Inside, Marya Zaleska looked down her nose at the man that was writhing painfully from his sudden fall. It seemed that he had learned his lesson, since his eyes were downcast rather than looking straight back at her.
Scent of blood assailed the senses of the Vampire Progenitor which caused her eyes to follow the pathway created by the blood that flowed from the knees of Ruan Yuchen.
"I haven't fed in a while; this human should do for a light meal."
Dropping her head back, the ancient inhaled the sweet scent that came from the blood of the man that knelt reluctantly before her, causing her pearl white teeth to emerge from her mouth as sharp fangs.
The act made the power that had laid dormant for centuries to surge through the room, causing the lights to flicker on and off, but it also affected the rest of the house, as panic ran high within the mansion of the Ruan family.
"I think something has gone wrong with Vice President Ruan, who among you has the spare key?!"
The personal aide of Ruan Yuchen looked from one of the women to the other as he waited on either of them to produce the key to the door, which he tried and found to have been locked from within.
"But Mr. Mo what if Vice President Ruan is not in any trouble. Are you going to take up the blame for opening the door without being asked?"
Both looked at Mo Yijie as their eyes pleaded with him not to make a hasty decision about what could have led to their employer making such a sound. This soon changed when they saw the way the lights were flickering.
"Now can you say that I shouldn't be worried about Vice President Ruan?! Hand me the key! I just knew that he shouldn't have brought that woman back with him!"
Reaching into her front pocket, the maid that spoke to Mo Yijie pulled out a bunch of keys and handed them to him with shaking hands.
"It's the small gold one, Mr. Mo!"
The maids watched closely as the aide of Ruan Yuchen
inserted the key into the keyhole by the door, nervously lacing their fingers
in front of them with eyes that looked anxiously, wondering what laid ahead.
