I look to Jade; she is smirking at a text that just came through. Who is she texting? Why hasn't she told me? She tells me everything, right?
Could it be that she's already secretly dating someone?
She would tell me that, right?
As hot as Jade is, she's never been in a long-term relationship. I think it's because she's too busy. Between dance, theater, and chorus, she has a pretty full schedule even though she doesn't show it. Plus, when she's not doing any of that stuff, she's usually with me or her family.
That's not to say Jade hasn't been asked out before. Because she has, many, many, many, did I say many yet? Many times. She's been on countless dates and even had a kiss or two, all of which I had to suffer through a recounting of.
None of them ever stuck. After a couple of dates that was usually it. I've never really had anything to worry about, until Archer.
You see, people ask Jade out, but Jade never ask anyone out. She's never shown any interest or desire to be in a relationship, that is until Archer. All because he is soooo funny.
Barf.
As for me, other than Darleen, no one has ever shown interest in me. I think it's because I keep to myself, I don't put myself out there. Not like Jade does. If I was at a regular public school I would be one of those people who are basically invisible and you forget is even in your class until it comes time for group projects.
Back to the point, if Jade were in a secret relationship with Archer, she'd tell me. So why hasn't she told me what she's been up to lately? What is she keeping from me?
I wish it didn't bother me as much as it does.
For the rest of the meet, I'm not alone with Jade long enough to tell her how I feel, and before I know it I'm being whisked away by Darleen. Jade just said her goodbyes and left.
I think I've figured out why Darleen gets her way so much. This girl is a smooth talker. She lied straight to my mom's face and didn't even bat an eye. She was so convincing that for a second, I actually thought that we were going to be having a team get together at Darleen's house to celebrate the win. Mom agreed to let me go and before I knew it, I found myself alone with Darleen.
"Jade saw us yesterday. She thought we were secretly dating," Those are the first words out of my mouth as she takes my hand and leads me through her house.
"Did she now? What did you say?" she smirks in amusement.
"I freaked out! Told her we were just kissing for practice, which made her kiss me."
"You kissed?" she sounds irritated.
"Which is how she figured out I was the one she kissed at the party! It was a whole thing. I basically came clean about everything. Now she knows I'm gay, and she's okay with it."
"You shouldn't need her approval to be who you are," She says coldly.
"I know, but I'm just glad we are still friends. Maybe... maybe you're right. Maybe I should tell her how I feel."
"Are you sure she even likes you like that?" Darleen challenges.
"I don't know but just so we are clear, Darleen, I don't like you like that," I say.
"I know," She says.
"Then why do you keep flirting with me?"
"Well just like you want to make Jade fall in love with you, I want to make you fall in love with me," She interlocks our fingers and leads me upstairs.
"Darleen, I don't think that will work."
"So, you don't think your own plan will work? Which basically means you don't think Jade will ever fall in love with you. To which I rebuttal, why are you wasting your time?"
"No, that's not, I wasn't trying to---"
"Shh. Either way, you know I am right. Can't argue with logic," She pulls me into her room.
Again, my mouth drops to the floor. Her room is like half the size of my whole house. Her bed is huge! It's amazing! Tiled floor, white walls, a large bay window. It's like teenager heaven in here. A mini-fridge, a desk with a desktop. A 72-inch curved tv. Even a study corner!
"You're drooling," She teases.
I snap my mouth shut.
She pulls me over to her bed. This is a literal cloud from the sky! Oh god, what I would do to have money to blow on a room like this. If Jade could see this she would be awestruck. She wouldn't shut up about for like two whole days.
Jade... before we left the meet, I invited her to come along with us but she told me she had plans and just left. Once again, I felt betrayed that she didn't say anything to me. What plans?
"My parents are out, so it's just us," Darleen draws my attention away from my thoughts.
Just us. The way she says it. Just us. As in we could do whatever we want, PG or not, and no one would know. As in we are alone, alone alone. I gulp.
"Ha, haha," Once again I laugh for no reason. I am pretty sure the nervous sweats will set in soon.
"So maybe we should practice some more" she snorts in amusement and pulls me closer.
"I, dish, yoell, nowdish." English! I need English, not babble.
"You're so cute. Relax, it doesn't mean anything if it's just practice," She teases.
She grabs my chin and we lock eyes.
If it doesn't mean anything then why is my heart beating so fast? Why is my face so warm? Why is she looking at me like that? Like I am the only person in the whole wide world. If it doesn't mean anything, then why do I feel like this?
She presses her lips to mine, softly at first. Just testing the waters. I hesitantly kiss her back. That spurs her on.
What is this?
What are we doing?
I shouldn't lead her on.
I quickly pull back after the third kiss.
"Darleen, we can't. I don't—"
"But we can." She cuts me off by pushing me down on the bed.
I look up at her.
"Stop fighting it, I know you can feel it too. Feel this magnetic pull between us. Please, just pretend even if you don't feel it. Kissing you for practice would be better than never kissing you at all," she says softly.
This isn't right. I need to tell her that we can't do this, that her thinking that, isn't right. Her feelings are important, she shouldn't just force it. Yet I can't get the words out. Looking at her like that breaks my heart.
Maybe a little practice never hurt anyone.
What's the harm in it?
Darleen's a nice person, who am I to hurt her?
She leans in, pressing her lips softly into mine. I close my eyes and wrap my arms around her neck. We kiss, just simple sweet kisses. Then she takes the next step. I feel her warm tongue slide along my bottom lip. It sends an electric shock down my spine and causes me to gasp. She takes her chance and slips her tongue into my mouth.
I squirm uncomfortably under her. It's not that she's a bad kisser, quite the opposite actually. It's just the longer this goes on, the more guilty I feel. I shouldn't lead her on. This is wrong. No matter how right it feels.
I push her back but she doesn't pull away. Instead, she trails kisses down my neck. Each one is like a branding iron on my skin. Burning into my flesh forever a reminder of what I am doing. She lightly sucks the vein on my neck before moving to my lips again.
I turn my head away, causing her to kiss up to my ear.
I gulp and try to push her off.
"Just give in, I know you want to," She pins my hands down on the bed.
"Darleen," my voice shakes.
She blows her hot breath on my ear. I shudder involuntarily. Crud! This is actually turning me on. Stupid horny teenager problems! I wish Jade was here, I wish it were her lips on mine, her voice in my ear, her hands pinning me down.
I turn to look Darleen in the eyes, she stares down at me with an unreadable expression on her face. I look down at her lips and she looks down at mine. I'm so confused, she confuses me. I've never felt any of the things she's making me feel. Part of me knows I shouldn't be doing this if I don't like her the way she likes me, the other part...
Darleen smashes her lips into mine, I don't resist any longer. She lets go of my wrist and soon her hands are all over me. On my back, in my hair, squeezing my hips, rubbing my chest, everywhere. I become a hot mess, melting into her. Her tongue pushes into my mouth and my tongue fights to push it back out.
She is grinding on my thigh. Softly and slowly. We break apart for air with a hard smack sound. I take in large gulps before I dive deeper into her. She moans into my mouth.
Darleen Grayson gets everything she wants because she's a smooth talker. Because she has a face you don't want to disappoint. Because is if someone tells her no, she just takes it anyway.
I push her off, I need more air. She moves her lips to my neck.
A small moan escapes as she nips at my neck.
"I want you," She pulls back to look me in the face.
I shake my head no.
She nods yes.
"Let me have you," She demands.
"Darleen, I don't—"
"Jade doesn't want you. Give me a chance."
"No," I try to sit up.
"I will have you," she slams me back down.
She tries to kiss me again but I move my head away. She tries a second time, but I push her off with so much force she falls off the bed. I quickly take my chance to get up and leave.
"No wait," She tries to stop me.
"I should really go. I got homework and stuff," I move towards the door.
"Skylar wait," She grabs me by the waist.
My heart is beating so fast that I feel like the energizer bunny.
"I want to go home," I pull out of her grasp.
She sighs in frustration.
"Please."
"Fine, I'll take you home." She gives in.
The drive home is awkward, she tries to say something when we get there but I quickly get out of the car and run into my house. Putting as much distance between me and her as possible.
She confuses me.
Part of me knows that her trying to force me is really wrong.
The other part...
