“My name is Velverosa, if you would like to you can call me Vel, for now go pick a room.” 

So I picked a room, and she said I could sleep in the guest room for now.  The next day I got dressed with clothes I found on the end of my bed and ate in the morning. We had some bacon, eggs and a blueberry muffin.

After we went to the store, she had spent the last few days finishing up my room, and I felt guilty she did so much work, while I did nothing to help.

“Can we go outside?” I asked hoping she would say yes.

“Sure, it’s pretty warm today, get ready, we’ll go out in about an hour.”

In an hour I got into something comfortable and went outside. The sky was colorful, there was a cool breeze, and not a cloud in the sky. Unlike the orphanage the sky was bright blue, and her food was delicious.

I put my hair up and looked around.  Her backyard was ginormous and so was her house.  She had 2 adult horses and a baby horse. She told me her and her husband used to ride them.

Outside I smelt a Barbecue, her neighbor Lasandreia was having a barbecue, I said to vel, “in the middle of the morning?”  She shrugged.

After 3 years with her, I was 9. The little birthdays were wonderful, the cake was always my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream cake, which was always her homemade Ice cream. 

I started calling her mom, and I loved her.
