Soon Elder Yan came back his arms filled with different documents and scrolls. Putting them down on a table he waved Mo Shin Yun over. "This is all research I have on the cultivation poisoning. Let me organize this and then we can see what we can do to help you." With that, he gave Mo Shin Yun a short smile before returning his attention to the papers. After a few minutes elder Yan sat down looking at Mo Shin Yun with a serious expression.
"First I need to tell you that there is no cure for cultivation poisoning. At least not one that is mentioned in any of these texts. But before you start worrying there are ways to subdue it and ways to work with it. It is not a lethal disease if treated properly but it will affect your cultivation. Before we go into details about what therapy we will have to administer I want you to understand exactly what cultivation poisoning is. At least as good as possible since it is a disease rare even in ancient times. Cultivation poisoning is not as normal folk believe it to be Qi deprivation. Those are two different things. Cultivation poisoning is a blockage and instability in your cultivation base. It will not affect your general health but it will have an effect on your soul power."
'Hundred points for me I managed to avoid HIV for years and now I get the magical version of it' Mo Shin Yun thought to himself a little depressed. This really was exactly how he imagined his transmigration. First, he had to take exams he never learned for, next he nearly died and then instead of at least having special powers or something like that he got a magical version of HIV or probably more like an autoimmune disease. He wasn't even sure.
"There are two ways to work through this disease since you are still only a magenta level you should consider using the first method. Because the second is using a plant only found in the Beast Mountains." Elder Yan continued seeing that Mo Shin Yun was still paying attention. "I will lay out both methods of treatment for you and after that, you can decide which you think will help you the most." Elder Yan started looking through his papers until he found two different stacks. Putting away one of them he handed the other over to Mo Shin Yun.
"This is the first method this one only works if you are still a low-level ShuCha practitioner. This method is called meridian cleansing. Cultivation poisoning gathers in your meridians every time you cultivate and as you can see on your arms once it fills up the meridians it will overflow into your blood vessels and damage you. The meridian cleansing is a method to clean out the cultivation poisoning and stop it from overflowing. How exactly it works is described in this scroll."
Elder Yan handed Mo Shin Yun a scroll before taking the other stack of papers handing it over too. "This is the second method. I would recommend the first until you are strong enough to join the expedition into the Beast Mountains because you will need a special herb only found there for this procedure." Elder Yan leaned over to point out the special herb shown on the papers.
"This herb is called Heart of the Sun and it can be found deep in the Beast Mountains. It's really rare and has little to no use to priests or ShuCha. Because of the bitter taste ShuCha don't use it in their cooking while priests have different herbs with similar effects to substitute this. That's why you won't find it for sale anywhere. From the herb, one can extract oil and with a few other ingredients, one can make a dish called: Seven Sun's in the rain. This dish can subdue cultivation poisoning and cleans your meridians."
Elder Yan let out a soft sigh as he saw Mo Shin Yun's expression. "Don't worry you can still reach a yellow soul level even with cultivation poisoning you only have to be careful and take it slow." Mo Shin Yun nod carefully looking at all the information he got. "Why is it only possible to use meridian cleansing as a low-level ShuCha practitioner?" He asked wondering if all this was worth it. If the cleansing was easier but required him to stay a low-level ShuCha he was ready to compromise.
"I am not exactly sure since we only have little information on this disease but it has something to do with your soul power and the speed of the cultivation poisoning spreading. You should look into the ingredients for Seven Sun's in the Rain even if you are still a magenta ShuCha. Some texts say, that the cleansing will work less and less over time. But as I said since we still don't know how the poisoning happened or what exactly happens, we don't know the exact methods to subdue the disease the only way said to definitely work in the ancient texts in Seven Sun's in the Rain."
Elder Yan put his hand on Mo Shin Yun's shoulder trying to give him some encouragement. "Don't worry I'm sure you can figure this out you are still young." With that, elder Yan went over to the fainted military division disciple leaving him alone to think things over. Mo Shin Yun let out a deep sigh as he carefully started looking through the information he was given again. It wasn't much considering how severe the disease was. Nothing about why his meridians were poisoned or how it would affect him other than his trouble in cultivating. Until now he didn't even realize the trouble he had with cultivating. Since he had a water soul element and a yellow soul his development hadn't felt slow at all.
"And? You won't die right?" Wang Ha Yon sat down across from him with an encouraging look. "Everything else we can manage but death is one thing I really never heard of being cured." She smiled when Mo Shin Yun let out a weak laugh at her joke. She was trying her best to get his mood up with her easy-going, bubbly personality. Mo Shin Yun couldn't help thinking if he was still his old self Wang Ha Yon would be the kind of girl he would fall in love with. But then again, he knew Ma Lin Ha was crushing hard on Wang Ha Yon and he wasn't the kind of person who would steal someone else's crush.
"I'm still too weak to go on the expedition so for now, I will have to rely on the meridian cleansing method." Mo Shin Yun sighed once more. He really just wanted to get the Heart of the Sun herb and find a way to grow it himself so he wouldn't have to worry about his condition anymore but he was too weak and after reading about the Beast Mountains he also understood why the expedition had a level restriction. It was a really dangerous place. They were stretching across the whole continent from north to south and west to east. The east was the heart of the mountains known as the beast dwelling. Not many cultivators would even dare go there. And even the flowing hills where most of the expedition would take place were already deadly even for a mid-level cultivator.
"There might be a way for you to take part in the expedition. If you manage to become a red level and you have an Imperial level or higher martial art cultivator to vouch for you and protect you, they might make a special exception for you if you can make a case and have an elder present it." Mo Shin Yun first was really excited to hear that there might be a way for him to be able to still take part in the expedition but after hearing Wang Ha Yon's words he lost all the excitement he just felt.
"I don't know any of the martial arts division disciple even less any of the mid-level ones. How am I supposed to find a guardian? Secondly, I would have to advance in just a few months. My cultivation isn't strong enough to advance yet. If I'm lucky I might advance to a red level ShuCha next year but even that could be difficult. And lastly, I have no close connections to any elder so who would be willing to present my case?" Mo Shin Yun asked with his head hung low.
"I might be able to help you with one of those but the other two are up to you." Elder Yan spoke up as he heard Mo Shin Yun's words. "I would be willing to present your case to the elder and get you a spot in the expedition but you will need someone of imperial level or higher to protect you. The last problem about advancing is completely up to you. But keep in mind that cultivation poisoning is restricting your cultivation. You might be able to cultivate faster if you cleanse your meridians."
Mo Shin Yun nod feeling like he got scolded just to be offered candy. If what Elder Yan said was right, he might be able to manage to go on the expedition if he found someone stronger than imperial level. "Don't worry." Wang Ha Yon gave him a smile. "I will ask around to see if anyone is willing to be your guardian. Let me ask Ma Lin Ha for help too. Among the two of us, there isn't anyone we don't know." She said looking hopeful. Mo Shin Yun nodded giving her a thankful smile before bowing in respect towards Elder Yan.
"Then I will take your offer, Elder Yan. I will return for advice once I have found a guardian and advanced to a red level." With that Mo Shin Yun bid his goodbye walking to the door. His heart was feeling troubled but hopeful. Today really had a lot of ups and downs and it was only just midday. Not in the mood to eat Mo Shin Yun returned to his room laying down on the bed. He was deep in thought. After everything he learned today, he had a lot to consider. Lifting up his arm he looked at the dirty orange-coloured veins. First, he would have to cleanse the poisoning in his body. It would accumulate again soon but without cleansing it he had no chance what so ever to advance in time.
The same afternoon Mo Shin Yun was on his way to the small village across the hill. This was his first time to go there ever since he had arrived in the sect. It looked pretty much the same as the one he was staying in the only difference was that there were more female cultivators here since the girls were staying on this side of the hill. He didn't need to ask around for long until he was pointed towards the better rooms. Until now Mo Shin Yun didn't even know that the rooms had a different quality, depending on your soul colour the room quality was also different.
With a shrug, he asked one of the passing girls and was right away pointed in the direction of a room. The door was opened shortly after he knocked. "Mo Shin Yun." An energetic voice greeted him with a smile pulling him into the room only a few seconds later. "Lee You Sin." Mo Shin Yun returned the greeting feeling somewhat at ease seeing her energetic and full of life smile. "You only now remember me?" She asked with a playfully scolding expression. "I'm sorry I really meant to come visit but so much happened." He said while getting dragged long to a small table. "Don't worry I should have come looking for you. After I entered the sect, I just was busy pleasing the elder and my older disciple siblings."
Lee You Sin waved her hand handing him a cup of tea. "Drink then you can tell me all about why you came." Mo Shin Yun nodded taking the cup of tea. After taking a sip he placed the cup back down and started telling her everything about the cultivation poisoning. "I need your help with the meridian cleaning." He finally finished. The only reason why he even went to look for Lee You Sin was that he considered her somewhat family of the previous owner of this body. And after taking a look at the cleaning scroll he really didn't want just anyone to help him. Lee You Sin nodded her head after listening to his explanation. "Of course, I help you. You are still my younger brother after all." She gave him a smile trying to hide her worry but Mo Shin Yun could tell right away.
"Don't worry please I won't die but I will have to live with it for the rest of my life and you helping me would mean a lot." He quickly said. The girl smiled again holding out her hand. "Then let me see that scroll of your about how to cleans your meridians." Mo Shin Yun handed it over carefully watching her expression as she read through it. He could only make out concern and concentration. He really made the right decision asking her for help. "Ok, I think I understood the basics of it. This isn't really well written but we will figure it out." She stood up. "Let's move to the cultivation room." Mo Shin Yun followed her with big eyes. "You even have a cultivation room?" He asked as they entered a small room with a diagram on the floor and nothing else in it.
Lee You Sin looked at him a little confused before remembering about the room hierarchy she was told about at the beginning. With a laugh, she just pointed for him to sit on one side of the diagram as she sat down on the other. "Turn your back to me I have to draw the symbol on your back." She motioned for him to turn around giving him an encouraging smile one last time. Mo Shin Yun returned the smile as he turned around carefully taking off his robes baring in back so Lee You Sin could draw the symbol on his back. The mix of cinnabar powder and water was cold on his skin making him shiver a little.
"Hold still this is my first time drawing this symbol I don't want to mess up." She scolded him reminding Mo Shin Yun of his mother scolding him the same way when he had lost patience and started moving around during his childhood lessons. He quickly straightened his back trying not to move around anymore. After a few minutes, he felt Lee You Sin pull back. "Ok, the symbol is finished turn back around." She ordered him in a soft voice. Without hesitation, Mo Shin Yun turned around careful to not smear the symbol on his back. "Don't move this time the symbol is more difficult." Lee You Sin warned him before she dipped her finger into the cinnabar water mixture to carefully draw a symbol on his chest. He tried to even hold his breath so they wouldn't mess up.
After again a few minutes Lee You Sin put down the bowl with the mixture looking at Mo Shin Yun. "You remember when you were young? You always would come home covered in mud and I had to get you cleaned up before grandpa came home and saw you." She smiled softly remembering the past. Mo Shin Yun didn't know what to say. He somehow felt guilty towards her. The boy she knew was no longer alive. The affection and motherly worry her face showed were for a person who had passed some time ago. "Sorry. I didn't mean to reminisce about old times. I just couldn't help but think about how much you have grown. After your mother died giving birth to you and grandpa took you in, he was worried you would grow up crocked for a long time. But look at you all grown up and even taking care of your own problems."
