out her sword had an icy blue colour that reflected her magic. Thalia was a real prodigy, she was seventeen like me but her magic and sword skills were on a whole other level, She could weave water and ice magic as easily as breathing. She had icy blue eyes like her sword and light teal hairs.
“Time lock.” I said with a concerned voice directed at my father. She stopped in mid air like if frozen in time, Because it was exactly what happened. It was one of the powers that Irilath gave me that let me freeze things in time but I had to be careful with this power because it consumed a lot of my newly formed draconique mana pool. Thus I was not able to hold it for very long.
My father looked at me with his eyes wide open. He was crying and shaking in fear. “I can’t hurt you. I'm sorry I don’t want to hurt you. I can't do it. Not after what I did to you.” He sobed. As I got closer and closer I could hear Thalia yelling her lungs out pleading for me not to do anything or she’ll kill me.
I was now beside him and I got down to my knees like him and took him in my arms before saying. “You don’t have to feel guilty.” I did the same thing that Irilath had done with me. I shared shards of memories of my meeting with Irilath and my arrival here. When I was done, he looked at me and asked “S-son is that you?”
“Yes it’s me dad, I’m back.” I answered with a gentle voice and a smile.
“I’m sorry I should have been more careful about you, given you better equipment coming with you more often, anything to prevent that from happening.” he said with his voice shaking as he bowed his head not wanting to look at me in the eyes.
“You don’t have to worry about me anymore dad, and if you worry think about my new strength.” I said while looking directly at his eyes. I had kept my eyes shut the whole time we were talking and during the whole battle sensing my environment with my mana sensing abilities until now when I opened them for him to see my new electric purple eyes.
I saw a bit of fear and guilt in his chestnut eyes before he said. “Yeah your right.”
“Hey! What’s going on over here!” Thalia said while walking towards us, my draco pool had run out of mana and it had released her. “Commander! Are you all right!” The girl said while helping my father back to his feet. “ And you…” she made a pause scanning from head to toe. “We’ll talk after this.” she said looking at my purple eyes.
My father, now back to his feets asked me. “How long have you been here?”
“About a day or so.” I answered in a bored exaggerated voice that made my childhood friend laugh.“What now?” I asked
“We go back up of course!” My father said with a new regained strength and happiness.
“Ok let’s go then.” I said happily.
The next day of going back up was spent by telling my dad what happened, I told him that I was the Dragon King’s Heir and explained what it meant, Thalia also asked me some questions along the way like what my abilities were, I told her to wait and that she will soon find out. For the remaining of the day I trained in the elements of magic I was not familiar with those benign fire, electricity, life and dark
When we emerged to the surface,my father requested an audience with the king and told me to come with them to meet him. “From what I understand, you are royalty now.” he said with a smirk. Thirty minutes later, the audience had been accepted and the king was ready to see us.
“You are now in the presence of King Icarus Kirkston, bow to your knees.” I voice announced.
I bowed and waited for the king to get in his throne with his advisor beside him.
“Rise.” The king announced
My father then spoke, “Your majesty we come here to announce that the magic beast that appeared under the castle has been securised.”
“And where is that magic beast Royal guard?” The king said with a superior tone
“Beside me your majesty.” My father answered
I got up and said, “I am Ithan Lightbearer, son of Dean Lightbearer and Heir of the dragon god.” then bowed down.
“Dragon god? Are you lying, child?” The king asked with a haughty tone. I was about to say something when my father interrupted me and said, “With all due respect to your majesty, my son died three months ago and reappeared in front of me in the caves under the castle and he also showed me memories of his encounter with the dragon god.”
“In the caves? Memory sharing? Tell me more.” the king ordered coldly
My Father started to tell what had happened in detail to the king, when I felt something… off. The king in itself looked fine but something was weird about him, like he was two people. Two people were sharing his body. The real king was held hostage in his own body by a dark magic mage somewhere near.
“Is that all Commander?” he asked, when my father finished his story.
“Yes your excellence.” my father responded with a humble and respectuous voice.
“Then leave at once!” the king said angrily.
“Yes my king.” my father said and we left the throne room.
When the door closed behind us and we were farther, my father said. “The king sure did change hasn’t it?”
“You are right, maybe it is because of what happened with his daughter and wife.” My childhood friend said raising a brow
“What happened?” I asked
“He banished his daughter and wife for treason but everyone knew that it was just a way to get rid of them.” My father answered with a sad face
“Why did he banish them?” I asked again, frowning.
“Nobody knows.” Thalia answered
“He was stuck in his own body, he didn’t make that choice.” I told myself. ”I have to help the king and liberate him.”
