Happy Pride!

As many of you know, Take a Hike! has a diverse cast... but you may not have realized how diverse. So let's take a quick look at our couples.

Nikki McKee is 23 years young and a flaming homosexual! Fierce, grumpy, and so done with Dulvelan's crap (but wouldn't you be, too?). As some of you may remember, Nikki is an orphan; he lost both of his parents at age 10 and Felix's family raised him as their own after that. Felix is like a brother to him. Nikki is based on the Silver Egyptian Mau.

Dulvelan Abbadon, the demon hermit is pansexual. He's not too sure about romance, but I guess he's trying with Nikki. He's had a pretty messed up childhood and didn't have the best relationship with his family (especially his elder siblings). The Abbadons are not known for being kind or loving, even to their partners. Hopefully Nikki and his family can teach this demon how to be a good husband - and a father. 

Felix Wilson is a few months younger than Nikki at 22; he's bisexual but leans more towards the masc side of things. Thanks to his parents, Felix is pretty easygoing, but he knows when to take things seriously and when he can clown around. His mother, Cassandra, runs the Lion's Den Cafe, named such as a memorial to Felix's father, Leon Wilson. Felix and his mother are based on the Caracal; Leon is (far too obviously) based on a lion. Felix gets his height from his father, and everything else from his mother.

Tyan, one of the thousands of Imps under Belial, is demisexual (and panromantic). He never thought he would have a relationship, but he's seen others in less-than-romantic relationships. Every relationship he's seen can be categorized as abusive or toxic; the Abbadons are not known for having healthy relationships with quite literally anyone. Tyan, however, wants to try - and Felix is quite willing to teach him. The imps were all made by Belial to be versatile information gatherers; each one is different in some way, but they all have the basic wings, horns, and talons structure.

Professor Bel Donnovan comes in at 38 years young and a very lonely gay. He's honest, tired, and just wants to study plants all day. His favorite alcohol is the apple caramel brandy he fills his flask with whenever he gets the chance. Bel didn't have a great childhood after his mother walked out, but his father did his best to raise Bel and his siblings. The scar over his eye came from an incident when he was just getting out of High School. Bel protected his little sister from her pushy boyfriend and it resulted in several broken ribs, a concussion, and a few stitches. Bel got away with a few bruises and a deep cut over his eye. Though it was to defend his sister, Bel was blamed for the incident and he moved away shortly after. Now that he's an adult, Bel doesn't keep in contact with his family; he's fallen out of touch with them and currently has no plans to get back in touch. Bel is based on the Siberian Tiger; he gets his average stature from his father, but his looks from his mother (his mother was a gorgeous tall woman).

Faunus, the God of the Forest, the Guardian of the Green - he has no age. Gender and sexuality mean very little to the god; he took the form that Bel would find the most attractive. Flowers and vines grow out of his antlers to mirror the season: bright blooming flowers with vibrant green leaves for spring; berries nesting in dark green leaves for summer; aster and primrose surrounded by golden and brown leaves for fall; and red berries with holly leaves for winter. Faunus is based on the Irish Elk, the Megaloceros giganteus, the largest deer species to have ever lived.
