Year 3002
Midohira, Daikidageda
“Mujika, Jinx and Jill are restrained, held captive by five of them.” Sayla said, sounding a bit concerned, “Do your thing, Prassaca.”
Prassaca scratched her head trying to determine the most optimal way of releasing their fellow squad members. She looked up to spot darker clouds gathering in the sky, while swiftly adjusting the violin which she was holding in her hand. Prassaca plucked one of its strings with her finger and closed her eyes, in wonder.
“I don’t completely agree with what the chief said." she began. "Mujika is the most suited for this type of combat, but she usually takes more time to transform as compared to Jinx. We need him to transform and use his might to disrupt the five enemies."
“But, Jinx would take a while to gain momentum and charge at the enemy. If they dodge him once, he loses all of it. Mujika, on the other hand, can shoot her quills from a distance to paralyze the enemy.” Sayla snapped.
“Correct, but we could free up only one of her arms, and she can transform partially, and shoot some of her quills to paralyze the captivators, while you release Jinx. Based on the data that I possess, Mujika can easily shoot up to fifty quills in a minute when she transforms fully, with nearly half of them hitting the target, if she has the desired time to aim and then shoot. If we set one of her arms free, she would be able to shoot about thirteen quills in a minute. Considering that she would need to perform under pressure, I would predict at least five of her quills to hit the target in that one minute. You have a minute to free up Jinx.”
“Nerd!” exclaimed Sayla rolling her eyes.
“I guess this is what it means to be a dolphin.” Prassaca said, as she pursed her lips. “I will distract the captivator standing next to Mujika making her come towards me, while you use your camouflage to release Mujika." she said calmly. "Hmm... Go for her right arm, the accuracy is a bit better.” she said in a flat voice.
“And what about the four captivators around Jinx and Jill?” Sayla asked.
“As soon as you set Mujika free, the remaining four would definitely make a run towards her, trying to restrain her again. This buys us time to release Jinx, who can start causing a stampede.” Prassaca responded.
“How could you definitely say that they would all run towards Mujika?” Sayla snapped.
“I know they will. Humans are dimwits, they rely on emotions. A small amount of emotion can greatly influence their decision making abilities and they start behaving like mindless beings. Their responses to stimuli are not efficient. Haizaki's comrades are strong, they are lethal, but they cannot use their strengths optimally. They will all run towards Mujika, uncivilized and unorganized.” Prassaca said, sounding calm. "Emotions... They are worthless." Prassaca plucked a heavier note on her violin, trying to sustain it as long as she could.
A raging expression grew on Sayla's face, “I am a human myself. Did you just call me a dimwit?”
“Yes, you are indeed, a dimwit.” Prassaca said with a brazen nonchalance etched on her face, “However, you have me. I am the brain, you are the brawn.” she said.
Sayla shook her head in disgust. “And what if they all end up killing Mujika before I am able to release Jinx? What if Mujika misses her quills?"
Prassaca plucked a different string on her violin this time. “No… They would not. That is the best part of my plan.” she said. “Porcupines had started going extinct on Earth about a hundred years ago. Mujika is a rare exception, which makes her a little too precious to be killed. Haizaki would want her alive and his comrades would never dare to kill her.”
Sayla nodded out of reluctance, unable to find ways to argue with Prassaca. They had reached closer to the region where their fellow squad members were held captive. They incremented the stealth in their approach.
“I will see you soon, eh?” Sayla murmured, "And if I don't, I-"
“Have you started feeling the strong emotions? I thought you were different.” Prassaca rolled her eyes.
“This could well be the last time we see each other. There is still a little bit of human left in me, unlike you. Why would you feel sad for such an extreme moment though? Phew! You should pluck one of your strings, for yourself, someday.” Sayla sighed, as she rubbed her face with her palms.
“I do not intend to feel them. Emotions… They are worthless.” Prassaca said, as she continued rolling her eyes.
She turned around and walked towards a boulder, hiding herself behind it, as she watched Sayla transform. Her four limbs morphed into her primary tentacles and the hair on her head collated to form four more. She flexed her newly grown eight tentacles, trying to grip the rocks and trees around her, to warm them up.
“I remember the last time I was involved in a fight with that bitch Aisa.” Sayla said, as her face turned red with anger. “Two of these are almost useless now.” she said, waving her tentacles in the air. I cannot wait to strangle her back with these.” Her heartbeat paced up rapidly, as the memories enraged her.
Prassaca twitched her ears and turned around to face Sayla. “Hmm… Anger.” she said, trying to think hard. “I can fix this.” She played a series of three notes, staring into Sayla’s eyes.
Sayla could feel her mind calm down. Still slightly annoyed, she shut her ears while muting the violin with one of her extended tentacles. “Stop it! Let me express my emotions, at least!”
“Emotions… They are worthless! They hamper your decisions. Aisa is strong; you could not possibly strangle her with your injured tentacles. Keep your sense of vengeance aside and think optimally. Strike with the strongest one.” Prassaca said and continued plucking some more notes on her violin, completely pacifying Sayla.
“How do you do it!” Sayla exclaimed, feeling slightly confident.
“It was easy. The dolphin in me allowed me to hear the frequency of your heartbeat. I remember the ranges of average frequencies of heartbeat associated with every emotion. This is how I gauged your emotion. The dolphin in me also offers me a larger brain, which lets me memorize every musical pattern ever played to express those emotions. I simply played the most accurate pattern of musical notes to complement your mood at every instance, which releases endorphins in your body, in turn calming you down.” Prassaca said.
“Nerd!” Sayla commented as she waved goodbye and shifted her color and shape to blend into the surrounding. The sky had gotten cloudier and it started drizzling lightly, making the air slightly colder.
Prassaca made sure she was out of the line of the enemy. She gawked over the boulder to try and spot them closely. She could see Mujika, Jinx and Jill being held captive. They were bound in a huge restraining device.
“Hmm… Redundancy V1.0!” she sighed. “No wonder, Mujika could not escape it.” She continued staring at the device that Haizaki had created, which could restrain humans from transforming. The device had six huge arms extending omnidirectionally which released a certain form of a digital frequency in a rhythmic pattern to meddle with the blood flow of humans, thereby causing them to not feel the instinct to give in to the animal within.
Prassaca continued staring at Mujika. She sighed again and closed her eyes. “Focus!” she whispered.
She could feel a cool wave make her head throb. Her ears started reverberating rapidly. The reverberating frequencies peaked at a certain point and she could hear different noises at varying frequencies.
“Hmm… Mujika, where are you?” she whispered as she gradually opened her eyes and glanced towards her, restrained within Redundancy V1.0.
