Martin Kinde POV:
Ace collapsed to the floor after finishing off my guardian. I had known him for so long, but it was the first time I witnessed the boy fight.
“Congratulations, Ace,” I smiled, “Just rest I’ll get a healer for you.” The boy threw up a thumbs up before he closed his eyes.
I had tested multiple children throughout my career, and every one of them awakened their authority during the physical test. Some were large and grand such as summoning their own guardian to protect themselves while others jumped higher to dodge the guardian’s attacks.
I knew Ace had been different since the start; his grandfather may have been the reason why Ace seemed so peculiar. That man, Mark, constantly pushed his grandson to the very limit to make Ace become the proud champion of the Lance family.
I walked over to Ace’s collapsed body and checked his pulse from his wrist. Despite the bruises and injures across Ace’s body was still alive.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t have gone so hard,” I muttered. Despite the gust of wind Ace summoned, I could sense from the mana around his body that it was merely a spell rather than his authority.
I picked up Ace’s body and carried him into the church; no matter how hard I tried to avoid the thought, I couldn’t help but ponder.
Acemore Lance, the first I had ever tested to summon a spell but the only one not to awaken his authority.
What makes you so different, Ace?
