While cold sweat breaks out of every pore of Sebarius at the mention of the words 'You're under arrest', Crystal and Aiko remain entirely unfazed.
Crystal raises her head and asks, "And why would that be? Under what charge and authority are we 'under arrest'?"
"Conspiration to a terror act and by the authority of—"
"Bullshit," Crystal states, banging her fist on the table and cutting off the armored guard.
"...bullshit?" the guard asks, obviously perplexed by Crystal's response.
"Bullshit. Conspiration to a terror act? Bullshit. That's a pretense to arrest anyone without reason and nothing else. You just really need to make an arrest but have no idea whom you actually are looking for, so you barge in here, pick out a group of people that's talking instead of getting themselves wasted and arrest them 'on good authority'."
The guard, now obviously at his wits end, stutters, "Um, but I...we..."
"Yes? You what? Fox got your tongue or something? Look, we're just having a civilized discussion here so buzz off and harass someone else already."
The guard's head turns a bright red, he rises to his full height again and weasels back to the loudmouth supervising the sole entrance of the place.
Sebarius only slowly calms down, as his brain still tries to process the events of the past minutes, however only with very limited access.
'So much for keeping control of the situation..." he thinks to himself, as he looks at Crystal with a mixture of awe, fear and admiration.
Suddenly, Crystal rises to her feet, followed suit by Aiko.
"Um, where...where are you going?" Sebarius asks, his mind still a complete wreck.
"We're getting out of here. And you should do the same. They're here for a reason. And that reason is either us or you. Regardless of whom they are after, we've been seen together and I've just verbally smacked that idiot, so chances are that they'll come back in force in a few moments. So grab your stuff and get outta here before the situation escalates," Crystal explains in a matter of fact voice.
Sebarius points to his wheelchair and replies, "Yeah well, 'running away' is kinda difficult for me."
"Tough luck then," Crystal replies and turns around to leave, but Aiko extends her hand and puts it on Crystal's shoulder.
"I don't know, Crystal...I kinda wanna hear the end of that story of his. And..."
"...go already," Sebarius says with a long and resignated sigh before adding with a smile, "I've found you once, I'll find you again. And next time I'll even tell you how I've done it...Ms. Zeaphyr Fox."
For the first time since the start of the conversation Crystal actually seems surprised and stares at Sebarius for multiple seconds.
Eventually she raises her hands to a shrug and explains, "Alright, now I kinda want to hear the end of his story myself. Fine, we'll help you get out of here."
"And how? In case you missed it, they're guarding all the exits and they'll be on our back in a matter of seconds."
"Feh. Watch and learn, Mr. Scholar."
Crystal walks over to a table with a bunch of burly men.
Their hunched over stance tells her, that they've already had their fill, but will do the job just fine.
Just like she expected, one of the guards notices her moving and walks towards her with big steps, shouting, "Hey, you there! Back to your seat until we tell you to—"
Crystal waits until the man is about 2 meters behind her, picks up the mug of the biggest of the bunch and splashes the remains straight into his face.
Of course the man and his comrades rise to their feet immediately and the man slurs, "What d'you shink you're doin', huh?!"
Crystal merely smiles at him, evades the grab of the soldier guard from behind with a sidestep, grabs his outstretched hand in one fluent movement and trips him straight into the group of men in front of her before hurling around and delivering a kick into his back.
The intoxicated men fail to keep their balance and fall to the ground with a loud thud and a lot of yelling.
By the minute, the entire bunch surrounds Crystal and Sebarius asks Aiko, "Will she...really be alright?"
"Just keep watching," Aiko responds, a bright smile on her face.
The guards try to grab her, but Crystal evades their moves like a shadow dancing in the candlelight, pushing the slow and heavy soldiers into adjacent tables, causing more and more people to rise.
Then she signals Aiko with her hand, who nods, gets up from her feet and moves around to Sebarius' wheelchair.
"Okay, time for us to go," she explains and starts pushing at the handles, while Sebarius keeps watching in awe, how Crystal gives the group of 10 guards a run for their money and more and more people get into the fight.
While Aiko wheels Sebarius towards the back exit like it was nobody's business, the situation in the bar continues to heat up, as the guards are now not only trying to grab the elusive Crystal, but now also need to struggle with keeping the drunken men who also want a piece of her under control.
Aiko arrives at the back exit, where a meek guard stands, watching the unfolding situation with a horrified expression on his face.
In fact, he is so captivated by the spectacle, that he doesn't even take much notice of Aiko and Sebarius and just steps aside when she pushes him with a quiet apology.
Once back outside in the cool night air, Sebarius turns around to look at the door behind which the fight is still escalating and growing more chaotic and then leans back in his chair, muttering, "I don't believe it..."
"Eh, works every time, really. There is a reason why we like to spend our evenings in bars like that. The other patrons are always good for a distraction."
"But...but why did that guy just let us pass?! I...I mean he didn't even really look at us!"
Aiko chuckles and explains, "Do you know the saying 'a chain is only as strong as its weakest link'? Crystal bound all the strong links into an attempt to capture her. The captain was smart enough to stick to his post, but his goons were not. They never really are. And even if he had given us trouble..."
Aiko finishes the sentence with a wicked grin, which makes Sebarius' blood freeze a little.
I've never been to any bar fights, but considering that it's mostly unhappy people who have 'too much' at bar and are thus also the most easily agitated, I imagine it to be quite easy to start a fight if you know which buttons to push.
A man in a wheelchair enters the shadiest bar in town, where he wheels over straight to two cloaked characters sitting at a table in corner.
He has a job for the two of them...he wants them to hunt an elusive master thief. He wants them to hunt the fox.
