TW: A bit of homophobia and cursing
As I look at Carl the teacher intervenes before the situation gets worse. I take a deep breath to calm myself down. “That’s it Carl, go to the office now,” Mr.Watson said sternly. Then Mr.Watson turned to me and said, “Troy take him to the nurse.” Troy nodded and he led me to the nurses office to get patched up. “Uhm.. thanks for saving me back there,” Troy says as he rubs the back of his neck. “It’s no problem, I just acted out of instinct,” I said, looking at him.
I didn’t realize I was staring until he cleared his throat. I quickly averted my gaze to the floor. “We’re here,” Troy says as he opens the door letting me in, “morning Mrs.Rose.” The nurse looked up and smiled at Troy, “Mornin’ sweetie, what brings you here early in the morning?” She asked in her southern accent. Mrs.Rose then looked at me and walked straight to me. She reached her hand out to touch my cheek where I got punched and I stepped back without noticing. “S-sorry miss, you caught me off guard,” I say as I apologize. Mrs.Rose just smiles, “it’s alright dear, now let me see your cheek. Did ya run into Carl by any chance?” I nod as I let her do her thing. “How dare he mess up your lovely face,” she says as she clicks her tongue. I hear Troy laugh a little and I look his way as he watches Mrs.Rose patch my cheek.
“Be careful darlings!” Mrs.Rose says as we leave the clinic. I nod as Troy does a little wave to gesture that we will. “I still need to get my schedule,” I say as I remembered. He looks at me and leads me to the front office so I can get my schedule.
“Thanks,” I said as Troy helped me find my class. “It’s no problem, I also got this class too,” he says as he opens the door. “You’re late boys,” the teacher says as we enter. I start to say something but Troy speaks up, “I was taking the new kid to the clinic because he got caught up in a little spar and helped him get his schedule and stuff.” The teacher nods, letting us sit down as they introduce themselves. “Good morning students, I hope you all had a good summer and let's start off this day as we introduce ourselves. I’ll start, my name is Ms.Wells and I am nonbinary.” They said proudly.
After most of the students introduced themselves, it was Troy's turn. “My name is Troy Davis and I am bisexual,” he said so blantly. A guy next to me muttered, “great another fag,” that statement angered me and I thought of something. I grinned as it was my turn, “I am Elijah Moon and I’m gay and proud.” I feel the guy's eyes staring daggers at me. Then the rest of the students introduced themselves then the class finally started.
In the middle of Ms.Wells lecture, the intercom comes on. “We are on lockdown until further notice, I repeat we are on lockdown until further notice.” The class starts panicking because it's the first day of school and we're already on lockdown. “What’s going on?” a girl behind me said as Ms.Wells covers the doors window and puts a stopper on the door to keep outsiders out. There came a rapid knocking on our door. “Let me in! Please!” a voice says and there’s a hint of panic in his voice. Ms.Wells looks uncertain if they should or shouldn’t let the boy in, “let him in, he might know what’s going on out there,” I say, and Ms.Wells removes the door stopper and opens the door. In comes a guy, looks around my age, runs in and tells them to shut the door now. “It’s dangerous out there! There’s people eating other people, it’s fucking bloody out there!” He said with fear in his eyes.
The class starts panicking. “We gotta get out of here!” the guy next to me shouts, and all hell breaks loose as the students try to get out. Some students made it out of the class but they were trampled and eaten. It was a gruesome scene, several others threw up as blood splatter the halls.
