Aster
I had to work before I would go and hang out with Leaf. We had agreed on going to get coffee then going to the park to walk and talk. With only thirty minutes left of my shift I was starting to feel more and more anxious. I couldn’t wait to see Leaf. They were going to come in before I got off so I could give them one of my free drinks, which we were allowed to do as long as it didn’t happen very often.
Then there they were coming in through the door. They wore their boots and a pair of nice black pants, the same black hoodie that you could tell had been washed for today with the buttons back on it, two had switched places, a grey shirt I could only see part of because of the hoodie, and a beanie covering most of their short black hair. Leaf saw me looking at them and I out of habit looked away quickly then looking back realizing what I had done. Embarrassed my cheeks started getting red.
“Hey!” Leaf said, tilting their head up a bit, before reaching the counter. “Hey Leaf” I said back kinda slowly. “Ready to hang?” I could tell how excited Leaf was getting, and how excited they had to be, to wash their hoodie just to hang out with me. “Yeah I am, what will that drink be for you?” I hadn’t told them about getting their drink free from me yet I wanted to see their reaction. “Do you have anything with peppermint?” “Yeah I do, just one, it’s super sweet, is that okay?” “Yeah it is, I like sweet coffees” “Alright I’ll make that for you then clock off after making mine too” I turned to start making theirs, knowing that Leaf was going to realize soon I hadn't made them pay. “Um Aster? Um you didn’t charge me yet.” I turned towards them smiling. “I know, it’s on me” “I can’t let you pay for me thats..” I cut Leaf off “Who said I was paying for these?” I said with a mischievous lilt to my voice. Leaf looked at me wide-eyed and in wonder before leaning in and whispering. “Are you going to just steal them??” “Maybe” I said, loving the reaction I was getting from them. “But what about your job, I don’t want you to get in trouble” I realized their wonder was now turning into concern and decided to go ahead and tell the truth, but they still protested a little about it.

I waddled happily in place with the drink Aster had gotten for me for free. She had at first gotten me to believe that she was just stealing them which I was amazed that she would do that for me, but worried, but it turned out she could do it, and it wasn’t stealing. Aster had just got done with making her drink and was clocking out. I had gotten anxious and excited that I put in extra care for what I wore today, choosing only the best of my things and washing my hoodie as well. My mind was going everywhere, because I was happy, but knowing that this might just go awkwardly scared me. I hoped I wouldn’t make it awkward by accident.
Aster appeared from the back with all of her stuff heading towards the door, and I quickly followed her. “We’ll have to stop by my house first so I can put my stuff up and check up on Charcoal, so you’ll want to come in while I do” “That’s no problem” I pulled open the door to her car, setting my drink in the cup holder before getting in. I was buckling in when Aster pulled something from the back and set it in my lap. It was the candle that I forgot. I quickly thanked her mentioning that I would’ve most likely forgotten it again. I set the candle down in between my feet listening to the music.
We pulled into Aster’s driveway. I brought my drink with me while heading into Aster’s. Once I stepped in through the door Charcoal was swirling between my legs, meowing to try and get someone to pet her. Aster sat her work items down onto her counter in the kitchen. I crouched down to pet Charcoal, keeping her occupied while Aster did what she needed.
Aster walked around the house doing various things. I was having fun messing with Charcoal and getting her to chase a toy mouse, I had sat down on the floor so I didn’t lean over the whole time. I felt Aster’s presence behind me before I heard her start speaking. She was holding a giant fluffy blanket even with it folded, It was huge.
“What are you doing with that?” “This” She smirked then dropped the blanket on me before she started giggling. I was struggling to get out from underneath the blanket as I was also laughing. “Why’d you do this??” My bewilderment, hard to hide. “Because I could” She helped me get my head out from under the blanket before continuing.”Also we could use this when we go to the park. We can stargaze again” “Well I should probably fold this back up before we do” “Yeah. We should”

I stared up into the stars. I didn’t know how we were on the topic of sexualities. All I know is that at one moment I was grabbing the blanket out of the car and the next we were stargazing and having a deep talk. I just really hope Leaf doesn’t ask me anything to do with gender. I don’t think I could tell them that I was intersex tonight. I turn to them to be able to listen to them better. “You know it took me way too long to realize I was demisexual and panromantic instead of pansexual” “Yeah I know how that goes Leaf I didn’t realize I was bisexual for the longest time”
We sat in silence staring up to the sky. We didn’t need to talk anymore. Everything important for that night was already said. We were back on good terms. I was losing myself in thought when Leaf pulling a corner of the blanket over them distracted me.That’s why I made sure the blanket was the huge one so we could cover up and still be able to stargaze, but I quickly realized I didn’t quite have enough to cover up myself so I slowly and discreetly got closer to them so one I could cover myself up and two feel the heat from them and be even warmer. I felt like I did this successfully.
We stayed like that for hours pointing out constellations that we spotted and saying small things before falling back into comfortable silence. The only thing that stopped us from going long into the night was the alarm that I set because I didn’t want to leave Charcoal alone too long. I felt bad that we had to leave already, but I did warn Leaf that I set an alarm.

Aster didn’t say anything about it, but I noticed how close we got when we got up from the blanket, and I know I stayed in the same spot, but I was probably overthinking it a little whenever you’re with someone you tend to drift towards them even if you aren't trying to.
Aster dropped me off at my apartment, and soon as I got ready for bed I flopped in tired, but happy.
