“We should hang out formally sometime Unless you're busy with your other friends,” Alfred said as they walked down the hallway. Rigby looked at the ground to avoid making eye contact as they walked. He had no idea what to do, this was the first time he had ever had a real conversation with someone his age. The only person he had any conversations with was the school janitor Adam, who was a pretty interesting person. yet here he was having a real conversation! Not a forced one or someone trying to bully him, but an actual friendly conversation. With Alfred Reynolds no less! Alfred was decently popular in school and Rigby had wanted to be his friend since the second grade, of course, Rigby never dared to introduce himself and he was too scared of Alfred’s other friends to ever approach him or even look in his direction. There was something about Alfred that had made him feel comfortable, that made him believe maybe he did want to be his friend.
“I...uh...I don’t technically have any friends, but I wouldn’t mind hanging out sometime I guess.” Rigby said, answering Alfred’s question as he kept avoiding eye contact.
“Well, now you do have at least one friend!” Alfred said as he smiled at him, “besides you seem like a cool person.” Alfred said as he placed a hand on Rigby’s shoulder. Rigby felt his face flush bright red as he felt a weird electric-like current flow through him when Alfred placed his hand on his shoulder. It must have just been his imagination, but someone touching him and not hurting him was a new thing to him.
“Uh...um… thanks?” Rigby said, trying to shake away the previous weird feeling, it's not that it was a bad feeling it was just awkward.
“You don’t get compliments often do you?” Alfred asked, slightly laughing.
“Not at all actually, nobody has ever talked to me for this long before and been nice,” Rigby said as he began to panic. Why did he say that he didn’t know Alfred at all, he shouldn’t be just spilling absolutely anything to him. Why was he messing up already!?
“Hey that's alright, the more we hang out the more you’ll get used to it,” Alfred said as Rigby smiled at him a little. There was something about Alfred that made him want to smile. How long had it been since he had genuinely smiled? Rigby felt his smile quickly drop away as they walked into Mr. Matthews's class and Patrick glared at him. Patrick was probably trying to figure out how he had gotten out of the locker he had stuffed him into earlier. Patrick's glare quickly turned into a smile as he saw Alfred. Rigby felt his heart beginning to race, what if this was just a big ruse too lure him into another prank? Alfred was friends with Patrick, could this just be a big prank on him he could just be gaming his trust and then torture him later. However, Alfred didn’t seem like the kind of person who would go along with something like that but yet it's always the people you least suspect. Yet Alfred seemed like he genuinely wanted to be his friend. Even though it was likely he was doing this just so Patrick could wail on him once again, there was a part of him that was sure Alfred wasn’t a bad person. The question he had to ask now was which part of himself he was going to listen to.
“Alright everyone, too your seats please.” Mr. Matthew’s said standing at the front of the classroom as the bell rang. Rigby kept his eyes on the ground as he scurried to his seat, he didn’t want Patrick to come after him again today.
“Alfred hat off please.” Mr. Matthews said as Alfred sat down at his desk. Alfred smiled as he grabbed his hat and launched it across the room, Patrick and the rest of his goons burst into laughter as Alfred’s hat landed on Mr. Matthew’s head. Rigby felt his cheeks flush red as he stared at Alfred. He had never fully paid attention to how he looked before, how he didn't notice the way the sunlight glinted off his wavy light brown hair, or how his hazel grey eyes looked like rare gemstones. Everything about him was perfect, he looked like a model from a perfume or cologne commercial.
“Rigby, you alright?” Alfred asked him as he caught him staring at him. Rigby felt his cheeks grow hot in embarrassment as he quickly looked away from him and at his desk.
“Uh… um... Yeah, I’m alright.” Rigby mumbled as he stared at his desk in hopes Alfred didn’t think he was a creep.
“Thank you for that amazing display, Mr. Reynolds, now please put the hat away.” Mr. Matthews said as he held Alfred’s hat out for him so he could take it back. Alfred smiled and nodded his head as he got up from his seat and walked to the front of the class to get his hat.
“Alright, now let's continue yesterday's discussion…” Mr. Matthews said as Alfred made it back to his seat and he began to scribble something on the board. Rigby slumped in his chair as he began to mentally check out from class. He had just met Alfred, and yet he couldn’t help but like him. He didn’t have a crush on him, did he!? There was no way right? They had just met and everyone knows you can’t fall in love with someone you just met. Rigby shook the possibility out of his mind things wouldn’t work out between them if he had a crush on him anyway. Alfred was popular and almost all the girls in the school had a crush on him especially Elinor, however, he couldn’t blame them Alfred was handsome. It didn’t matter anyway because he was positive Alfred was straight as the flag pole outside the school. Rigby jumped in his seat and snapped back to reality as Mr. Matthew’s began to yell at Patrick about interrupting him. Rigby rolled his eyes, of course, Patrick couldn’t go one class without getting in trouble. Eventually, Mr. Matthew’s calmed down and returned to the lesson.
“Alright now back to announcing partners for the project. Patrick and Jake, and no your not allowed to switch partners with anyone Mr. Woods.” Mr. Matthew’s said, shooting Patrick a quick subtle glare before he continued. “Earl and Randy, Kelly and Elinor, and finally Alfred and Rigby. The projects are due in three weeks, class dismissed.” Mr. Matthews announced as the bell rang. Rigby had been zoned out so long he had no idea how fast the class went. Rigby quickly grabbed his bag and walked out of the classroom and into the crowded hallway.
“Hey Rigby, wait up!” Alfred shouted as he pushed through a crowd of students in the hallway.
“Hey, do you wanna meet up at my place after school? We can work on the project and hang out for a while.” Alfred asked as they walked down the hallway together.
“Uhh.. sure I guess. I don’t need to be anywhere after school so I’m free.” Rigby said as a huge smile spread across Alfred’s face.
“Awesome! I'll meet you by the berry bushes at the front of the school at the end of the day, alright?” Alfred said as Rigby slightly smiled at him. “Sure,” Rigby said answering him, he could barely speak. He couldn't believe he was going to hang out with him after school, and at his house no less! He was going to get to hang out with someone for once, and not get bullied or beat up.
“Alright, see you later Rigby!” Alfred said as he patted Rigby’s shoulder and ran off to his next class. Rigby shivered as a warm feeling coarse through his body after Alfred had touched him. He wondered…. Did Alfred feel it too?
Hi everyone! thanks for reading this chapter of "The Lucky Scandal"! I've decided not to have a schedule for updates on this story. what I'm going to do is release each chapter as soon as I finish it. right now "The Mafia's Code is what I need to focus on because it's my main series but I write these chapters in any free time I have. I promise it'll still get updated somewhat often. please like and subscribe if you enjoyed it! :>
Alfred and Rigby are two normal 16-year-old boys who attend BroadRiver Academy. one day they unexpectedly meet and their lives are changed forever. follow their adventures and struggle to live in their homaphobic hometown.
Alfred and Rigby are both characters in my main story "The Mafia's Code" this side story is their backstory of how they met and how they came to be in the mafia in the first place!
you don't need to read "The Mafia's Code" to understand this story, it just gives background information on Alfred and Rigby for those who have read the story already otherwise it can be an entirely separate story. :>
