“Hi guys.” Skyla smiled as she sat down.

“Hello dear.” Effie said with a slight smile on her face. 

“Why so sad Effie?” Zack asked curiously.

“Oh nothing, it’s just that I don’t think you two deserved to go into the games. By the way, they take place tomorrow.” 

Skyla and Zack stayed silent for a few minutes trying to make sense of Effie’s words. They never thought she actually liked them, especially because she has to go through the process of seeing her tributes die every year. They wondered for so long that they didn’t realize that lunch time was over. 

“Alright dears, it’s time for more training.” Effie said breaking the silence.

“Oh uh ok.” Zack and Skyla stammered. They trudged to the training room hoping that the next day would never come.
