Weapons filled the room, each one unique in their own way.
“ Go pick one weapon and we will get you fitted for armor afterwards.” Alexis says and waves her hand around the room.
I walk around and look for the quote unquote perfect sword. I look at each one, each having beautiful designs on it.
I end up picking a wooden bow with the symbol of Artemis on the handle. The Arrows were silver tipped and the feather was a silvery grey at the end.
Alexis must have liked my choice because she was smiling brightly at me as I knocked an arrow and aimed for a bag of flour from across the street. I took a deep breath, and shot the arrow hitting the bag in the very center.
Alexis clapped behind me “ Well done! I suppose that is your weapon of choice?”
I nod my head and smile. “ Yes it is.”
“Well I should tell Anassa you're ready to start training.” She walks away, her strides were confident and calm as though she could walk on water with the same steps, the same feet, the same concentrated expression.
I watched her leave and sprinted to Aeschylus to show him my new bow. I slammed the door open. He was still sewing, surprisingly enough.
He must not have noticed me come in because he didn’t even look up from his work. I walked behind him and tapped his shoulder.
“Hello!” I shouted excitedly.
He jumped and tried to hit me from getting scared. I took a side step so he missed but he was close.
“Oh, it’s just you. Hey!” His eyes trailed to my hands and he pointed “Nice bow, is that the symbol of Artemis?” His eyes were filled with curiosity.
“Yeah! This is.” I imitated Alexis “My weapon.”
We laughed. I pointed to his project. “How is that coming along?”
“Well, I messed up on the stitching so I had to start over. But otherwise it is coming along wonderfully.” He looked tired, more tired than I had ever seen him. Shadows under his eyes were dark, really dark. His eyes were bloodshot and his smile had vanished. I had only gone for a few minutes so I was worried if I hadn’t noticed till now.
He must have seen the worry form across my face because he quickly smiled and said “I will be fine after some rest.”
I glared at him with a concerned flare behind my eyes “ you’d better, I can’t have you dying on me now can I?”
“Of course not.” He half heartedly laughed and went back to work. “So you're a big shot already?” I couldn’t tell if he was mad or not so I just pretended he wasn’t.
