“How many of you worthless pieces of shit have used Idiosyncrasy, eh?” Haizaki asked. “I know Rakuten had used it, but sadly, she is dead; what a waste!”
Sketa, Kyoto, Momoku and Fusan looked towards Rintaro, expecting him to lead the conversation. He signalled them to be quiet and looked at Haizaki with fury in his eyes.
“Leave Daikidageda right now and I promise you, we will forget that this ever happened. We will continue existing in our bubble here on Daikidageda and never look towards your planet.”
Haizaki began laughing hysterically, “Else?”
“We will fight you.” Rintaro glared at him, as he tried to stand tall in Haizaki’s face.
Haizaki held his abdomen, as he began laughing harder, trying to control himself from falling down. “Do you imagine how difficult it would be to fight me? I alone can annihilate all of you.” The laughter on his face faded into a cruelty. Haizaki clenched his teeth and his left foot transformed into a sharp claw. In a swift motion, he left a thumping blow on Rintaro’s chest, flinging him a few meters away, scratching his skin in the process.
“Haizaki, no!” screamed Fusan, as she tried to stop him from hurting Rintaro further. Rintaro crashed on the ground and started coughing due to the strain left by the smack on his lungs.
“Fight me, Rintaro!” Haizaki commanded. “I am here, right in front of you. Why are you so weak? FIGHT ME!”
Rintaro tried getting back up on his feet, but the immense pain in his ribs did not allow him to.
“One more time,” Haizaki paused, “How many of you worthless pieces of shit have used Idiosyncrasy? Did you all inject Midohira crystals infused with a creature’s DNA in your body? I will take you all back with me to the Earth.”
He looked around, gazing into their frightened eyes. The silence was making him even more impatient. He turned sideways and spotted Fusan.
“How could I leave you behind, beautiful?” he winked, as he pulled her closer, leaning in for a quick kiss. “I have missed you, my dear. I cannot leave you back here. I am definitely taking you back with me.”
Fusan did not retract, as she let Haizaki have his way, leaning in further into the kiss.
Haizaki stopped abruptly, pushing Fusan away, “Ah… It seems as though you all are eager to go with me. I cannot wait to show you how we torment our captives! I will start with you.” Haizaki said as his evil golden eyes started glared towards Sketa. He bent down to lift her up.
“Leave her al-” Rintaro was cut short.
“SILENCE!” Haizaki ordered, sending chills down their spines.
A reluctant Sketa tried resisting Haizaki by landing weak punches on his torso, as he tried to lift her up in his hands. Annoyed by the resistance from Sketa, Haizaki started dragging her along the ground, drawing out deeper screams of agony, as the rocky ground bruised her limbs.
Right when Haizaki was about to pull her up, a rock hit his head from the back deafening him momentarily. Irritated, he held his head in his hands and he looked around to see Rintaro holding a rather large rock in each of his hands. Unable to control his fury, Haizaki transformed completely for a second time, letting out a loud screech in the process, forcing everyone except Rintaro to shut their ears. Haizaki started sprinting towards Rintaro as one of the rocks was being hurled his way. Haizaki dodged the first one easily and leaped high in the air to gain some momentum. He turned around and prepared himself to take a dash at the ground.
Rintaro braced for a wildly approaching Haizaki, aiming the last and only piece of rock in his hand.
“I cannot miss this.” he mumbled as he took an aggressive stance. “Is it time?” he wondered. Will it be my end, right here, right now?”
He saw Haizaki approaching closer with every passing moment. His breathing paced up along with his heartbeat. He tried remembering Rakuten’s face for the last time. “Will I ever meet you again, Raki?” he murmured. “All I wanted was a peaceful and happy life with you, which is why I chose to entertain the idea of letting Jizen into our lives and introduce us to Idiosyncrasy. How did we get here? Is there a life after death? Will I see you on the other side?”
The bright light cast by the blazing sun suddenly turned into a dark shadow. Haizaki was right above him, blood trickling from his claws onto Rintaro’s face.
“Take a look to the sky, just before you die.” Haizaki screeched.
Right when he was about to strike, a louder screech reverberated through the sky, loud enough for even Haizaki to get distracted from his course. He reduced his pace and started fluttering his wings to stabilize himself mid-air, and stare in the direction of the noise. Everyone turned their heads around to get a clearer view of an eagle that was approaching them at a tremendous speed.
Puzzled and panicked, Haizaki wondered, “Who could it be? Jill and others are in chains.” He looked around hastily, in an attempt to find his allies, but they were not to be seen in the vicinity.
“It-” he said with a sense of shock in his eyes, “It cannot be!”
“RAKI?” yelled a thrilled Fusan, as Rintaro looked towards her, unable to believe the series of events transcribing before him.
A fully transformed Rakuten looked down on Haizaki and screeched again, a lot angrier this time. Rakuten outstretched her large brown wings and dived awfully close to Haizaki. He made an unsuccessful attempt to defend himself by moving to his side, however, it was not enough. Rakuten was charging towards him, at a full tilt, faster than he could process his thoughts and act upon. Rakuten rammed into Haizaki, sending waves of excruciating pain through his entire body. The collision made Haizaki lose his control in the air and he crashed on the ground, almost uprooting a small tree in the vicinity.
“How could she be so agile?” he thought to himself. “It took me a while to gai-” he felt a few rocks being pelted towards him from all directions. Kaaron, who had arrived at the scene, hiding behind bushes, was charging towards him, with a large log of wood in his hand.
Realizing that aerial battle was the only way for him to remain unharmed, Haizaki got up on his feet, rather hastily. He leaped forward and started flying, barely missing the log being slammed by Kaaron. He looked down below to see them all gather around the chief, who had arrived alongside Kaaron. The chief fully transformed into a quahog, growing a large hard shell around him.
“Get in, everybody!” he said, letting them in his protection. “Run, Haizaki, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!”
A bewildered Haizaki barely found sufficient time to balance himself mid-air, as he saw Rakuten fly next to him, landing one shoulder push after another, trying to push him over the side. Rakuten directed her sharp claw towards Haizaki, piercing his sides. He started bleeding profusely. Change of pace being his primary strength, Haizaki switched the direction he was flying in, angling towards the denser region of the woods. He swiveled through the taller trees, causing Rakuten to lose some of the momentum she had gained on him.
“That is how I use my experience in flying. You are new to this world. Catch me if you can, Rakuten!” he screeched, trying to entice Rakuten in following him.
Rakuten was not experienced enough to fly through the dense forest, however, the mountains and cliffs of Midohira were etched in her memory. Rakuten soared high up in the sky and started flying over the woods, hoping to intercept Haizaki head on in the opposite direction.
She zoomed past the woods and glided over the opposite end, waiting impatiently for Haizaki to appear, so that she could take him down. She heard the rustling of leaves as he approached closer to the end of the denser region of the forest. A sense of astonishment began appearing on his face, as he saw Rakuten waiting to pounce on him.
Rakuten directed her claws towards Haizaki. He tried dodging her attack by moving around, only to realize that it was a fake intimidation from Rakuten. She flew closer to him and pierced his right wing with her claws rendering them useless. She pecked his shoulder with her hard beak, further hurting him physically. Unable to fly anymore, he crashed into the ground, rolling a few times over. Haizaki let out a wild agonized scream.
“Take a look to the sky, just before you die.” Rakuten screeched, anger and disgust strewn within, as she started assailing towards him.
