“Mother, she’s a kittypet!” I hissed, “How can she be fit to be the leader of our clan? Yes, I will admit she is skilled at tracing things, but what if she couldn’t lead it? The clan we’ve been forming and planning since I was 5 moons old could crumble to dust!”
My mother looked down at me, her neon green eyes baring down. She could’ve been mistaken for a tan cat stuck in poison ivy vines, but she is definitely a cat with ivy grown on her. She was terrifying when she was angered.
“Let your father explain, I am not one fit for saying many words.”
Father stood up and paced over to me, “You are correct, there is a chance that the clan might fail with a kittypet, but if this were to work, the results would be unique. If it works, our clan might be more than special. However, if the clan were to crumble, we shall revert back to our original plan.”
My dragon-like tail swished, “I hate to interrupt but-”
“No excuses, Leafcatcher!” Mother hissed, the ivy on her creeping towards me, “she is the leader and you are the deputy, understand?”
I dipped down my head, the horns that laid on my head faced towards my parents, “Yes mother, I'll let her know.”
My father nodded, he paced back to his room with his eyes closed, as usual. I watched as his glowing, yellow-green pelt disappeared around the corner. My mother looked at me and I retreated back to my room.
Sometime later…
I leapt from tree branch to tree branch as I slowly made my way back to the kittypet, I landed right in the center of the clearing and peaked into the small den I made. I saw the brown maine coon sitting in the center staring down at her paws while the owl hooted.
“May I come in?” I asked. It caught the kittypet’s attention and she turned to me.
“Yeah, is there something you need…?”
“No, not exactly, I am here to tell you that you’ve been elected by my parents to become a leader of a project we are working on. But it also means you have to stay here.”
The cat nodded, “Alright! I can do that! I’m Jasmine by the way, sorry for not telling you.”
“It’s alright,” I nodded, “nice to meet you, Jasmine.”
I turned around and leapt into the air, a set of glowing, pale wings appeared and pushed me up into the sky a bit further before disappearing. I landed on a tree branch and parkoured my way back to my room. I breathed in, Ok, she has to be a Firevolley, she has the stripe of red on her, so she has to be a Firevolley. The way that iridescent red stripe glowed just sealed my theory.
I landed on a tree branch that was just outside a tree hollow. I crept inside and laid down on the blanket of leaves. I closed my eyes, it was nice to finally have It away. At last, I fell asleep, listening to the sounds of owls hooting and crickets chirping.
Next morning…
I landed in the clearing, it was a little bit after dawn, the kittypet should be awake. I walked towards the den composed of greenery and saw Jasmine washing her fur. She looked up and happily greeted me.
I sighed, “I discussed more with my parents, you will need to take the name of Flowerstar since you are the leader of Nature Clan. I'm your deputy, just to make sure you don’t cause a war between the clans.”
“Ok, I like the sound of it, Flowerstar, Flowerstar, Flowerstar. I like it!”
I could only sigh as I sat down on the grassy floor, should I tell her about it? It's something my mother and father would like me to inform her about. “I have something to tell you… You... you appear to be a Firevolley. I am not entirely sure how you got this ability but you are still one of them I suppose.” She looked puzzled, I sighed again. This is going to take a while.
“Ugh, I’m surprised you still want to help this kittypet. You really don’t know what is worth it and what isn’t, do you?” It asked, the familiar painted-dog demon appeared not far from the den.
“I'll try, because my parents believe this will work. If they think so, then I think so too.” I snapped.
“A Firevolley is a cat that can summon, control and create fires without getting burned or hurt. Do you understand?”
