A posh-looking mysterious man entered through the door. He wore black shoes and a white linen shirt under his sack suit. His complexion of olive, his hair black as a coal. However, King couldn't see his facial features, which were blocked out by the fedora hat he wore.
"Ah! Welcome back to the shop, Mr. Lykaios," Aléxandros greeted with a smile.
Suddenly, after taking a couple of steps in, the man paused. A few seconds later, he turned his head in the three werecats' direction. The three immediately whipped their faces away from his sight.
"What do we do?" King said, feigning placidness.
"Be calm," Pandora answered. "I don't think he'd try anything in here." She wasn't so sure about what she had said, though.
King twitched when someone suddenly placed a hand on his shoulder. It was Aléxandros'.
"Would you mind if I leave you three in here for a moment?" Aléxandros said. "I'll just be tending to the new visitor."
"It's all right. Don't worry about us," Pandora said.
"Well then, Lucas, can you take over for me?"
"Not a problem, sir." Lucas flipped a thumbs up. After that, Aléxandros went to greet the new arrival on the other side of the shop. "Domnișoară," Lucas beckoned to Pandora, "please come. I'll be taking your measurements now."
Pandora got up to her feet and leaned a little close to King. "Don't look at him," she said before moving towards Lucas.
"What do you believe I'm doing?"
Douglas sat beside King, who was stiff as a trunk like he was a bolt stuck on its screw. King couldn't help it; he could feel someone's eye on them. Unconsciously compelled, he turned his head. Douglas unconsciously copied him. And the next thing that happened, the alpha's eyes met with theirs.
King and Douglas whipped their heads back.
"He's looking at us," King uttered.
"Why did you look, you idiot?"
"You looked too, you buffoon—"
"Domnule, it's your turn." The two paused their argument when Lucas called King. King pushed Douglas away from him and stood. He took off his hat and walked to where Lucas was. The clothier straightened the measuring tape in his hands and began taking his dimensions.
Lucas was doing his job; King was staring at himself in the mirror when he noticed the far figures behind the tailor. The man from earlier was speaking with Aléxandros, probably small talks or about the garments. He had such a quiet look. Suddenly, King's heart jumped inside his chest when the man turned his head in his direction. He whipped his gaze away.
It felt like forever until Lucas finished taking his measurements. "All right. I think that's all," Lucas said. He had them fill up a paper afterward. After that, King, Pandora, and Douglas exchanged glances. Pandora closed her eyes and adjusted her coat jacket. "We'll be on our way now then, if that's all," she said.
Lucas raised his brows. "Would you like to wait for sir Alexandros?"
"We would love to. But unfortunately, we have to deal with some commitments."
"I understand," Lucas said. He called Aléxandros.
Aléxandros turned to look at them and raised his brows. "Are you three leaving already? Why not stay for a bit?"
The three considered, but there was a threat near them. They didn't know about this threat, though. He was alone, and he looked too calm, too composed than their previous encounters. But they knew he was a Lykaios. And that he was one of the alphas. Too risky.
"We do want to, but there is some business we have to attend to," Pandora said. "Perhaps another time before we leave."
The man beside Alexandros listened. The dressmaker himself sighed. "Very well. I'll see you again. Today is not our last after all."
"Don't jinx it, Aléxandros," King said, slightly grinning. The alpha studied him.
Aléxandros chuckled. After that, they bid their farewells. The three werecats were hurrying to go on their way out, with King only being a step out of the shop's door, when—
"Excuse me."
The person's voice was velvety smooth, one that was confident and pleasant on the ears. King's heartbeat, however, rose from it. He stiffened when he heard footsteps come from behind him. He was sure it wasn't Lucas and Aléxandros. So that leaves...
King balled his hands inside his coat's pockets. He readied himself for what he thought might come next. But when he turned his head, he became muddled. The garnered impression he had of the alpha slowly dissolved when he allowed his gaze to glide over the person. The man had such a soft expression, unlike the image he had inside his head.
King's mouth slightly opened when the alpha held out something to him. He looked at it and realized it was his hat. His hand then crawled to his temple, and he realized he had forgotten that he had placed it on top of a rack from earlier due to them rushing.
"I think this is yours," the man said.
"Uh, thank you—" King's stomach did a backflip, and he found himself reverted to a wee baby when he raked his gaze up. Now so close, he could distinguish how the man looked under the shadow of his black fedora hat — raven-haired, tall, and intense green-blue-eyed. Then the man smiled, his opal-shaded eyes never leaving King's. Despite being abandoned by words, heat seems to have spread in King's body in a generous amount. He turned red.
King immediately took the hat, covered his head with it, and focused on weaving something inside his blank thoughts. "Uh, yeah. I mean... yeah— I mean, thank you! I was going to say thank you. T-thank you, sir." King cursed himself.
The alpha looked amused, and he smiled again, the gleam in his eyes pulling King into a state of blank panic again. He was handsome — awfully handsome. "Not a problem," he said, and King was robbed of his words again.
"King," said a familiar voice King suddenly couldn't comprehend whose. He felt someone grab his arm, so he whipped his head back, seeing Pandora. "Let's go," she said calmly while glancing at the gentleman.
King felt like he was suddenly awoken when he saw her. He blinked his eyes a couple of times and opened his mouth to say something, but only an empty exhale was what he emitted. "R-right," it took a moment for him to answer. Then Pandora pulled him away. Before she did, she had already given the stranger a quick lookover. The way he looked at King? There was no room for doubt.
Pandora stared at King, who looked a bit red. Knowing him and the other factors related, this would definitely become a pain in the ass. She sighed.
