How can I express myself to you?

To you, someone who has no clue

What it’s like to live this kind of life

How can I say what I feel inside

When I hardly feel like I’m alive

And the demons come chasing me in the night?

How can you explain yourself to me?

To me, someone who has never seen

What it’s like to live a happy life

How can you say what you fear

When it’s something I can’t hear 

Over the voices screaming in my mind?

Behind my eyes there are my memories

All of the things that have been haunting me

And they play over and over

In my mind there is music, blissfully

Attempting to hide the imagery

Of pain and fear

Of cuts and tears

Of hands

Traveling to forbidden lands

Of teeth

Grinding, accepting defeat

How can I explain myself to you

To you, someone who never knew

What it’s like to be me?
