The clothes Liliath wore was a white blouse with minimal frills and a blue knee-length blouse. Somehow, I took notice of this point a little late. With her hair tied into a ponytail that cascaded down to her shoulder blades.. she looked bewitching.. somehow. I couldn't really put my finger on it.
"Is there anything wrong?"
"No, nothing," I kept my straight face.
The clothing that had been sun-dried had been pulled back into the house. I was surprised that Liliath took the initiative to help us fold the clothes albeit clumsy. More surprising was that my mom told me about her helping out with the chores in the morning. Though a Princess, she's incredibly tactful. Which made me wonder— what kind of past did she have? She was a slave before right? I wonder what happened?
"I will demonstrate a few examples of elemental magic that I know, is that alright?" Liliath asked.
"Yup, go on," I gestured.
We were at the backyard of our house which at first glance was a small area split into two with one half growing with grass and the other half flattened with brick tiles. Standing from the shade of the porch, Liliath pointed her hands at the makeshift paper dummy my sister made in abrupt.
She held that stance for a moment before looking at me. "Is it necessary to hit the paper target?"
"Not really.."
"Hit it! hit it!" Novelle yelled.
"Shh.. don't yell so loud, it would bother the neighbors," my mom caressed her head.
"Sorry," the defeated devil lowers her head.
"Here I go." Liliath took a deep breath, I noticed that her eyes contained an air of nostalgia... I wonder why.
Then it happened.
A ring of flame traced around the target.
"Fire elemental magic." Liliath said nonchalantly.
I looked at the situation, surprised. Novelle had both her hands to her mouth, apparently too stunned to speak while my mom had a dazed expression.
Water that came out of nowhere extinguished the fire, crystallizing into ice. The ice grew and encased the paper dummy.
"I can also use earth and light elemental magic."
"That's amazing— Is there a limit? Like the amount of mana you can use before being depleted?"
"There is. But that isn't really an issue since I'm an individual with a high mana capacity."
"You could use this for self-defense right?"
"Under normal circumstances.." Liliath shivered a little, "Yes."
"I'm sorry," my guess is that she had her magic deprived of after she became a slave— a common occurrence that could be read in mangas or novels. Wait— does that mean that collar last time had restriction properties... probably not. It could just be that it lost function once Liliath appeared in this world.
"Big sister Liliath! Can you make a bigger ice! Like a big big one!" My sister stretched her arms open.
My mom flashed a troubled smile as she looked at Liliath, seemingly interested in it herself.
"I think i can?" Liliath said as if trying to convince herself.
"Don't make it tooo big.. we don't want people to suddenly see an ice tower in our yard out of nowhere," I warned.
Liliath nodded.
The ice dome encasing the paper target that had started to melt grew into an obelisk to a height similar to my own. The ice was crystal clear, the refraction caused me to see the backyard tree on the other side when looking at the ice formation.
"Uuwow!" Novelle ran towards the small obelisk, ignoring the scorching afternoon sun and placed her palms on the surface. "It's cold!"
She started laughing, and jumping. Frosty mist spread out with the obelisk in the middle.
"Liliath, can you demonstrate some offensive magic?" Truth be told, after seeing this, I don't think I can't resist not asking for some destruction. I'm witnessing history being created in front of my very eyes.. not really.
"Understood. Novelle, please stand back."
Novelle obeyed her instructions, returning to mom's side with sweat running down her cheeks. After which a number of icicles appear floating around Liliath. At the command with her finger, the icicles shot forth all at once, the sound of a large impact reverberated, the obelisk crumbled into bits and pieces.
"Wow," accidentally voiced my awe.
"How is it? Would this suffice?"
"Yeah.. but don't kill people.."
That's an incredible destructive power.. I'm pretty sure the icicles created have to be denser than the ice of the obelisk itself else it wouldn't have the solidity to smash the ice.
"So there really is a custom of not killing people in this world," Liliath mumbled.
"It's different from your world. There are laws protecting the people's lives," or something like that along the lines of a typical MC.
"I wish such a thing existed back in our world," Liliath sighed.
"My condolences?"
I honestly have no idea what to say. She still cared about her people even though she's no longer there.
"Is the demonstration over?" My mom asked. "Liliath, is it possible to drink water made from magic?"
"It's possible. Most people prefer water made in this way as it is the most pure."
"So it's something like distilled water," Novelle concluded.
Liliath made a puzzled expression.
Don't underestimate this little devil here, though she may be cute and devilish and al', I assure you that she's much more of a genius than I am.
"Distilled water is water without any impurities, purely water," My sister went on to explain.
Liliath nodded as if understanding.
She stood there, both hand placed to the front, elegantly as she listened to my sister's explanation.
Which reminded me of something...
"Liliath, does your world have status systems?"
"Status system? That does sound quite familiar— actually yes. However, such a thing is only limited to heroes."
"Alright, how about this— can you use other elements besides the ones you've said before? Like the healing one— or is that light magic?"
"Um.. there are other kinds of elements though not listed since people who could use them are rarely found. As you have said, healing is a light elemental magic."
"What about dark elemental magic? Or void? Or.."
At that, Liliath showed me a warm smile, her eyes narrowed to a slit and her hands were trembling.
"I'm sorry. Forget I asked that," I shouldn't have done that. I really shouldn't have. But I think I have a grasp of the situation now.. I think. If I remember correctly, Liliath said she grew up in a typical 'isekai' fantasy-setting-like world. And in that world she lived in— Demon Lords existed.

In the living room, Liliath sat on the floor, her hands placed on the table while she wrote away in the math exercise books. Apparently, she had a good foundation when it came to basic arithmetic. Now she's practicing integers, the introduction of negative and positive numbers.
If I were to give you an honest opinion, Liliath is a freaking genius. She was able to grasp the concept of that entire chapter when I merely explained a few example questions. Not to mention understanding mathematical notations such as the usage of brackets.
While she was busy doing that, I checked the quest board on my phone.
