~Chapter 11 1/2 Dustin’s POV~
Rays of sunlight shone through the slight crack in the curtains. As the birds chirped and sang with delight from outside the house in the woods. When I first opened my eyes they stung from the sudden exposure light. My whole body was sore. My neck was in a lot of pain and was stiff from sleeping in a bad position. I had no recollection of what the events of the previous day were.
When I get my heat I always forget what happens the days of my heat. So it must have been at least three days that I was unconscious. I stood up out of the bed and stretched. I headed in the direction of the bathroom. My sight was blurry for a second because I stood up so quickly. I opened the door and walked in. The door slowly closed with an eerie-sounding creak. The house must be old because the doors and floorboards creak.
Plus the design of the house was older before most people moved into apartments. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked refreshed but I was sore. A piece of my hair fell in front of my eyes. I brushed the piece of my brown hair to the side. My hair will need to be cut soon. I didn’t have any bruises from the look of it but my neck did have a mark on it. It looked more like a bite mark than a bruise or bug bite.
Plus it is almost winter so there wouldn’t be that many bugs around. I will have to ask Blaze about the bite mark later after I thank him. Then my attention was drawn to the smell of bacon. I walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs. I was gripping the railing for dear life. The polished wood was slippery with the cotton socks I had on my feet. I let out a sigh of relief when my feet were touching the floor.
I followed the scent of bacon to the kitchen. I heard the crackling of the grease and the sound of Blaze humming. I stood there for a few moments listening to him hum his tune before I talked to him. “Whatcha making over there Blaze?” He spun around and stared at me. “You’re awake!” He rushed over to me and gave me a grizzly bear hug. The hug was comforting to him I think. I hugged him back gently. “How long was I asleep for?”
“Five long days,” he replied. “We can talk about that later I have to show you some things first though.” Blaze turned off the burner on the stove and grabbed my hand.
