Keeping emotion in check. (Contex: this story is from a DnD session I had where there were still high conflict between player characters.)
Shortly after a long adventure through a magical grove that had a different magical section, the party found a resting spot in order to regain their strength. Someone had left a note in Shaye belongings to meet in the morning, Far from the group. Shaye is a nigh humanoid creature that can’t control their emotions. No one in that party of adventurers knows Shaye's race. In the morning Shaye met the party member and had a confrontation alone with Paven. Paven had left the note and the first magic user of the group, a high elf merchant, had tried to get through shayes mind about their actions. Shaye screams at Paven “HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CONTROL MY EMOTIONS WHEN WE WERE IN THAT FOREST FOR HOURS WHILE TAHKI IS OUT THERE IN DANGER!” Paven remarked with a sigh. “If this keeps up, the one you seek to save, will die if you don't control your emotion.”
Paven had set up a small area where he suspects a fight may ensue between him and shaye. Though he was surprised as she did bring out her axe and then put it away after telling him she will try to. Paven knows he wouldn't survive a fight with her and her rage, she suspects that when she is mad, she loses control and will kill whoever had put her into that state. Several days had passed since that confrontation between Shaye and Paven, they had reached a mountain that the party had agreed that the enemy will be at or the kidnapper of tahki resides at. Once the party had reached the peak of the mountain, they saw a mutated griffin that now looked like a dragon in some areas. The humanoid wolf of the party remarked that the griffin was the one that had kidnapped Tahki.
Filled with rage, shaye was the first to start the initial attack on the griffin, it wasn't long until someone noticed that there was a cage hanging off the cliff. Within this cage were several body's, one of which had a tail poking out of the side that had the fur pattern of tahki. Paven tried to get through shaye to get her to calm down and try to get Tahki out of the cage as paven knows that shaye is one of the few members who were able to get the cage open into a safe area with her strength. Although it was too late as shaye dealt the killing blow to the mutated griffin. Shaye, still filled with rage, started hacking at the corpse. Once paven was finally able to get through shaye by yelling about tahki is about to die. Once shaye snapped out of her rage she tried to get to the cage. The chains had snapped from weakening from the griffin attacks during the fight. The cost of her emotion not being in check resulted in Tahki plummeting over a cliff that had spanned five hundred feet to the ground.
