Days pass by slower and slower. Rasputin disappears every night, rumors say he has been drinking and sleeping around. But every day another servant is let go all because of that holy man. Fortunately, because I take care of the children, I cannot be fired.
March 12, 1917...The day everyone has been waiting for arrives, this day is where the Duma finally discusses the rising problems with the economy, Rasputin, and other issues. I stand outside the door with Daria trying to catch every word.
“Nicholas Romanov the second…” Aleksandr Kerensky, head of the Duma, “You are to step down from the throne for disorderly conduct, leading an army against our orders, and letting a ...‘Holy man’... advise your decisions. Be grateful we are not executing you and your wife for possible treason.”
Daria and I look at each other, fear covers our faces. God bless Mother Russia.
