"So, what are you feeling today? Cottagecore or nerdy science?" Ash teased as she took out some clothes
Sofi couldn't help but roll her eyes, trying to act exasperated at her friend "You know me Ash, physics for life!" she laughed, taking a plain grey shirt, a sweater she'd left here the other day with a drawn cat doing chemistry on the front, and some light blue jeans.
"But don't worry, I'll take some cottagecore." she giggled and took out a rosy headband from the wardrobe below and left the room to get dressed
Ash couldn't help but give her a smile, a little amused as she took out of the headband. "Now, what am I going to wear.." she muttered out absent mindedly as she sorted the clothes throughout her closet, looking for something nice.
Well, at least something that didn't draw that much attention to her eyebags, she was somewhat exhausted.
In the end she decided on a blue jean jacket, a poet shirt and some ripped black jeans. Wasn't the most warm but it'd keep her safe enough from the cold outside.
Probably, she just hoped it wouldn't start raining.
As she got dressed she opened the door to her room and went to the living room to get her bag before she was interrupted by her friend
"Hey Ash-" Sofi started as she saw her friend go down to the couch
"Hm? What's up?" she replied, a little confused as she saw her holding a helmet of sorts.
"Oh fuck"
"So like I mean no big deal or anything but I saw this, this morning and like is it yours?" she asked showing off the helmet, lifting her eyebrow a little as she awaited a response
"Uh..." Ash muttered out, trying to think of an awnser
"Yeah?" Sofi asked softly, not aware of her friend's situation
"Um... It's not mine." she stammered out, and just as a reply came she continued "Well, actually it is mine. Well, actually it isn't. Uh... It's mine... Well kind of." she stuttered out, unsure of what to say as she panicked looking for a perfect response
"Ash you okay?" Sofi asked, a little confused as she put a hand on Ash's arm, a little stranged about what was going on. Ash wasn't one to panic, especially over... Well a helmet.
The question of whether it was hers or not wasn't all that important. They both trusted each other to the point of knowing that if a theft needed to be covered up, or even done, they could count on each other. As long as it wasn't from a poor kid or a mother working three jobs, Sofi didn't really care if the helmet was stolen.
"I..." Ash took a deep breath as she tried to calm herself, she had to be honest with Sofi. Excuses weren't that honest either, she needed to tell her the truth.
Which would probably be a little hard, considering Sofi had a somewhat dislike for all the things related to said truth. Except motorcycles, she was certainly fascinated by mechanical engineering. Well, it had to be said that she was a fan of the motorcycle itself going vroom vroom.
"Okay. If I tell you this, promise you won't be mad?" Ash asked hesitantly, doing her best to remain calm
"Well, depends on what you're going to tell me. If you tell me astrophysics sucks, we're probably gonna have a problem." Sofi teased
Ash couldn't help but roll her eyes, hiding a little smirk at the remark before she was brought back down to Earth, taking the helemet off her friend's hands.
"Okay... So... You want it clean or soft?" she asked cautiously, whenever something big had to be said, they asked each other whether it should be said clean or or soft. Clean was fairly straightforward, and would usually cause major embarrassment. At least they could beat around the issue with soft, although that would occasionally lead to some major groans and eye rolls.
Sofi shrugged, not really caring either way "Uh... I'll take a clean sure." she replied with no hesitation, still a little confused on what the whole deal about the motorcycle helmet was.
Ash couldn't help but sigh as Sofi took her pick, ideally the issue would be dropped and they could go buy spoons. But well, moments like these are what truly tested their friendship. If anything else, at least they were honest with each other. Well, among other things of course.
"So... By any chance, do you remember Scarlett?" she asked hesitantly as they sat down on the couch, the conversation was probably going to take a somewhat... Long time. And if Sofi turned violent, no one would have their head broken on the couch.
Well, hopefully.
Sofi heard the name with an air of disgust, practically fuming with rage as she heard the name. Her shoulders, tensing up as she listened carefully.
She did her best to calm herself down, which proved to be somewhat difficult considering that Scarlett... Wasn't exactly her favorite person ever.
Nonetheless, she tried to put on a smile and compose herself as she nodded "Mhm. I remember her." she managed to mutter out through gritted teeth as she clenched her jaw, trying not to think of a reason why Ash would talk about her now.
Probably nothing too big, just... Something else.
"So uh..." she managed to speak, take a great chance to think over what she was gonna say. She wouldn't dare mention her being the piano girl, that would just break her heart, and if anything, cause her to go back down to the club and file a restraining order against everyone.
Well, then having a restraining order against Scarlett wouldn't be the most terrible thing ever, the hate was mutual. However, she didn't exactly want her to get a restraining order from quite literally, everyone at the bar. After all, she indeed needed a drink every once in a while, something to distract her from whatever the fuck was going on with her life.
"Spit it out Ash..." Sofi sighed, her rage calming a little as she tried to compose herself, she didn't want to end up screaming at her friend, but the thought of Scarlett just broke her mind. With rage that is, her mind probably wouldn't be broken after this. Unless of course, they got into an all out duel, which was fairly unlikely in any case.
Ash let out a little sigh, trying to make some sort of sentence come out so she could tell Sofi what had happened in a way that wouldn't exactly inspire her to kick Scarlett's ass, well, wouldn't be too bad.
Nonetheless, she didn't want her friend getting too angry about the whole situation. Which frankly.... well, it was already a little too late for that.
"Okay so yesterday... I uh, I went on a motorcycle ride with her. And... we kind of hung out." she finally ended up admitting, her face covered with shame and embarrassment as she tried to hide it from Sofi
"It's not like I liked it! I hated it and I'm never seeing her again." she added quickly, trying to see if anything like that would help.
To be fair, it was true. She absolutely hated Scarlett and frankly, she really never wanted to see her again. Sure she was on her mind constantly, but those thoughts were only filled with rage for her auburn glowing, fierce hair and those sparkling Emerald eyes that never stopped glowing. And those... That faint little scar of hers than ran across her ear, rough to the touch but the softest scar she'd ever felt.
She quickly snapped back out of hating trance and back into reality, awaiting Sofi's reaction hesitantly
Her face had a subtle little anger to it, a stranger could walk right in and not even notice how... Upset she was. If anything, one glance and nothing would be wrong.
But of all the things that could offer traitory, her eyes gave her out. A betrayal of the worst kind. Normally, her eyes were filled with a spark. A light little flame that welcomed all those around her, like a hearth in a household, she offered shelter, comfort, familiarity. They were beautiful, comforting, and there was a certain enlightenment when looking into the peace of their embers.
Right now, well, her rage consumed her. The flames engulfed her as her eyes turned into balls of flame, sparks of passion and fury as they leaped around, burning everything that stood in their way.
Beautiful, yet frightening nonetheless. There was rage in those eyes, one that never allowed itself to show except for the most extreme of equations.
She shook her head in disbelief, a shocked smile running through her face as she tried to find the words to say, if anything, sh e was shocked that Ash wasn't as angry as she was. If the roles were reversed well... There would certainly be some sort of conflict between her and Scarlett.
Unfortunately, they were not.
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT????" she managed to shout out, her voice a booming roar as it finally came out. She wasn't angry... She was simply disappointed.
Well, angry too. This wasn't exactly her most peaceful moment.
Ash tried to hide her face away, blushing from shame and embarrassment as she heard her friend's booming thunder, Sofi rarely got mad and well... When she did get mad, she was a sight to be reckoned with.
"SHE HURT YOU, DO YOU WANNA GET HURT AGAIN?" Sofi continued, her face full of rage and fury as she tried to snap her friend back into reality
Ash managed to finally speak out, her voice steady as she replied "Look, Sofi I'm sorry. But I can't change what already happened." she sighed out, trying to reason with her friend
"YEAH YOU CAN'T. SHE DOESN'T EVEN FUCKING DESERVE TO SEE YOU." Sofi continued, smoke practically fuming through her ears as she tried to knock some sense into her friend
"Probably not. But.. I did." she admitted in defeat
"WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?" she yelled out, trying to calm herself.
"Hasn't she hurt you enough???" Sofi asked, her voice quavering a little as she tried to help her friend. She wanted whatever was best for her, and seeing Scarlett sure as hell wasn't any good.
"I-I..." she stammered out, trying to think of a reply. She didn't have to accept the invite, if anything, the expected reaction would be to reject it. "I don't know Sofi, but personally, I blame Murphys Law." she replied, a sly little smile on her face
Sofi tried to get mad again, going on a rant about how this wasn't the time for comedy. But she couldn't help except crack a little smile which quickly turned to a bubble, and turned to a laugh. She tried to hide it, but in the end, the comedy of science took over.
"Screw you." she laughed, trying to compose herself as she tried to get mad at her once again. "But..." she continued, wiping her eyes as her laughter settled down "Please, don't ever see her again." Sofi insisted "I know you hate her like I do, but I don't you to be seeing the person that did something to you like that"
Ash gave her a kind look, a soft smile on her face as she took her hand "Science Girl, you know me. I ain't gonna get hurt by her. If anything, I'll just hang out with her to prove I'm completely fine." she said
Sofi rolled her eyes, taking a sigh as she nodded
"Fine. I trust you." she muttered out, Ash knew what was best for her. Besides, they weren't even gonna hang out or anything, Ash despised Scarlett. And well, why would you hang out with someone you hated?
"But promise me you won't get hurt again. Please" she begged earnestly, Sofi really just wanted Ash to be okay. That was it. If she was okay, than so was she.
Ash nodded "I promise Science Girl." she smiled, pulling her in for a hug as they made their peace, memories of screaming and anger lost under the sands of time. The next time Sofi would scream would probably be for a couple of years. Either that, or if a character from her favorite TV show died. Both dogue coexist but that's not necessarily relevant
Hesitantly, they left each other's embrace. "Now, can we go get some spoons?" Ash asked, trying to hide a little smirk as she opened the door
"Duh. I probably need some spoons for my alloys project anyway." Sofi teased
Ash couldn't help but roll her eyes a little as she grabbed the keys to her car and called the elevator "Oh, leave the helmet there please." she asked, pointing over to Sofi with the helmet in her hand.
"Well if we run into Scarlett, I wanna knock her out with this." she pouted, pretending to swing the helmet at someone
"Science Girl if we run into Scarlett, I'll just give you my purse." she said, amused as she called up the elevator for them
"Fine, you're lucky you got a heavy purse Ash." she said, pretending to scoff at the matter as she put down the forsaken helmet on the table and left the door
"Also, just out of curiosity, what actually are you bringing in that purse? It's pretty damn huge." Sofi asked, pointing over at the purse as she gave Ash a confused sort of look.
"That's a... well, actually a great question." Ash admitted as they both stepped on the elevator, trying not to eye what she thought was a rat in the corner of a room "Well, I've definitely got a copy of Sappho's poems..." she muttered opening her purse as she took it out to show. Well, if anything it was more of a handbag, fairly cheap and probably a fake, but it looked pretty!
"I also have uh... Some make-up, a photograph, a pair of flats, my wallet of course, my ear buds, some random paper, a brick apparently, and uh... Whatever the fuck this is." she muttered as she took the foreign object out and put her favorite book back in.
"Ash why do you have a compass in your handbag?" Sofi sighed as she pointed over to the foreign object she was holding
Ash's eyes opened a little in confusion "Wait... This is a compass?" she asked hesitantly as she examined it closely
"Yeah it is silly. HEY I think that's my compass!" Sofi gasped, as she looked at it
"That... Okay that would make a lot of sense. I found it in your house this one time, and I thought it was just one of those things that no one ever knows what is." she admitted, a little embarrassed at herself
Sofi couldn't help but roll her eyes a little " Ash I'm gonna have to give you a science class when we get back here... " she sighed, putting a hand to her head as they walked out of the elevator
"Hey, not my fault I never actually payed attention to math class! It's a miracle that I even passed..." she snorted as they walked over to the door "Hey Mr. Bojing." she said, giving him a little wave
"Hey Ash, Sofi." he said, not looking up from his magazine as he replied with a little wave
"I'm pretty sure your landlord's gay." Sofi said as she opened the door, absent-mindedly as they walked over to the car
"Oh duh. Haven't you met his boyfriend Stefan?" she asked, a little confused that her friend was only realizing this now
