“In our world, there exists a substance called mana. Mana was there before us, It was created when the universe began and will die when this same universe will fall into eternal silence. Some people that we call users are able to bend the mana to their will and make it into almost anything, we call this ability magic. We have discovered recently that magic is hereditary, meaning if any of your parents have an ability for magic you have a chance to have this ability as well.” The magic priest said with a passionate voice before continuing his description of magic.
Your abilities to bend mana can be determined when holding different element crystals. If you react to water crystals this means you will be able to wield water and maybe ice. The same for the other elements. Those elements are fire, water, earth, wind, electricity, ice, metal, sound, blessing ‘also called light’ and curse ‘or dark’.” The priest of the church of mana was in the streets talking about magic to some drunkard roaming around late at night trying to find their way back home.
“What a pathetic bunch, drinking until this late.” I said out loud. The capital of the sun kingdom was even active at night. Some stores were still open, the usual merchant being replaced by a night shift employee. Magical artefacts using light magic, lit the streets of the city. Beggars were silently sleeping in the alleyways between buildings. The sky had no moon tonight. I would have had no problem flying over the city but I had to make sure that nobody would see me.When I knew the safest route to the castle, I got out of the city and walked far enough so that people would not report a giant dragon appearing out of nowhere.
“This must be enough.” I told myself while preparing to run. I began running and when I jumped in the air as high as I could I transformed in my reptilian form to fly up in the sky.
About thirty minutes later I was back in my human form by the king’s side. He was sleeping soundly in his bed, nobody could have seen that he had been taken over by a strong shadow user. I brought a chair close to it’s bed and put my hand on his forehead.I called, “Is there someone here other than the one controlling this body?”
At first there was nobody answering, but I felt a conscience slowly waking up.
“Who is there?'' the voice said. This voice was definitely the king’s voice but he sounded a lot more kind and empathic then the one occupying his body currently. He also sounded lost, trapped and hopeless like a wrongly accused person sentenced to prison. “I am a friend here to help you escape this prison of yours.” I said in a reassuring voice.
“Thank you! Thank you blessed heart!” The man said in a voice that had regained hope.
“First of all I need to know who has taken over your body.” I said in a more serious voice.
“Yes of course.” the man said in a serious voice as mine. “The man who is in possession of my body is my advisor.”
“The snake looking guy?” I asked.
“Yes it’s him, he not only has the tongue of a snake he also has the venom.” he said in regret and anger.
“Is he responsible for the banishing of your wife and daughter?” I asked with an empathic tonetone.
“Yes he is.” The king once again said in an angry voice
“Once all this is done I will find them and bring them back to you.” I said in a voice that expressed my concern and empathy towards the trapped king.
“You will? Oh! Bless your kind heart!” the man said his concern was completely gone at this point.
“The night is drawing closer. I will go now.” I said to the king whose voice had regained faith and hope
“Wait! I don’t know your name!” the soon to be free king said.
“I am the Dragon’s heir.” I said before jumping out the window and shaping in mid air.
While flying back to the clearing, I observed the landscape around me, and looked at the new domain that I had access to. I could see the snowy border far away to my right. My world ,or how Irilath etched in my mind, My planet was separated into two continents. The eastern one called Sekailla where the humans lived and the western one called Tysarath where the intelligent magical beings like elves, dwarves and most importantly dragons lived in harmony with each other compared to humans that start wars almost all the time. The sun had been up for a good half an hour now. I was flying high enough so that the farmers and travelers, if they looked up, would just see another bird flying at high altitude.

When I arrived at the clearing, I saw my dad doing some sword practices on an old tree stump.“Hey dad! That's my landing spot!” I spoke in my draconique voice that was a lot deeper and rougher than my normal voice.
“Oh my gods son is that you?!” he said with a shocked expression on his face as he looked up to me. I landed right in front of him and transformed back into a human form before saying, “Yes it is me.” with a proud smirk.
“WoW I wasn’t expecting that this early in the morning.” my dad said with his jaw dropped. I chuckled and told him that we had more serious affairs to attend to.
Three hours later, me, my father and Thalia were in front of the throne room waiting to be let inside for the audience with his fake majesty. Soon enough, the door opened and we were let in. The false king ,who was already setted in his throne, was looking at us with a slight grin on his malevolent face, he was hiding something. My dad started talking,“Thank you for allowing us another audience on such short notice your majesty.”
“It’s nothing, plus there is something I want to talk about.” the impostor said in his still superior tone and luxurious clothes.
“First we would like to tell you that my son is not a threat in this kingdom, he will work by our side and note against us.” My father said. “Can he be more obvious?!” I told myself.
The king then spoke and said the most obvious and cliched thing he could have ever said, “In this case, Dean Lightbearer and Ithan Lightbearer you two are now banished from this kingdom and will remain like this until the end of times!” He looked at us with a wide grin that although inofensive, sent chills down my spine. As he said this guards stepped forward and cuffed us.
“See I told you he wouldn’t care!” I said to my father in a ‘I told you so voice’.
“But still we had to try.” my father said while frowning as if he was pouting. “ we can go your way now.” He had before the fight broke“Thank you dad.” I said while looking at him with an exaggerated smile of a young three years old before turning my attention back to the fake king.
I broke through the metal cuffs with a simple flex of my arms and began gathering mana around myself. First I touched the guard in front of me sending an electric burst from my hand, the guard was propelled backwards and hit some other guards on the way. Then the court mage stepped in as he threw icicle spears in my direction. Thalia was about to intervene to stop the icy spears but my father blocked her with his arm and slightly shook his head before saying. “Don’t worry, let him do his thing.”
When the ice projectiles entered my range, I lit two blue flames in both my palms before creating a vacuum around the growing flames to suck in the icicles. The court mage was closer than I had expected because he got sucked in the vacuum as well, I stopped the vacuum and let my father catch the flying mage before parrying with my bare hands the sword of one of the guards that was left. “Damn I need a sword.” I told myself before punching the confused guard with a water cald fist.
More guards erupted through the door, those ones however were well prepared to fight and my mana pool was almost empty. That is when I saw something that I liked. The throne room was quite wide and high so I had plenty of space to transform. “Shape!” I yelled out loud and before they knew it, they had a bigger problem to deal with than just a rebellious teenager and his father.
***
“What you thought the title Dragon’s heir was for nothing.” I said in my deep and menacing draconique voice.
Guards began to rush towards me and hit me with their sharp mana infused swords but it was for nothing, My scales are tougher than any metal on this part of the globe.
I used my tail as a sharp whip and slammed it on a guard that was attacking me behind before wrapping it around him and launching the dazed guard on one of his companions.
Slowly but surely I made my way towards the impostor while flicking the best guards of the whole kingdom guards out of my way, and benign sur a don’t crush a guard along the way.
I had my eyes fixed on the king the whole time I walked towards him, but at the last second I diverted my gaze towards the advisor and took him in my hand like a straw doll. His hautain expression was gone, replaced by one of pure terror. The guards had stopped attacking me out of fear of the possibility of me crushing the advisor to death. I spoke in the most blood filled voice, “Let him go or YOU will SUFFER.”
The advisor was named Tylus, he had slick black hairs and a poison green glare with a vicious snake like expression. He was specialized in curse magic, he could use this magic to play with the mind of people and make them forget things or take control of them, But like any magic, if the user is unconscious the spell stops.
Tylus was in so much fear that he could barely manage to say. “ I-I-I didn’t know you were with the great lord Ugolath! Please forgive me!” I looked at the man and asked. “Who are you talking about!?”
The man regained his little smirk and said. “So you are not with the Lord, The one who shall rassemble the dragons under one goal. Reclaime the earth from the impure races of the fake gods.”
“You are a fool that is what you are.” I said while approaching him to my body and releasing a strong wave of mana, enough to make him lose consciousness. His link to the king's body severed and the king took back the controle. It took a moment for the king to regain all of his bodily functions and say in a reconnancente and hopeful voice“Thank you my friend, I will remember this for my entire life and I shall always be in your debt!”
I turned back into human form and looked at him in the eyes to be sure he was back and it wasn’t another trick before bowing and saying. “Welcome back your majesty, it was an honor to aid you in this time of need.”
