The sun was shining brightly, the rain that had been forecast didn't come at all. Noah sat down in the wooden dock, taking note in avoiding the nail that came loose in the passage of time.
He is currently in a private island he inherited from his mother, without any clear destination in mind, his feet lead him here, an island in the middle of Pacific.
This island serves as their holiday getaway before their once perfect family breaks down into pieces never to repair again.
On this island he came to know the Lancelot Rossenfeild seven years ago.
Lancelot Rossenfeild is the son of an airline magnate. As an heir from a million dollar business, he is groomed by his parents to socialize and gain connection from a young age.
The young Noah, a trust fund baby, son of the deceased Amelia Matthews—Princess of the Matthew corporation and with his father—a very successful lawyer is a connection Lancelot parents really needed so when they found out that Noah is celebrating his 18 birthday on the island, they pushed Lancelot to attend.
Noah can still remember how the young Lance charmed his way in the party, he danced and flirted with all the people, be it man and woman. He would constantly be in mischief, causing ruckus in his wake. For Noah, Lance is a playboy and a walking disaster.
So it is a big surprise for him that when the party's over and everyone goes to sleep, the very drunk Lance appears in the Dock where he is sitting looking fine and sober. Noah even praised his alcohol tolerance making the young man laugh.
That night, the two talked about mundane things, they talked about their hobbies, their ambitions. They both wonder what fate stores for them. Would fate be kind? Or would it be cruel?
For once in many years after his mother's death and returning to his father's side, this is the first time that Noah is this happy. Happy that Lance didn't once asked him to introduce his father and grandfather. Happy that Lance didn't talk to him in a fawning manner like those so called 'friends' of his for his connection. Happy that for once, someone talked to him as he is, a simple boy not some rich heir to a company.
For the first time, he is free!
The sound of a received text message broke his train of thought making him return to reality.
Noah is expecting it, everyday he wakes up in dread, always checking his phone for an update, even calling his lawyer nonstop.
But even with all his preparation, he still cried.
For the text says, "I already signed the divorce paper, your lawyer would file it on your behalf."
