I was asked a question today by a three year old and now I can’t sleep because of how philosophical it was.

I was reading some fan fiction and she asked me “What awre you reading?” And I said, “I’m reading a story.” She likes to listen to me read and asked if I could tell it to her but I had gotten up to a dark part and said, “Sorry, it’s an adult story, you’re a bit too young for it.” She asked “Why?” And I responded, “Well, you’re still a kid. You have to wait till you’re a grown up.”

And she then asked, “How old will I be when I stop being a kid?”. I just stood there for a moment, wondering if after I finish school (I’m in Grade 12), will I still be my kiddish self? Will I lose who I am?

So I’m leaving it to you guys, 

When do you stop being a kid and realise your childhood is over? When do you have to stop being a ‘kid’ and start being ‘grown up’? Why can’t we be both?

One of my favourite quotes relates to this, “We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.”

So my readers, will you ever stop playing?
