John and Master exchanged blows John received the majority of the blows. However, John was able to land even more blows than Friedrick mainly due to the fact that Master would keep expecting slower movement with such a large blade especially as it was being handled by a kid and single handedly. Yet he was extremely accurate Master knew so many adults trying to do the same thing but failing spectacularly compared to this boy and a noble at that. Once Master was satisfied with the match and able to comfortably know the experience and knowledge that both boys displayed he ended the sharing and stated evenly.
“Well now I am very impressed with both of you. Especially you John as most nobles are fat lazy indulgence delving piles of trash. You actually got in several good blows whether it was just my negligence or your actual skill is up for debate but never the less you deserve the compliment, you took advantage when you saw fit. Friedrick you were also very excellent, you took several less hits than John which means you took advantage of your skills had I been less experienced or weaker I would have definitely received multiple fatal hits from you. John most of your blows were at minimum debilitating blows but not necessarily fatal. Which means you two are a rare pair you compliment each other not just compete against each other. Anyways now all the niceties are out of the way, let me introduce myself again my name is Master. Beginning today I am going to be your teacher, I will not be teaching you fu fu frilly stuff like manners or sewing, got it Bambi. However you will learn to live off the land, weapons, hand to hand, crafting and a few educational things like arithmetic, reading, and even writing as John has declared to my client he wants “MILITARY STRATEGIC ARTS.” Specifically Naval warfare and navigation, that will be your graduation test on an actual vessel.” Master declared all this in a single demeaning breath that both excited the boys and let them know that until they both could no longer take it and then some. Master was there Savior and personal King Ashoka enticing them with grandeur but hiding his torturous plans.
“Alright I know both of you have been practicing with someone else please let me thank them, who, no what is that person’s name.” Master flatly stated.
“Khang T Singh and Yuki Gia” John Snow and Friedrick both said in unison.
“Okay, well rest up for now we will start in a few hours with the supper hunt,” stated Master.
Later that day the boys met up with Master. Master went over a few new traps, introduced them to paralysis poison, and even how to make arrows and bolts for use. As he was showing them these crafts he also explained the idea that helped create all three items and why thinking smarter not harder was important. “Now do you understand the reason why the crossbow was created?” Master asked John and Friedrick.
Friedrick answered the question, “Well if i understand the theory correctly the reason would be because smaller people like myself could not draw the same size that a person of larger build could.”
“That could be a reason but the reason was to quell a rebellion before it began by having a weapon that could be considered so far advanced that would be considered impossible to win by the rebels.” Master corrected
Using these techniques he was able to teach both boys the importance of arithmetic, reading, and writing with just the diagram of two new traps. Then would ask them reasoning for each part of the items like; “Well John, now why do we keep diagrams?”
“That way knowledge doesn’t get lost when the person who invents something passes away.” John stated flatly
Everytime he pulled out a new diagram for anything he forced both of the boys to duplicate each one. However forcing was maybe too strong of a word as both boys wanted to try to replicate them and learn how to create a new anyways. At first John did not care what diagrams were till he saw Master make a new trap that he never seen before by looking at the pictures and follow the instructions. At the same time Friedrick kept messing up by getting lost in the pictures or the instructions wrong. So he hated them for a different reason till he got used to a standard that most followed even though they never met each other.
Going about teaching the boys like this allowed Master to fast pace the boys through what most people found to be bland and boring crap. The three of them went through this routine for almost six months till Master was happy with their reading capability was high enough to give them simple books on weapons and martial arts.
Doing this he was teaching the boys about what actual weapons were. He told them, “that weapons are nothing more than tools that are recognized extensions. However that doesn’t matter if you misuse the tool. For example the use of a fountain pen, if you use this correctly it will give you much gain by spelling words correctly along with proper grammar. However if you misspell a single word you have lost much it might not seem like it but the wear and tear on the pen can never be recouped the ink can never be reclaimed the time you lose correcting is forever gone. This is a minor case now you can take this to an extreme and say, but Master I thought we were talking about weapons. In which case I would say we are, now yes this is but a pen we are talking about but you can still misspell injecting into an opponent say a vein or artery or directly into a heart. However this misspelling will drastically damaging the pen to the point of breaking. This is true with all tools this is a very important lesson to learn. With this being said, I am going to tell you the second lesson there is NO such thing as a WEAPON that which is a tool MODIFIED within a person’s INTENT. You must learn this the most. Example being the use of the sticks I used as a defense against both of you yes all of them were destroyed by being used in a “proper way” but that is because the sticks are part of a branch which is part of a tree. The sticks and branches are used to protect a tree from other softer means such as other trees and animals. So the use of defending against metal was a misspelling also detrimental to the sticks.”
Friedrick then decided to ask Master, “Then why is it that you went through more sticks with John than myself?”
“Haha ah, Friedrick why do you ask such a question when you know just as much as I do know? Well since you asked I shall answer. That is because you had no desire to kill however John wanted to test and to test he had to use some killing desire even if he did not know this himself.”
Master spent 2yrs tampering and forging the boy's ability and taking into account their killing intent he taught them thoroughly to do this properly he used Martial arts. He never let them touch another tool that is designed to be used as an offensive weapon. This drove John crazy several times not understanding why he could not keep working on his ability to wield the Zweihänder as a single-handed swordsman.
Master knowing this said to John multiple times “John if you want to be able to practice with a Sword again there are 3 requirements; 1. Show me how a Sword is made then create the blueprint for yours. 2. Show me you do not need it. 3. Craft the sword and matching Targe.”
John hears this became intrigued and yearning to be able to touch his precious sword again went off to ask as soon as he was dismissed for the afternoon went off to the smith that his father had employed and only one who held the only teaching position in the Guild. Once there, he found out about the ore and basic refining process but the blacksmith said the only way he was going to learn more was to come back tomorrow and learn the ore extraction process and the difference between the rocks themselves. Frustrated John left but was excited, this meant he was closer to holding his sword for more than polishing. Soon he would be allowed to grip his hilt and swing his sword like before and master his favorite strokes and one day be able to do it all one-handed. Because even today if he was not careful he still had to use his other hand for catching. To him, that was embarrassing enough. To be told he had to let it sit for two years only able to stroke it and polish it was not his favorite thing it was almost as bad as finding Friedrick in his bed cuddling him. Not that he really minded Friedrick there but the cuddling would definitely be brought up again by his father and Friedrick’s mother who already has been teasing him treating him as a son even in mixed company forgetting his and her position. He did not really care about the caste system but he worried about his father. Still, tomorrow was just one more day, then he can finally make up for all that lost time.
However, to John’s demise, it was not just one more day this went on for an entire year. First, it was the ore then he learned about weights and balance after which he had to collect his own ore. After the smith made him refine it that took several trips and tries to refine enough 3 months to be exact to get enough to forge the blade according to the smith not that he had done so in those three months. After which the smith made him layout the diagram/blueprint for him to inspect and after 6 tries finally being accepted on the 7th the smith sent him off to collect the materials for the hilt, handle, and a bonding agent.
During the entire time, Master would check in with the smith seeing how John was doing knowing that the normal means for tempering John’s spirit was already well done by his family. He wanted to test him to know what John’s limits really were and each time he was extremely impressed with this boy as Saint like tolerance. Master was having the smith push the boy to make John do every step possible before letting John have a sword again. The master allowed John the use of the Targe whilst sparring or hunting but never the sword or other bladed tools for an offensive weapon knowing that John would then constantly test his physical strength with it like when John and Master first exchanged forms. Knowing full well that it would hinder John as he was currently but he wanted to properly train the little giant.
Friedrick was already well versed in many things so Master knew full well that he could not have Friedrick do the same training. He had to one learn Friedrick more knowing he was keeping secrets. Not to mention the aura that Friedrick has, that was unique but why so he had to spend more time with Friedrick. Was that Friedrick was not very trusting of other people outside his family. Master could only assume that the trust problem stemmed from all the attempts on Edward or lies and deceit that happens once you are apart of the “POWER.” So Master spent John’s year forging trying to figure out what made Friedrick tick. All he could decipher was that Friedrick's level of devotion to the Snow family was on a level that could be considered fanatical. However, his loyalty to John could be construed as soul mate bordering on sexual.
