Astra, happy and calm,  went and made herself a small but delicious  jam sandwich for breakfast and then started to daydream about her inventions for the day. she imagined how she would one day become the greatest inventor of all time. she would invent a self-writing pencil, a pill that could keep you hydrated and not hungry for 24 hours straight, maybe even more! "wait," she thought. as she was thinking, she came to terms with the fact that a bat couldnt have been blocking all the light out of the window.... it must have been something larger, or at least  a whole colony of bats. But most types of bat were rare in her area, and to have a whole colony just nesting on your window overnight....just wow. That would be almost imposible, considering the chances. huh. 

Astra decided to check it out. She did live in a world of magical wonders, after all.  She opened the door and took a quick glance around the area. nothing special. The sky was blue, the clouds were fluffy, the trees green. But when a closer look was taken, something was definitely off. As she started walking down the street to investigate, she saw a movement in her periferal vision. She turned around to see. A large, black, shadow-like creature was ambling slowly down the long winding drive. She heard multiple screams start to fill the empty silence of the world, sirens of ambulances, police, fire department. She stayed safe in her basement working on a new model of the electric toothbrush she had been making until the looked up and realised that the cries had died down. and it was then that Astra knew, she had to get working on a new invention, and fast.
