Alist Glassheart.
That was the name she wanted to be called if ever she was given a chance to be reborn in a new world or dimension. She never thought that that name would have ever existed, much less in the world of a novel.
Days after the drowning incident, Alist's father and mother were seen routinely discussing about their day-to-day jobs during breakfast time. They talked almost everyday that she even got to know more about them including their names and personalities.
Only when she heard the term 'Talineah' did Alist splurged out oats porridge on her father's face who was feeding her.
She remembered reading that term from one of her read novels, Heroes of the United Continent.
Heroes of the United Continent is a novel bordering in the genres of magical realism and apocalyptic fiction. The unnamed author introduces the readers to Kaiden, a world different from a planet the reborn Alist formerly lived in.
Unlike the ellipsoid-looking shape of Earth, Kaiden's surface is illustrated as flat as a plate. The gods or higher beings were said to have been responsible for its flat figure so that it would be easy for them to observe the people of each continent. No one knows how wide Kaiden was in the novel but it was estimated to be so vast that people from their continents have yet discover the others as there were many faraway mainlands that have been unexplored or have yet to be found.
If there is anything among the existing continents of Kaiden have in common, it would be the communication through one universal language, the world currency called Ascent, and the permanent magic specialities each one possesses.
People capable of using their own magic are called Specialists. There are 6 known specializations of magic: fire, lightning, ice, wind, earth, and water.
These are most common amongst all Specialists that even academies have designated professors towards the specific Specialism type.
There are also rare specializations which were classified as either sub-specializations of the 6 magic types like sound speciality under wind magic or exceptional specializations like light speciality.
Like in any magical realism, strong individuals with great magic specialities are highly exalted in every mainland.
The web novel directs the spotlight on the war threats of the Khaos Empire towards Deo's Four Continents.
Deo was once a huge supercontinent as large as the Khaos Continent before its fateful continental drift or what was known as The Spreading. Deo's great body was divided into four pieces: Eudaria, Talineah, Meralte, and Sidero.
The story begins with a prologue on the first ever Four Continental Leaders Summit where they lively discuss about the existence of the 5th continent called Khaos. The Khaos Continent is also called the Khaos Empire, different from the other four continents which have kingdoms scattered in each mainland.
Khaos was first discovered by an exploration team of the United Explorer's Guild.
The sole survivor of the expedition docked on the Sideron Mainland and alerted all of Deo's Continents that their location has been compromised.
He also mentioned that after a decade of preparations, the Khaos Emperor will send thousands of battle fleets to invade not only the four continents but also the undiscovered ones.
Various evidences specified by the survivor showed that the 5th continent's geography is indeed on par to the size of all Deo's mainlands combined and had complex developments of war machines.
Therefore, it is possible for such a massive empire to capture at least one or two continents and becoming an even greater threat to all of Kaiden.
This ignited grave concerns from all mainland leaders that the Summit continued five months since their first meeting.
As for the reason why it persisted to such a number of months, it was decided that they keep their final decision hidden from the masses as they begin series of private recruitment, secret continent-to-continent inspections, and a whole lot of arsenal to manufacture.
After months of the public's anticipation towards the leaders' consensus, the summit revealed their absolute resolve: every capable Specialist must undergo war training as well as mandatory conscription to join as soldiers against the future raid of Khaos.
These Specialists will include the kingdom's army, the valiant civilians who volunteered for the cause, and the graduates of Specialist academies.
Ever since the existence of Khaos was disclosed to all of Deo's Four Continents, the rise of Specialist Fighters was acknowledged.
They were the beacon of hope to the Specialist civilization.
Therefore, the recruitment of Specialist Fighters proved to be the most highly demanded career throughout kingdoms.
'But then, I transmigrated into the novel before the prologue even started and when the main characters were still babies like me.'
Alist then thought about her parents' reactions to such news by the time she and the protagonists turned twelve which also marks the start of the prologue's scene.
The Glasshearts long inherited water affinity as their specialities for generations so it was natural for them to be in contact with water (including their child's vomit).
Despite not having a status title or at least a barony, they were a special existence that maintained a good relationship with the commoners and the elite Amorians.
This is because the Glasshearts house one of the kingdom's most respected healers and ownership of long-standing fishing businesses.
Kyan Glassheart, Alist's father, was originally from the Celesta kingdom of the Sideron Continent. He started off as a humble fisherman near the docking terminals of the kingdom. Even though he was a distant relative of the Glassheart family of Celesta, he was a forgotten orphan.
With never a thought of seeking any help from the family, Kyan made a living on his own right and grew from a fisherman to a captain of several fishing vessels.
He settled down in the shores of Darya, the coastal town of the continent Talineah's Amory Kingdom, with the intention of living a quiet and peaceful life.
There, he found a woman named Andrina who healed his burdened and restless heart from overworking tirelessly. Though she was a commoner because she had no surname or title, Andrina was a respected Water Specialist in Darya.
Kyan and Andrina both loved each other and wanted to live a peaceful yet happy life together so they got married before anyone could object.
Despite having the ability to purchase a Baron or Viscount title, Alist's parents remained as commoner merchants. This reason may have stemmed from the fact that further involvement in political dealings can disrupt their peaceful lifestyle. Still, their standing did not stop them from having a good relationship with people of higher status than theirs.
After hearing most of Andrina's bedtime stories that end with 'they lived happily ever after', it was obvious that the protagonists were her parents. The plot was based on their story with real information on their lives, including details of how they met each other to the reasons why they both wanted to retire early.
Andrina figured that this was the best way to tell some truths about her's and her husband's lives as their girl was only a little toddler who needed only her mother and father to communicate with.
Alist silently thanked her mother's cute unreasonableness for spilling the nitty-gritty details of not only her parents but also the best water tourist destinations.
Seeing that her parents are finished with breakfast and are now scolding each other for being terrible parents, the youngest member of the Glassheart family sadly speculated the possibilities of her family being the first to be called the cowards of the entire kingdom by the time the mandatory military conscription is announced.
The rise of Specialist Fighters may have sparked a hype to all Specialists in the near future but there are those who were either incapable or reluctant to become one.
Alist knew how protective Kyan was of her, imagining him losing control over the fact that sending their daughter to any academy will still send her to the battlefield.
She also figured that her father will all the more refuse to serve in the future Amorian army.
Alist believes that because of her father's reputation in society, there will be others who may try to exploit her father as a pawn for their ill intentions. She and her mother will even become tools for blackmail if ever that happens.
'There's no way I would not know the heart of human scums. I've read all about them from the tricksters to the green tea bitches to the pervy freaks to the criminal masterminds to bed-climbing sluts and two-faced traitors. I'm not even a year old yet but I can't help but plan for this family's safety. I might even have siblings soon seeing as my parents are young and active in their nightly activities. Geez! I had to cover my ears and eyes from all that moaning. New siblings are indeed unpredictable variables of my Glassheart Safety & Protection Plan.'
Alist continued drawing a great mental map in her small brain. Unfortunately, the grand envisage was left unfinished as the toddler blinked a few more times before falling asleep and knocking off her meal bowl.
'Damn this baby brain! Haaaaaah… Mom and Dad, sorry but you guys have to clean up spilled porridge again.'
