The tightness in Marcos' chest eased as he sees Diana leave the room and walk away from Balthazar. The master's old friend didn't deserve to know about his granddaughter's existence, especially after everything he'd done to Diana's mother and father. Marcos lamented the fact that they had arrived before Balthazar's death. No doubt, with Balthazar dead, Diana's safety would be assured.
"After my father's recovery, what are your plans, wizard?" Lucian's calm voice pulled Marcos from his thoughts.
“We'll leave as soon as possible,” Marcos said in a firm voice.
“Then I would like to ask Miss Diana to stay longer on the property. I would like your help to convince her,” said the young master, sitting in the armchair beside his father's bed.
The mage's sneering laugh filled the room. In response, Lucian condemned him for it. The wizard had no idea how serious his request was. Lucian wanted to keep Diana by his side. No, he needed her by his side.
"I don't understand the reason for the laugh, Marcos, I've never been so serious in my life" something in the young master's voice sent a shiver down the mage's spine.
“Are you crazy, boy? I'd never let Diana stay longer than necessary! Get this ridiculous idea out of your head!"
"Unfortunately, I cannot. I will have Diana by my side with or without her help”
“I don't think my ward will want to stay here any longer than necessary. Especially after what you put her through. Through your disgusting orders, she was hurt. Do you think she's going to do something you want?” Marcos's words pierced Lucian like sharp daggers. The wizard was right about that, thanks to the young master, Diana's blood had been spilled, so Lucian had little hope of having his wish granted.
The young master would have to find something to use against Marcos or Diana herself if he wanted to have the girl by his side. Lucian's instincts were telling himself that Marcos was hiding something. Would he be able to discover this information to use to his advantage?
