“Hello?”

He ignored the voice, despite its youth. She had been right. Nothing in the maze was worth his attention because it put him in danger.

“Sir! I can see you!” the voice giggled. “You’re going the wrong way you know. All you people in blue use the south entrance. That’s ages behind you!”

There was no one there. No one at all. No matter the voice. He wasn’t going to stop or turn.

“C’mon. It’s like you’re trying to get caught. She’s patient, you know. And you’re heading towards her web.”

He paused. He could have slapped himself but …spiders… he despised the creatures with every fibre of his being.

“Hello!” The voice chirped again, he turned when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

It was a girl. He couldn’t quite tell what she looked like between the dim lighting and the dirt.

“I can get you outta here, if that’s what you really want.”
