Chapter 2:

After school, Anna went home to get dressed for work and hurried out the door. It was a nice spring day, the sun was shining, birds were singing and there was a nice cool breeze. “This is so peaceful, I love walking, I could do this all day long,” Anna said. Anna often enjoyed walking to places because she loved the outdoors and nature. She went to work and came home late as usual. “I better go to sleep as fast as I can or I will be late for school,” Anna said. She got ready to go to bed because it was already late and she didn’t want to be tired at school.

It had been a couple of weeks since school started and Anna’s life was still the normal routine. One day she woke up and checked her alarm clock because she didn’t hear it ring. Right after she saw the time she jumped out of bed and quickly got ready. She had surprisingly slept through her alarm for the first time and was thirty minutes late for school. Once she got into class she saw someone sitting at her desk. She didn’t recognize him. She went up to him and kindly told him that this was her desk and that if he could, find another seat. He quickly apologized and explained that he was new to this school and that he did not know that it was her seat.
The teacher had been late again and so Anna luckily did not get in trouble for being late. The teacher arrived a few minutes later and told the new student to introduce himself. He then got up from his seat and walked up to the front of the class and said “Hello, my name is Devin. I was born and raised on Jeju island, but my parents decided to move here after hearing that my grandparents had become ill.”. The teacher had requested Anna to show Devin around after school because they were sitting beside each other. Anna was worried. She had work right after school and she was scared she wouldn’t be able to show Devin around.
After school Anna told Devin that she had work and that she could show him around this weekend. She apologized and then hurried to work. Later she came home and started thinking about what she had said to Devin. She felt bad and thought that she would have made a very bad impression on the new kid. She didn’t want to be late for school again so she freshened up, ate dinner and went to bed.
