As Chen Yi fled from the building, he headed towards the clan, where he heard a loud voice calling forth the soldiers fighting against the rebellion. Chen Yi headed towards the voice, asking whether any battles had erupted, to which he found that though they were calling for their forces to unite they had not yet started an attack but rather were about to start heading towards the mountainous area where the rebels were cowardly hiding.
Chen Yi then decided to see his father to gather some intelligence on the enemy to see what they were dealing with. Instead of seeing his father discussing important matters regarding the battle with the elders of the clan, he found his father, alone. He had a depressing aura about him. When asking for the cause of his father’s sadness, his father told him that he was feeling very sad about his wife, Chen Yi’s mother's, abduction and that her loss had made him emotionally unstable.
Chen Yi comforted his father, who was clearly still in shock. He said, “Father, I have come up with a way to recover mother from the rebels. I have decided to fight them, fair and square, to get mother back from the cowardly enemy. I do not fear such dirty tactics for we are much more powerful than the enemy and with my prowess, we shall truly overpower them and teach them the true meaning of the saying, “The water makes the boat float, but it can also sink it” They are truly unlucky for having gone against us.”
“Well son, go and beat those perfidious people. I will wholeheartedly wait for news of a victorious outcome.”Chen Yi confidently left to go to the battlefield to fight.
He started to gather the warriors of the clan, to go and reprimand the rebels, and rescue his mother.
Meanwhile, these events were taking place, in a particular section of the forest, a person was talking, “I have information that the patriarch and his army are going to be arriving soon. We need to prepare for their arrival by sending scouts to inform us when the other army arrives. Today is going to be total bloodshed. It is also the day that we can claim power and claim vengeance for having been tossed over by the patriarch. Prepare yourselves for battle!”
The soldiers soon arrived at the site of the battle. The battlefield was hard earth that had seen countless conflicts. Countless men had stood and/or lay upon its firm head. Many that stepped on this particular region of Terra Firma did not live to see another day. The evidence of this was still visible- you didn’t need a microscope to find it. Dried blood was littered around the battlefields, not quite dormant yet as it still contained the diseases that their hosts had contracted from their nocturnal adventures. In both a literal and figurative sense.
A very Herculean-like man was at the forefront of the army. Chen Hao was clearly in no state to fight in battle. However, the muscular figure at the front did not seem that familiar either. He was familiar with all the elders within the clan but not this one. Either he was recently promoted to the rank of Soldier General or something fishy was going on…
A very similar speech to the one that was prepared by Chen Yi’s father was said again, reinforcing the confidence of the soldiers and gaining morale, many of whom had not even tasted extreme bloodshed like the one they were about to witness. Many soldiers were still a little green behind the years such that they might have killed and killed and killed again, but not many were prepared for the loss of their friends or even family that they had spent months training with.
Suddenly, before the speech could even be finished, a hail of energy-driven arrows pelted through the air. Many rushed to put their shield above their head. Most were successful with their quick reflexes but the unlucky few died before they knew the battle had even begun.
Soon, a legion of warriors erupted from the forest. A concealment technique had most likely been used as no one else saw the warriors before their emergence. The warriors soon got into their respective formations, unfazed by the surprise attack. They say that “He who is sure of his victory will not start a war.” and that, “Under the command of a strong general, there are no weak soldiers. ” The other side was clearly anxious on whether the battle would be victorious on their side, for otherwise, why would they strike with arrows first? They were obviously afraid that they were inferior to the enemy force.
A few, that had similar thoughts, rushed forward. They quickly raised their weapons and began the battle. Seeing their comrades fighting, the rest also rushed to fight, alleviating the pressure on the initial few that rushed to fight.
Back in the particular section of the forest, the leader of the rebellion was gazing through a divine mirror, which showed the current events of the battle. With him, stood a young man, who also had a determined gaze and a devilish smile. They did not need to communicate to know what the other person was thinking- they were both equally fatalistic and knew that the perfect plan they had colluded over would bring them to victory. They were going to win.
On the battlefield, numerous small-scale battles had erupted. Both sides had lost men. Although a clear loser was not yet visible, nor was it close to being determined, both sides persevered on, choosing another enemy after they had dispatched their previous one to the realm of the yellow springs. They fought on till they themselves were killed by another for such was war.
Of course, Chen Yi was also doing his best in the battle. He changed into a Bengal-Siberian tiger hybrid, by using the system received skill, mimicry. Although his cultivation realm inhibited him from doing more damage, he still had his fair share of kills. He knew that he was not the best but if he played his cards right, he could do more damage than any other soldier. He could be the MVP of the battle (almost as if he was in Beowulfian dimensions, but without the hero who is brave enough to track the monster straight to its lair bit). And with the monster being a semi-nocturnal, deep-forest predator.
Chen Yi rampaged upon the battlefield. He jumped into the center of many battles, quite literally saving his comrades. He savagely bit and roared, killing many of the opposing soldiers. He was covered by blood, his clothes were tattered and stained red with the blood of the rebels. His skin was riddled with countless small wounds.
Knowing that they were going to lose if they let Chen Yi charge through the battlefield frenziedly, the masked leaders of the battle came out of the battlefield, poised for battle with their shining armour.
