I laughed cheerfully as Soon-Hee splashed me. I loved the Pond. It's a BIGG pond in the outskirts of our neighborhood. But then, I heard my mom shout, " Cho-Hee! Time to go home!" I said, "Bye!" to Soon-Hee. I have a younger sister named So-Ra. I also have an older brother named Han-Jae. Han-Jae is about 14 years old. So-Ra is 2 years old and the cutest little baby EVER! I said to my mom, "What's happening mom? Usually you let me play longer." "Well...I'll tell you when we get home." I was confused. Usually she can just tell me, outside or inside. I followed mom inside, where she handed me a towel to dry myself off. I demanded, "TELL ME NOW!!! I WANT TO KNOW!" She sighed, and sat down on the creaky wooden chair. "Cho-Hee, today North Korea attacked."
"North Korea? Why?" I took a moment to sort my feelings and my face. I had so many questions. My feelings? Well, I was scared, worried, and feeling questions. Then I realized there was only one question that had to be asked. Only one. It was also the one I most needed to ask from all my questions.
The Korean War is not a good time to be alive. But two girls from both sides of Korea are stuck in the war. It's dangerous in North Korea. Ara is confused. What's happening? Cho-Hee is a cheerful girl living in South Korea. When she finds out about the war, what will she do? Will they be able to survive?
