“You hereby have authorisation from Thetrex High Command to use prohibited weapons on Alavon targets. All previous treaties with foreign powers are to be considered non-binding. All Alavon Council and Alavon-protected assets are to be considered legitimate enemy targets. Standby for fleet orders.”
The Commander of the Third Thetrex Fleet read the rest of the notice in their cabin without the slightest outside hint of emotion. They were well-trained to only display expressions that would be beneficial to morale or diplomacy. It was an unwritten requirement for any soldier of the Empire seeking advancement beyond Lieutenant. This commander was responsible for about half of the Thetrex Empire’s offensive capabilities, with a little under 3 billion souls at their command. He could fulfil the requirements.
He was somewhat concerned with the lack of security around the message. It was given an encryption level normally provided to personnel changes or political news from home. If this was intercepted, it could cause a major diplomatic incident. Though the notice suggested that diplomatic concerns were not of top priority anymore. It was a shame. They were starting to get used to their role as an ambassador to Alova, despite their unique resume.
They realised, half amused and half annoyed, that this moment would be considered historic. Their brief diplomatic training forced them to give some thought as to what their next words should be, for official record. Then his more extensive tactical training took over and they realised that whatever said could be edited later for the records. Probably would be, since there were people paid to do that. So, they decided that there was no reason to not personalise the moment for himself.
“Well, shit.”
