Axel’s sitting on his bed surrounded by piles of homework when Shawn walks into the room. It appears as if Sean's going to say something when Axel’s phone starts ringing. The caller ID says Kate, so he picks up the phone.
“Hi, Liam!” Kate says excitedly, “We haven’t talked in forever! How are you?”
“I’m good, how are you?” Axel asks in return.
“Good, good. So how’s school going?” She asks.
“Kateeee. Help me! I’m drowning in homework already!” Axel wines. It was a week after Sean's fight and Axel had been falling behind. "I just don't get the 'magic' thing, you know?"
"No, Liam," Kate replies, "I don't know. I am great at magic." She deadpans.
"Kate, sympathize with me a little here. I'm so bad at magic. Like, how are you supposed to shoot fire out of your hands? Wouldn't you burn yourself? And what can the fire do? All it does is cause damage. Is it there only for fighting or are there other purposes? And how am I supposed to-"
"Okay Liam, I get it," Kate interferes, cutting Axel off. "You don't know magic and you're going to fail school. Congrats. Anyway, I gotta go make dinner. Have fun trying not to fail. I'll call you again later when I have the chance."
Axel opens his mouth to respond but Kate already hung up. He sighs and puts his phone down. Well, what can you do? Axel thinks. I guess I'm going to fail school. And with that, he opens up his books to continue studying. No point being there if he wasn't going to try.
Sean gets up from where he's sitting and walks over to Axel.
"Um... Excuse me, Liam, was it?" Sean asks.
"Yes, Liam," Axel responds rather rudely. Sean can't be friends with him.
"Well, I couldn't help but overhear your phone conversation," Sean continues hesitantly. "You see, I'm pretty good at magic, and you seem to be struggling, so I was thinking maybe I could help you?" Sean asks, scratching the back of his neck. What should I do?! Axel thinks. I can't be friends with him but he is good at magic, and I am going to fail if I don't get help...
"That's really nice of you," Axel replies, a little less rudely.
"It's the least I could do since you helped me out last week," Sean says.
"Alright then, if you're up for it, I accept your offer."
