The infiltrator’s two-toned gaze washed over the park before her. Several children played on the slides and jungle gym while their parents hovered nearby, but soon her eyes fell to a familiar sight of beauty.
Chocolate locks bounced with each note that played privately through the beauty’s earbuds, ignoring the world with a carefree grace. The infiltrator eyes hugged her curves with each sauntering step the beauty took, quicking her heart.
The infiltrator quickly straightened out her heavy leather coat before running her thumb around the rim of her socks that tightly hugged her thighs before fixing her skirt. She took one final breath to calm herself before she approached the brunette. The infiltrator nearly went unnoticed as she walked beside her.
“Hey,” the infiltrator’s voice was soft, and almost solemn in the whispering emotions that sparked on the edge of her mind, firing in a mix of directions, and her voice barely reached the brunette.
“Sup Eleanor,” she greeted the infiltrator with a warm smile, earning a nod in turn, “Did yah get it?”
“Yeah,” Eleanor presented the thumbdrive before someone else's nerves and adrenaline scratched at the back of her mind, dousing her personal turmoil.
“Ahh! Perfect!” the brunette grinned, but Eleanor’s mind focused elsewhere.
“Where’d that bitch go?! The captain is gonna kill me if he-”
“You never fail to please me Ellie!”
“I-...” the thoughts vanished as Eleanor grew rigid at the brunette’s purposeful wording, “We should get out of here.”
“Why?”
“Why?” Eleanor echoed her question in disbelief. “Because-”
“There you are!” a man cut her off. “Edis Guard, hands up!”
“That,” Eleanor grumbled, ignoring the guard as she jammed her hands into her pockets.
“I SAID HANDS UP!” he snapped, and his grip fell to his sidearm.
“Relax hun,” the brunette cooed, addressing the guard, and she slowly slid her coat off her shoulders to reveal the halter top that did little to keep her modest. “I’m sure we can fix this… I mean… you don’t want to upset my friends… Do you?”
“Shit…” the guard breathed, eyeing her as his cheeks grew warm, but he quickly shook his head, focusing on the part that was much more important to his well being - intricate tattoos that wrapped around her arms and waist. “Y-You’re a spiritess!” he accused her as fear started to rise within him, leaving him more vulnerable than he ever could have imagined, and he drew his pistol.
“Enough!” Eleanor’s voice cut through the air with her eyes flashing, and an unseen force crashed through him, dilating his eyes.
*Thud*
Overwhelming fear had consumed the man, and he was rendered unconscious by the shock.
“Oh, come now Ellie,” the brunette huffed in amusement while a tired sigh left Eleanor, and her two-toned gaze drifted over the now-empty park. “I could have handled him. You don’t want to tire yourself out before tonight after all,” she teased, and a blush broke over Eleanor’s cheeks, nearly breaking her focus.
“That’s- The job is done,” Eleanor tried, “Can we just move on now?”
“You tell me,” the brunette was relentless, “Can we?”
“Tianna!” Eleanor huffed, “We are on a job!”
“So rude,” she feigned a pout, “Guess I’ll just have to remember your behavior for later,” she taunted before she began sashaying away with a wink.
“I-...” a blush threatened Eleanor’s cheeks before she managed to shake it off, and she took a jarring step forward, snagging Tianna’s wrist before yanking her back. “We can’t go that way!” Eleanor reminded her before dragging her off in the opposite direction.
“Why?” she questioned for a moment before her eyes lit up, “Oh right! The guard’s station is that way!” Tianna laughed softly, “But you have to admit, it was a good moment to leave you wanting.”
“I-...What part of on a job do you not understand?” Eleanor huffed as she quickened her pace, sure that those who had been in the park had reached the station by now.
“Speaking of… how are we getting out of here,” Tianna blinked, and Eleanor stopped in her tracks.
“What do you mean?” she pressed while going a bit pale, “You’re the lead… you’re supposed to have this planned out…”
“You’re too cute when you worry,” Tianna laughed softly with a fond smile, and Eleanor clenched her teeth, “You should know by now when I’m teasing you,” she poked her nose, and Eleanor let out a disguise of a sigh, “Carter and Guile will be just around the corner.”
“But Guile doesn’t like taking on unbonded,” Eleanor frowned.
“Yeah, but Carter has a soft spot for you,” Tianna reminded her before she began pulling Eleanor along.
“Still… you can’t just ignore how they feel about it,” Eleanor mumbled.
“Look, if they didn’t want to do it, they could have just said no,” Tianna rolled her eyes before slipping her grip from Eleanor’s wrist to hold her hand, “Don’t worry so much Ellie,” she gave an assuring smile, and Eleanor let out a defeated sigh.
The two rushed their way over the pavement until they rounded a corner to find a man wearing purple pants. His tongue poked out in his focus while he sat on the fence, fidgeting with an old toy that held water and colorful rings, but the sound of their steps soon earned his emerald gaze.
“El! Hey!” his face lit up at the sight of her with his imaginary tail wagging, “How’d it go? Any prob-”
“The guards found us at the rendezvous,” Tianna shrugged with a sigh.
“But…” his eyes fell to Eleanor with concern, “It’s not like you to get caught like that…”
“I didn’t get caught,” Eleanor shook her head, and confusion swept through him, “My run was clean, I-”
“Aren’t we in a rush?” Tianna interrupted with a bit too much amusement for the concern in the air.
“Right…” Carter shook his head clear before the black tattoo banding around his neck started to glow gold against his dark skin, “Ready Guile?” he questioned, and a shadow washed over them as something flew overhead with a whispering growl of disapproval, “O-Okay… then we really should hurry, right bud?” There was a very crooked smile on the poor man’s face while his tattoo continued to glow. “Guards are, uh… closing in, heh,” he gave a nervous laugh before a beast worthy of legends landed beside them with a matching band that glowed.
Feathers and scales of sky and sun colored the creature with blood-stained fangs tracing its deep maw. It lowered itself to the ground with Tianna hastily mounting it, earning a growl, and Eleanor hesitated to move.
“May I…?” Eleanor nervously looked for permission, and the beast sighed.
“This is the only reason we are here, small one,” its voice grinded in agitation, and Carter offered Eleanor a leg up.
“It’s okay El,” Carter assured her, and she reluctantly took his help before he pulled himself up behind her. “Hold on tight ladies,” he couldn’t help the grin of the anticipated flight, and Guile lurched forward, earning a chirp from Eleanor as she threw her arms around Tianna, burying her face in her back. “You okay El?”
“Ye-Yeah…” she was not, and she continued to not be okay as they climbed further into the sky with Guile’s irritation screaming at the back of her mind.
“Just distract yourself hun,” Tianna reached back, gripping her thigh to give her a distraction.
“Ti-Tianna!” Eleanor nearly squeaked, and Carter’s cheeks started to go red before he looked away.
“That’s a nice cloud,” he commented with an awkward smile.
“She fears the height we take, soulkin,” Guile sighed, and Carter’s eyes widened.
“What?” his attention flew to Eleanor with her face still buried in Tianna’s back, “Really?” he pressed, and she gave a reluctant nod, “But I thought-”
“Soulkin… disguise us,” the dragon reminded him without patience as gasps and shouting could be heard from the streets below.
“Ri-Right…” Carter gave a crooked smile, “Got a bit distracted there. Time to go quiet; We are now leaving the safety of the city, ladies,” he informed them, placing a hand on the dragon and closing his eyes.
Lines of gold erupted from his touch, slithering over the dragon until each of its limbs were wrapped in intricate markings that shifted with their own life. Slowly the magic climbed over the riders as well, washing over them like a cool mist, and they became a part of the haze that softened the clouds around them, allowing them to leave the city without a trace.
