“I know now. It’s Cliff. It has always been Cliff Jenkins. He made me feel like home!
I need to go back home.”
Gowan left his private room in the jet and headed for the small shelf at the rear end of the plane. He pushed aside his boxes of dinosaur plushies in haste, desperate to find it. Eventually, he had found what he was searching for. The parachute. There was no time left to spare! It is now or never.
Gowan placed Cliff’s purple dinosaur and gummy bears in the backpack and slung the bag over his back. He stomped over to the front of the plane. “Iron! Drive the plane back to Solace Creek airport! I’ll go back to Cliff!”
“S-sir...what about your ho-” Iron saw the determination in Gowan’s eyes. He had never seen the man’s eyes full of passion and life and just nodded. “Roger that Sir. Westerly” He said while giving Gowan a thumbs up.
Gowan went back to the center of the jet and opened the door. The difference in pressure immediately flung the man out of the jet. Before he knew it...he was flying just above the treehouse of the petite male.
“...I guess...I have to go back to sleep…” Cliff said with a yawn. His eyes caught a glance of a dark figure falling from the sky above. He squinted at the figure and could barely make out the shape.
He realized. It was Gowan!
He leaned over the window with a gaping mouth while the black haired male angelically descended from the sky to the window.
Gowan ducked under the window and landed just on top of Cliff. They were both a blushing mess. For a moment, they just lay there, absolutely shocked until Gowan broke the silence.
“C-Cliff...I’m sorry...I’m so stupid…”
Tears fell from Gowan’s eyes and onto Cliff’s freckled face. He never thought the black haired man would ever come back for him...but he’s actually here!
Cliff embraced Gowan. “Cliff are you alright?”
The petite male just lay there, hugging the large male on top of him. With a sob he said “No you dummy! You fired me!”
Gowan sat up straight and said “Cliff...I’m sorry...I was not thinking properly...I know now…”
“Know what, Gowan?”
Gowan placed his big rough hand on Cliff’s smooth ones and gazed at his eyes.
“It’s you.”
“It’s you, Cliff…”
“You’re my home.”
Cliff’s eyes widened and started to tear up as well.
“Cliff, My parents they...they never...um…I-I don’t know how to explain this...”
“I get it, Gowan. I understand, I really do…” Cliff said with a smile “You don’t have to explain everything...have your parents been against this?”
Gowan nodded and all Cliff could do was smirk.
“I wasn’t thinking properly as well…” Cliff continued. “I realize something important Gowan…”
“I love you, Gowan.”
“But…”
Cliff stared at the black haired man’s eyes.
“I’m not your home…”
Gowan was taken aback by this. Why wasn’t Cliff his home?!? Does this mean he didn’t wanna be with Gowan? Gowan couldn’t understand.
“W-wait...Cliff, you ARE my home!” Gowan held Cliff’s cheek.
“No, Gowan…”
Cliff took Gowan’s hand and placed it on his own chest.
“You are your home.”
“I love you but I can’t fix you Gowan. I’m not a fairy that can magically make your insecurities go away. You need to learn how to feel at home with yourself. You need to learn how to love yourself…”
Gowan gave the petite male a saddened look and said “so...w-we can’t be a thing?”
Cliff immediately embraced Gowan. “Not at all...I may not be able to fix you but...I can still help you!”
They looked at each other. “Let me help you to help yourself, Gowan…to make you feel okay on your own.”
Gowan gave Cliff the widest smile he could’ve possibly make. “I-I can’t wait to be educated on self-love...Cliff Jenkins… although...how...can I ever forgive myself...for hurting you?”
Cliff kissed his cheek.
“You already did half of the apology, Gowan. Saying sorry is just half of the apology! Do you know what’s the other half?”
Gowan gave him a perplexed look “What is it?”
Cliff cupped Gowan’s face with his own hands and said
“Actions”
“Actions to show that you learned from your mistakes. And I know just what you can do to redeem yourself.”
Gowan raised his eyebrow. “Uh...do you want all my dinosaur plu-”
The black haired man was cut off by the lips of the petite man’s lips on his. The world seemed to stop and it was just them two in the big wide world.
They parted lips and Gowan was speechless. Cliff giggled childishly. Gowan regained his senses and said “You’re hired, Sir Jenkins. Hired as my official boyfriend.”
The two of them smiled at each other and smooched once more.
