The following day, it became clear how serious Lilith was about taking Elizabeth on the date she promised. She refused to tell her exactly what they were planning to do when they went out, other than informing her they would go out once the early evening rolled around.
Despite Lilith having given no expectations for their date, Elizabeth couldn't help but feel a pit of nervousness in the bottom of her stomach for the entire day leading up to it. A big factor she realized was how self-conscious she was of her own appearance, compared to Lilith who oozed beauty and confidence.
Sarana had worked up the courage to invite Elizabeth into her room to help her get ready for the date, and so she brought her inside to touch up on a few small things. Inside the room, Elizabeth sat on a cushioned stool in front of a large mirror. The shy succubus stood behind her, soothingly brushing her bright orange hair with a bit more courage than usual.
She glanced around the room as Sarana brushed her hair. Much like the succubus' appearance, her room was decorated rather dark and gothic. However it leaned heavily on the elegant side rather than the disturbing side, with a couple weird looking plushies on her bed being the sole exceptions. To Elizabeth, it almost looked like the room of a fairy tale princess, but darker.
“H-how are you feeling?” Sarana stuttered out as she pulled the brush through her hair.
She took a deep breath and slowly let it out again. “I think my nerves are off the charts right now honestly.” She admitted while doing her usual nervous fidget. “I've never been on a date before in my life.”
She pulled the brush through again and smiled gently at her. “First dates are kind of scary, b-but I think you will get more comfortable once you are out there!” she tried to reassure her. She noticed Elizabeth's dejected face seemed to focus on herself in the mirror. “Are you intimidated by Lilith?” she asked quietly.
Elizabeth yielded, nodding without hesitation and shifting her gaze to the floor. “Yeah... quite a bit.”
“The reason Lilith did not tell you much is because she is likely going to take things as they go. She wants to be as casual with this as she can.” Sarana explained as she finished brushing her hair. “Y-you may not think so, but you are also a very beautiful young woman.”
She stared back at the mirror, the two of them both carrying a deep blush on their faces. She looked at herself, still wearing clothes similar to what she always wore, no heavy makeup, no major hairstyle changes. Thinking about things that way, and knowing Lilith was trying to be casual, it took a ton of weight off her mind. “Just... be me,” she muttered quietly.
She nodded with a shy smile as she placed the hairbrush on top of her ornate dresser. “I think she will be ready for you any time now.”
Elizabeth turned around in the stool, staring at the goth succubus curiously. “I don't want to sound rude, but can I ask you something?” She took a long pause, going back to fidgeting with her hands during it. “You... like me, so are you bothered by the fact that I'm going on a date with Lilith?”
She appeared quite surprised to hear that question, yet it brought out a brighter smile than before. She shook her head and tried to give Elizabeth eye contact. “I-It is complicated to explain, because you are human and well... I am a sex demon at my core. But Lilith and the others here are another family to me, and you are also a part of that family now.” Her demeanour changed briefly, losing a lot of her shyness and exchanging it for a little confidence. “Anyone could go on a hundred dates with you, but how I feel would not change. At the end of the day we are all succubi, and we are here for you.”
She unconsciously moved her hand over her heart, face redder than before. She was amazed at how Sarana felt, and being able to catch a glimpse of her inner strength.
Sarana watched Elizabeth’s awe, her own words now sinking back into her head. She immediately covered her face to hide her scarlet shame and rubbed her knees together anxiously. “Y-you should probably get going now!” she ushered her almost inaudibly.
Elizabeth formed a small smile and got up from the stool. She gave her new friend a thankful wave on her way out, and hurried down to the lounge.
Once she heard the door shut, she uncovered her face and flopped onto her overly soft bed, sinking into it ever so slightly. “S-so embarrassing!!!” She yelled at herself while rolling around on the bed.
Just as Elizabeth reached the bottom of the entrance hall stairs and turned the corner, she was grabbed by her hand and pulled into someone's body. “Good evening, princess~” Lilith chimed as she wrapped her arms around her date.
Elizabeth let out a squeak in surprise as she was grabbed, looking back at her timidly. “H-hey there!” she stammered out awkwardly. It appeared what Sarana said about being casual was true. Lilith's outfit and makeup were about the same as usual, which smoothed out her nerves a bit.
Euryale came out from around the corner and leaned against the wall. “Make sure you don't bring her home too late, okay Lilith?” She reminded her as ‘mom’ mode kicked in.
“Yes yes, I know the drill!” She replied as she gave Elizabeth one last squeeze with her arms. “I'll totally make sure to have your daughter home before midnight~” she teased her.
Euryale rolled her eyes, but with a smile on her face. She gave Elizabeth a nod of approval and motioned them over to the door. “Have fun tonight, really try to enjoy yourself.”
Elizabeth nodded as she was pulled towards the front door. “I will, thank you!”
“Ooooo Liz, we're gonna have such a good time, I promise!~” She told her as she activated the door with her finger. “I’ll tell you now, just so it won't be too surprising. We're gonna come out somewhere different than usual!” She said as the door opened into the fog.
The human woman held Lilith's hand tightly, staring at her from behind as her heart began to race. “I-I need to relax a little...” She thought to herself as they stepped through the fog. As they were stepping through, it felt as though she was captivated by Lilith, similarly to when they met for the very first time.
Her mood however was immediately killed once they stepped out of the fog and found themselves on Earth. The alternative exit that Lilith had taken them to had put them in a dark, sketchy alley. As the crooked door closed behind them, she found herself quickly looking for the nearest path out of the alley.
Lilith giggled quietly and gave her a wink. “I'm reeaally sorry! I know it's not great, but this is the best door I could use so we wouldn't have to walk all the way from campus!”
Still feeling a bit sketched out, Elizabeth instinctively moved closer to her date and pressed against her arm. She glanced at her, seeing a satisfied smirk on her face. It made her wonder if this was the result of an ulterior motive she had, making them come out into a dark alley to push her closer.
In contrast to the creepy alley, the moment the pair stepped outside of it they were greeted by the busy downtown life and brightly lit signs. Elizabeth looked around with wide eyes, the setting sun painting a beautiful background for the rest of the downtown environment.
“You've never been in this part of the city in the evening?” Lilith asked her as she watched the young woman with amusement.
She quickly shook her head as the succubus pulled her slightly aside, so that the people on the sidewalk could move past them. “I've been here during the day... but I've never come later on before. I guess I didn't really have a reason to,” she explained to her.
Lilith smiled brightly, her fangs glinting in the light of the signs as she led Elizabeth along. “You almost look like a child with that expression.” She teased her as they walked along with the crowds. “It's super cute~”
Elizabeth blushed and gripped her hand tighter. She couldn't deny that seeing the 'nightlife' version of the city caused childlike fascination to well up from deep inside her. They walked along for a little while, with mostly Lilith doing the talking. She at least replied enough back to her that she wasn't making it an awkward, one-sided conversation.
It was a nice feeling, just walking along together and making small talk. The longer they went along, the less nervous she felt. It became evident to even Lilith just by how much the grip on her hand loosened up over time. “Can I ask, where are we going?”
She smiled and gestured up the street with a nod. “I made a reservation at that restaurant for us~” She watched as Elizabeth’s expression became stunned, realizing that might sound far more serious than it was. She tried to backtrack in her words. “Don't get too shocked Liz! I promise it's nothing extra fancy or whatever. It's just something nice!” she reassured her.
She let out a sigh of relief, feeling extra assurance as they got closer and she could see the restaurant better. Just as the succubus had said, it wasn't anything high-class, but it was nice enough that one would need a reservation on a busier night.
As they walked up the wooden steps to the door, she couldn't help but take a peek inside through the glass. It seemed Lilith made the correct choice by making the reservation. The restaurant was packed with hungry customers sitting at booths and tables, and there were even a couple families waiting just inside the entrance for a spot to open up. “Who knows how many dates she's been on... I should trust that she knows what she’s doing.”
Once they were inside, Lilith let go of Elizabeth's hand and walked up to the greeter that was stationed nearby. “Hi there, we're here with a reservation. It should be under the name Lilith Ashdown.”
The greeter quickly looked at his sheet and nodded when he found the name. “Ah here it is, a reservation for two. Right this way please!” He told them before guiding the way through the bustling restaurant.
The crowds were actually making Elizabeth a little anxious, a small part of her wishing she had brought her headphones to put on to calm herself down. However she left them back at home specifically so she wouldn't be rude and do that by instinct.
They were brought over to the last open booth in the restaurant, which was also fortuitously next to the large window facing towards the rest of the downtown area. Elizabeth took her seat quickly, with Lilith following suit across from her after she hung her jacket on their booth's hook.
“Your server will be with you in just a minute.” The greeter told them as he gave the pair their menus, then hurried back to the front of the restaurant.
Lilith could see her date taking in the rustic decor of the restaurant, but could also tell she was a little on edge with how many people were present. She reached across the table and placed her hand on top of hers. “Are you gonna be okay, sweetie?”
She looked back at her, finding comfort in the warmth of her hand and the soothing look in her dazzling eyes. “Yes... thank you Lilith,” she replied. She was thankfully able to tune out most of the background chatter after a minute, and keep her attention on her date.
She gave the nervous girl's hand one more squeeze before picking up a menu to read over. “By the way, I will be paying for tonight's date. So get anything you like~” She told her while peeking out from over the menu to shoot her a wink.
Elizabeth glanced at the menu, then back up to her date. “I've never asked before, but where do you get the money to pay for all this?” she asked. She was specifically referring to the restaurant and the mighty wardrobe she had seen Lilith cycle through over the weeks.
“I have a job, silly!~” Lilith exclaimed with a giggle. “I don't do it very often, but it totally pays enough that it lasts me a while~” she explained in a teasing manner.
She stared at the succubus with heat growing in her face. “W-what job would that be?” she asked, wondering if it was what she thought it might be.
Before she could answer however, their server came by the booth and introduced himself. “So what can I get for you two today?”
