Rigby quickly walked down the hall, he shouldn’t have stopped by his locker before class. Now he was going to be late for sure. Rigby ran through the door right as the bell rang, he didn’t realize he was that fast. 

“Thank you for joining us Mr. O'Connor, please take your seat.” Mr. Matthews said as he nodded at Rigby and turned his attention towards the board. Rigby quickly ran to his desk, trying to avoid making eye contact with the rest of the class. 

“Glad you made it. I had to admit I was starting to worry that something happened to you again.” Alfred whispered as Rigby sat down next to him. He felt his cheeks heat up, why did he like that Alfred was worried about him. 

“No, I just stopped at my locker to grab my second copy of the book I was telling you about,” Rigby whispered as he opened his bag and handed the book to Alfred. 

“Awesome! I’ll start reading it tonight.” Alfred quietly said as he accepted the book from him and slipped it into his bag. 

“By the way, when we get together tomorrow after school we're having that soccer match I'm going to win,” Alfred said as he glanced over at Rigby. 

“You're so full of it, I'm going to win,” Rigby said as Mr. Matthews smacked his ruler on his desk drawing everyone's attention to the front of the room. 

“I never thought I’d have to say this but Mr. Reynolds, Mr. O'Connor my class is not a social hang out. I must ask you to hold your conversation for after my class. Any other teacher's class is fine but please not mine.” Mr. Matthews said, smiling at them as he returned his focus to the board. 

“Sorry” they both apologized in unison as they focused back on the lesson. Rigby fell back into his thoughts as Mr. Matthews drawled on with his lesson. He was happy being friends with Alfred, it was nice. He finally had a friend to spend time with. Yet there was something more he wanted. Rigby felt his face go red as the image of them kissing each other popped into his head. Rigby sank in his seat a little as he humored the fantasy for a moment. Why was he lying to himself? Of course, he liked being Alfred's friend because he LIKED Alfred. Rigby sighed as he brushed the fantasy out of his brain. That wasn’t even a possibility for him, he needed to get over it. He had a good thing going right now the last thing he needed was his stupid crush messing it up. He could deal with these feelings later. Rigby jumped in his seat as the bell rang. Of course, he had wasted another class just daydreaming. 

“I’ll see you tomorrow Rigby. I’ll text you later!” Alfred said as he ruffled his hair and ran off to his next class. Rigby smiled as he fixed his hair and watched Alfred run out of sight. Suddenly he was slammed into the lockers and out of his fixated trance. 

“What the hell!” Rigby squeaked out as Elinor Chapman grabbed him by the shirt and held him against the lockers. 

“What are you trying to pull here?” Elinor growled at him, Elinor was taller than him by like two feet, her golden hair hung in strands in front of her glaring blue eyes. Rigby thought Elinor looked as if goldilocks had married, baby bear and they had a pretty bear cub. 

“What are you talking about?” Rigby frantically asked her as he tried to find a way out of this situation. He had no idea what was going on. 

“You know what I’m talking about! Don’t you dare try and play dumb with me! I know you're trying to take my precious Alfred away from me. Well, I'm not going to let you!” Elinor shouted as she slammed him into the lockers once again. 

“I don’t know what you mean! We're just friends.” Rigby spat at her as she calmed down a little. 

“Then take this as a warning, stay away from Alfred,” Elinor growled as she slammed him into the lockers then skipped away. Rigby took a few deep calming breaths as he watched her round the corner. That girl was a psychopath. 

Rigby sighed as he walked in his front door. He was still a little sore from when Elinor flipped out on him. Rigby tossed his bag next to the couch as he walked into the kitchen. 

“Hey kid, how was school?” his father asked from his room.

 “Uh… interesting…. I guess.” Rigby muttered as His father walked into the kitchen. 

“What’s wrong Redford?” His father asked as he leaned against the counter. 

“Nothing, just some conflicting feelings.” Rigby sighed as he grabbed something to drink out of the fridge. 

“Somethings eating at you, Redford, We both know it'll continue until you talk about it.” his father said as Rigby went and collapsed onto the couch. He knew his dad was right, but he didn’t want to admit it. 

“Come on now, you can spill your worries outta that head o’yours.” his father said as he sat down in the chair across from Rigby.

 “I think I’m in love with Alfred.” Rigby blurted out as he quickly covered his mouth and sat up and looked at his father like he had made him say it. 

“W-w-wait…. I-... I-I didn’t mean that.” Rigby stuttered out embarrassed with himself as his father just smiled at him. 

“Where the tongue slips, it speaks the truth.” his father said as Rigby sank into the couch in defeat, he had meant it. He should’ve just gone straight to his room when he got home. 

“So you like Alfred, what's wrong with that? He’s a good kid and he seems like good husband material.” His father shrugged as Rigby could feel the embarrassment in his face. 

“Dad please don’t say that that's weird. B-b-besides, whoever said I’d marry him?” Rigby said as his father just smiled at him. 

“No, but what's stopping it from happening?” His father asked. Rigby sighed, his father was always so optimistic. 

“He’s not gay dad. Not only that but all his other friends hate me, and this crazy chick Elinor is obsessed with him and keeps calling him her’s. They're not even dating and she’s so possessive of him! She attacked me in the hallway just to tell me to “stay away from what's hers.” that girl is batshit crazy.” Rigby ranted as his father just calmly listened to him.

 “Have you asked him?” his father asked after Rigby had finished. 

Rigby looked at him confused “Asked him what?” 

“have you asked him if he’s gay or not? You can’t just assume these things, Redford. People can and will surprise you, just as much as they can surprise themselves.” his father stated as Rigby thought about it. His father was right, he couldn't just assume things. It was like when he came out too his dad and found out that his dad was pansexual. Rigby had just assumed he was straight because his dad had never said anything about it. 

“I haven’t asked him,” Rigby mumbled as his father just nodded his head. 

“Well until you do, don't get your hopes down, as for his friends it doesn't matter what they think of you because they don't know you. As for that Elinor girl try and steer clear o’her and if she tries anything again you let me know and she won't wake up for a year.” his father said as he stretched. 

“Thanks, dad, I don’t feel as bad now,” Rigby said as his father smiled at him. 

“That's what I'm here for.” his father said as he got a message on his phone. Rigby watched as his father read the message and blushed a little.

 “What’s that?” Rigby asked as his father cleared his throat and set his phone down. 

“Nothing that concerns you if that's what you're wondering.” his father said, teasing him a little. 

“Just tell me if I can tell you about my love life you can tell me about this,” Rigby said as his father rolled his eyes at him. 

“I got asked out on a date tonight, but I'm probably not going to go.” his father said as Rigby stared at him in shock. 

“Close your mouth kid. It's not that surprising that someone is attracted to your old man is it?” His father asked, getting slightly self-conscious. 

“NO! Not at all! I just thought you’d be the one to ask someone out on a date. And what the hell do you mean you're not gonna go!” Rigby said as his father laughed at him.

 “First watch your language Redford, and Second I mean I'm not gonna go because I have a kid to take care of and he’s got school tomorrow.” His father chuckled as Rigby rolled his eyes at him, of course, his dad was trying to use him as an excuse. 

“I can handle myself for a night dad. Now you tell whoever that is, that you're going with them tonight.” Rigby said as his father smiled at him.  

“Well then, I will. But I expect you to get to bed at a decent time if possible and no people over if you can help it.” His father said as Rigby rolled his eyes at him. 

“Who did ask you out though?” Rigby asked as his father just shrugged. 

“That's something you can find out later.” his father chuckled as Rigby sighed. Of course, his dad was going to keep it a secret. 

“Now get out o’here and get your homework done.” his father said as he ushered Rigby to his room. 

“Have fun dad!” Rigby called after him as he closed his door. He was glad his dad was finally getting another chance at love. If anyone deserved it, it was his dad.
