Brennan took a deep breath and put on his gauntlet. As usual the sounds coming from inside the room indicated the raging battle occurring. This was what Brennan was going to be dealing with on a daily basis so he decided not to avoid it.
He really hoped his gauntlet would not be damaged though, because after he oiled it he planned on selling it. Best case scenario, he would not have to use it. Luckily rodent type demonic beasts had very strong front teeth, so he should be fine. He pressed on the door, took one last deep breath, and walked into the hellscape of his room.
Immediately he was greeted with an arrow that whizzed past. Brennan felt a slight burn on the side of his cheek. He ran inside, making a dash towards the bathroom, it being the only safe space in the dorm room. Unfortunately, he was blocked by Oliver.
"Hey, you're that commoner that was in our class this morning with no element. What are you doing here."
"I'm your roommate, no time to explain, let me into the bathroom!" Brennan prayed that Oliver would let him in, but Oliver stood strong in front of the door, continuing to question him.
"Do you have proof that you're our roommate?" Oliver asked
"Um, I have my ID in my backpack. But please, please, please let me in first."
"Nope, you can take it out first." Clenching his teeth, Brennan pulled off his backpack after checking on the direction of Angela's bow shots. He opened the front pocket and pulled out his student ID, indicating his name, dorm room number, homeroom class, element, and status within the school.
Oliver took his time looking at it, not caring for the stray arrows wandering their way.
"Tch. But do you really need to come into the bathroom?"
"Thank you, and yes I do." Brennan hurried on into the bathroom. But right before he could enter, an arrow that was deflected by Lawrence flew their way at an amazing speed. There was no way the affinity-less Brennan could dodge the fire and lightning charged arrow. He put his gauntlet and braced for impact.
Yet before he could even react, the arrow lodged itself into a brick wall that seemingly appeared out of thin air. Brennan opened his eyes and saw Oliver squatted down with his hands in the ground. A magic circle of brown mana was formed, with triangles formed by the 2 concentric circles that made up the array.
"What a pathetic commoner, can't even defend himself." Oliver said frustratingly.
"Oh, you be quiet, what new...oh." Angela saw Brennan. Even after the shocking discovery of Brennan not having an element, he was still a very respectable person. Angela often wondered how one could be so passionate about something, and Brennan was a prime example of that.
When she was outside playing with her friends, she would see Brennan inside the library reading up on magic and demonic beasts.
She came to have deep respect for his love and passion for learning about magic, and she was also deeply disappointed when he ended up without an element.
"Wait, Brennan, you're our roommate? Why didn't you tell me anything." Lawrence asked disappointingly.
Levi was sitting in the corner of the room playing with a new dagger, his hair gelled nicely as usual. He took notice of the well made tiger claw gauntlet, but didn't say anything.
"Sorry, I couldn't find the right time." Brennan found Jackson hiding in the bathroom once again, unsure of what to think of him. Of course he had great respect for Jackson's ancestor, but could tell that he had little confidence in comparison.
After cleaning up the room with Brennan preventing infighting between the nobles, They sat down in the middle of the room. The double bunk beds were placed on 2 sides of the room except for the door and bathroom. Looking at the dorm room now that it was not a raging battlefield, it was a lot bigger than Brennan had originally thought. There was a window with a bunk bed next to it opposite to the door, a bathroom and a mural on the left, and 2 more beds on the right. A lamppost was placed in the corner of the room between 2 beds. Since they did not have anything else other than their backpacks, luggage of clothes, and personal belongings, there was quite a bit of space to sit.
After talking about what they learned in class today, they discussed what could possibly have stopped school early and requested the help of all experienced teachers. If it was just all teachers, it might have been because of an accident or something smaller, but requesting all combat teachers to gather was definitely concerning.
After deciding there was nothing the 6 of them could do, they decided to practice their magic. Of course Lawrence and Angela felt pretty bad for Brennan because he would feel a bit left out, but he was still able to perform fire magic.
Brennan asked them about the weapons they manifested with mana, and they were the mid-level spells lightning sword and fire bow. The power of these weapons were dependent on the amount of mana used.
Each level of magic was split into 2 parts. There are basic spells, basic arrays, intermediate spells, intermediate arrays, advanced spells, and advanced arrays. Arrays required more mana and time to cast, so they were stronger than spells. Spells are also easier to cast, which is why Angela and Lawrence are able to cast intermediate spells.
After stopping another fight between the 2 nobles, they brushed their teeth, showered, and sat there on their beds. Brennan had wondered how they were going to shower considering other dorm rooms are only one gender. Basically they were all kicked out of the room when Angela had to shower.
It was still kind of weird, but Brennan guessed that Uncle Leonardo wanted him to stop Angela and Lawrence from fighting so that they could concentrate on their studies. At this point the thing carrying their grades were their talents and background, which could be a problem later on.
