Landing at the airport was a breeze, which was great for Gowan because he wanted nothing but to get the hell out of there as soon as possible.
As he stepped down the stairs of his jet, he couldn’t help but admire the location they reside in currently. The airport didn’t look like an airport at all, the ground was lined with black asphalt and was located on a hill. In the distance, Gowan can see the small rural town downhill, a path connecting the “airport” and the rural town together even though the path disappears into the foliage of evergreen pinewood.
Even from this far, the town looked magnificent, nothing like the pictures he saw on google images. Gowan shook his head “We are just here to refuel our tank, that’s all…”. He heard footsteps behind him and out came the petite male.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Cliff broke the silence with these words. “Well, we better hurry-” “Shh, let’s just...stay here for a moment...Sir Jenkins…”. Cliff blushed and mumbled a soft okay before leaning on the railing.
The smell of morning and trees gave Cliff a nostalgic feeling inside, this is where he grew up, this is where he laughed, played, cried. Cliff’s gaze went from the distant rural city...to the black haired man standing just in front of him. The wind blew a tender breeze through the air and made Gowan’s hair sway ever so gently.
Cliff couldn’t help but whisper
“So handsome...”
“What is it?”
Gowan cocked his head back with a perplexed look. “I uh um...I-I meant the city! Look at the city! It’s so...so...pretty...haha...ha…” Cliff said while flailing his hands around. “Yes...indeed” With a light shrug, Gowan continued to admire the beauty ahead.
“Sir Jenkins, how much time do we have left before we must depart to Clam Shore City?” “Oh, we still have about three hours of time to spare, we can explo-” “Postpone our scheduled arrival to the home until tomorrow, I find myself intrigued by this place”
“Really?!? You’re really gonna visit my home town?!?” Cliff squealed “We can check the dog park! and the cafes! and…” Cliff’s train of thought was derailed by Gowan glaring at him. “O-of course...Sir Westerly…I’ll get to it”. Cliff went back in the plane to contact the house dealers and tell them their delay.
“Okay...I’m gonna call them. I am going to call them! Yes. I-I will call them! Mhm, 100% I will call them...don’t be nervous and...call them…”. As Cliff struggled with the call, Gowan stepped down from the stairs and started walking down the path.
The wind blew once more, making the branches of the evergreen dance in the air. The way the wind swept through his face and hair, Gowan took it all in. “I never had this before...this feeling...I wonder what it is?” He pondered for a moment on this strange feeling he was experiencing.
Gowan looked back and saw Cliff and the three body guards walking down the pathway. The guards were rock solid and determined in their stride. Cliff, however, wandered and peeked in every corner of grass and rock. The feeling Gowan felt intensified which caused him to distress a little. He shook it off , “I must just be really happy to see Cliff happy, that must be it” he thought.
“Come on, Sir Jenkins, we need to find a place to settle soon. It is already 2 in the afternoon.” Gowan said in a raised voice. “C-coming!”, the petite male scurried to reach Gowan with his backpack jingling behind him.
“Oh! You can stay at my house! I-I mean if you want to...of course...” “Does your home have a pool with an en suite bathroom and bedroom with a jacuzzi?” Gowan asked. Cliff burst out into laughter for a whole minute until he locked eyes with Gowan who still gave him a confused look and slowly he realized...he wasn’t joking.
“Of course not! Not everyone has a jacuzzi or a pool at their homes y’know.”
“A-ah... I’m sorry, I really didn’t know.”
“Do you ever go out from your mansion, Sir Westerly?”
“N-not often but...I indeed have, Sir Jenkins.” Gowan nodded.
“Okay okay…d-do you...” Cliff pointed at Gowan
“You know what fries and burgers are...right?”
“Of course, Sir Jenkins!, the one you eat with a stick and get served in small triangles.”
“Th-that’s a sandwich-”
“Ah! The um...black circle things…”
“That’s...cavi...ar…” Cliff gave Gowan a perplexed look like he was some rich alien that came from a different world.
Cliff nudged Gowan slightly “Once we get to the town, I’m gonna teach you about normal people stuff! Haha” “I cannot wait to be educated by you, Sir. Jenkins”.
Cliff rolled his eyes playfully and said “Oh hush with the sirs sirs, you can call me Cliff from now on!” Gowan smiled a little and muttered “A-ah...well if that is how it is...you may refer to me as Gowan...Sir- I-I mean...Cliff.”
The smaller male smiled at the way his master said his name and looked at the ground out of embarrassment. “Oki” is all that could leave Cliff’s mouth. Before they knew it, they were in front of a sign that says in bold letters “WELCOME TO SOLACE CREEK!”
