Depression is hard
Harder than concrete or marble
Once you are filled with it
You’re stuck in place
Until something comes along
To soften the invisible casing
I used to never wear a seatbelt
I used to wake up every day
And my first thought would be
I want to die today
And so therefore I would never
Look both ways before crossing the street
I would never
Wear a helmet when I rode my bike
And I would absolutely never
Wear a seatbelt
And then one day it began to rain
It rained so hard that the invisible casing
That held me stuck in place
Began to deteriorate
The rain stopped
And the light shined through
And right there under the light
Stood you
You changed me somehow
I wear a seatbelt now
