Looking at Creed's hand in mine, I pulled my hand out of his. He didn't resist my want for my hand.
"Alexi."
"Creed, I need you----"
"Why did you have my dog tags? Why were you wearing them?"
"Right, Good question, I'll get back to you on that when I know."
"Alexi, could it be that you-----"
"No. I don't have time for this, not at this second ok, maybe later. I need to do way too much. I need to bust the fuck out of here."
"I'll help you for a fee."
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Name your price?"
"Let me hug you, whenever I want."
"Fine."
I knew I was going to regret that but I needed help to get out. Also, I could live with him hugging me, it wasn't that hard. Creed stood up out of the chair he had been sitting in and turned off the machines and removed wires and shit. He left me with the Iv drip but unplugged the machine because it possessed a battery of its own. Only getting out of the bed did I realize I had no clothing on, except boxers.
Creed pulled off the sweater he had on. It was a mess trying to get it on me. He had me step into the head hole of his sweater and we managed to get it on with one arm in a sleeve and the other hanging out the head hole. I was well covered so that was all that mattered. Creed stepped back and looked at his handy work. He snorted before breaking out into a full laugh.
"Do I look that bad?"
"Bad, no. Just dwarfed by my hoodie that's all."
Grabbing the pole of the Iv machine, I followed Creed to the door of the medical wing. As luck would have it we were busted right away. Caleb walked in, right as we reached the door. He looked at me amused.
"Alright. What level of breaking out do you think your about to commit to?"
Caleb grabbed my arm and disconnected the line, before shoving my arm down the sleeve and reconnecting me.
"Before you go wandering around, You have only so much battery so do pay attention to that, and let me change the bag quickly."
Creed and I waited till the bag was changed and Caleb gave us the go-ahead, but not before giving me shitty hospital socks for my bare-ass feet. I was pretty thankful for them even though they were ugly as fuck. They were warm and I wouldn't have the chance to slip on my head.
"Where are we headed?"
"To the elevator first, then I have one place in mind to go."
"I have an odd feeling we are going to visit your uncle."
"Your odd feeling is right."
"This is about the phone call?"
"Yeah, I'm going to ask if he knew or knows Siena Concetta, If he doesn't then it's not his child, plain and simple."
"Yeah, that's pretty smart."
"I thought so. But I feel like it is a real possibility. We talked about this the other night when I went for a drink."
"You went there?"
Looking at Creed he looked shocked.
"Yeah, I needed someone to talk to about some stuff that wasn't going to give me answers based on their own feelings on the subject."
"I see. Was that a good conversation?"
"It was one of the best I think. He isn't to blame for my father's actions and yes he didn't help but, we aren't getting any younger Creed, the man is going grey."
"Yeah, I know this. I'm older than you after all."
"I know this."
We got into the elevator and Creed looked at me with a look in his eyes. He suddenly hugged me. I was going to fight the hug, but we had a deal and he was still injured so I sucked it up. The hug lasted as long as it took for the elevator to get to the right floor. It felt longer than it actually was. Creed said something in Italian that I didn't catch, I wanted to ask but the doors had opened. My Iv drip and I walked down the hall Creed right behind me. I stopped to make sure he was ok.
"Your wound bothering you?"
"No, Why do you ask?"
"You were walking behind me, I thought maybe your wound was aching."
"No, I was just keeping an eye on you."
"Oh, well, I'm ok."
We walked in silence until we reached the door. I wanted to turn and walk away but Creed knocked before I could. The door opened, My uncle looked me up and down. Before he could make any comments about my appearance I spoke.
"Do have a moment to discuss what god can do for you?"
"No, but holy fuck kid your legs are white as fuck."
Looking down at my legs, he wasn't wrong. This wasn't about me.
"Don't look at them. Thank you."
"Hard not to..."
"Just let us in, I have a lot to unpack."
He didn't even welcome us in. He just turned and walked away.
"Shut the door behind you."
Wheeling my new friend in with me we reached the kitchen where he was sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee. Looking down at my watch it wasn't even noon yet, no wonder he wasn't friendly.
"Want any coffee?"
"You don't have to show me where things are."
I walked to the cupboard and pulled out two cups, One for Creed and one for me. After pouring my cup I walked back to the table and set it down.
"Should I expect weekly visits?"
"No, never."
"Well, this is the second week in a row."
"I'm here strictly on business."
"Something wrong with my budget?"
"Actually, no, it's about your dick this time."
The coughing fit that my uncle had was worth it.
"Excuse me?"
"Did you at any point know a Siena Concetta?"
"Yes, did something happen to her or her family, why are you asking, that was a long time ago, you were a boy the last time I saw her."
"Ah fuck. Did you sleep with her?"
"We were a couple for the entire time I was in Italy working for Maddox's father. What does my sleeping with her have to do with business Alexi? Is she in some kind of danger?"
"You fucked up."
"Alexi, I'm starting to get----"
"So you might have a child with her."
He slowly set his coffee cup down and looked almost offended.
"Where did you come to find out this information?"
"A phone call. This morning, I called back a number from Italy. The kid said he was twenty-two. Does that fit your time in Italy?"
"Alexi, Did the kid say how he got your number?"
"Yeah from Siena, She told him it was the best way to track you down. He had your name, she gave him your name."
"I'm assuming this will all be verified by DNA?"
"It will yes. I did ask to have his DNA tested against my own. But I asked him to have Siena contact me herself. Turns out her father passed away and she has since taken over his family, so she must be plenty busy."
"Use my DNA, Don't send yours. It's not safe in case this is just a way to get information."
"I asked for DNA, he never asked."
"Still, use my DNA. It should be already filed with Caleb."
"If it comes back that you do have a child, what happens then?"
"Did the kid say anything about what he wanted?"
"Not really."
"I see."
He brought the cup to his lips and took a drink.
"I wonder if the kid looks like me, If he does that probably just killed her old man, he hated me."
"There are worse things in life," Creed said, sitting beside me sipping his coffee.
"Ain't that the truth." My uncle said nodding at Creed.
My uncle looked at the machine and back at me before he got a look in his eye.
"You, on the other hand, Alexi. How many times do you have to ignore a doctor's orders before you end up fucking dead?"
"How many times is it now?"
"More than enough."
"Creed will save me."
"And when he is gone?"
Creed shot my uncle a look and my uncle paused. He realized he said too much about something. They weren't telling me anything then. The knot that was in my stomach twisted further when Creed said, don't worry, it's nothing. I sipped my coffee then slowly, the words Creed and gone just bounced around in my head, and left a sour feeling in my stomach.
