Well, that actually answered a lot of questions. He hadn't received a response when they were in the woods, or when they were in the car, and not even after they got to the vet and the boy could see that they were only trying to help.
He even thought the other was being cautious of them and, because of that, he didn't want to answer. After he asked the boy for his name during their trip to the clinic, only to get blatantly ignored, he shut his mouth. It was awkward for someone in his position to be neglected, but surprisingly enough he didn't get angry.
He was fine without getting things his way, he even waited like a whole five minutes before asking for his name again after they got into the clinic. Not that he was curious, he just needed to know. There was someone new in his territory and he knew nothing about it. The boy even got in trouble already and he was sure he hadn't been in town for more than three days. More than that and he would definitely know.
The boy being in trouble was just a little bit of his fault, but he did everything in his reach to try to fix the situation. Jenny was one of the pack's best doctors and she knew very well how to do her job. She just didn't expect to have to deal with a dog. Her clinic was a vet only by name, she mostly treated werewolves in their animal or human forms, but one time or another a human would appear with their pet cat or dog.
She didn't make a fuss about the surprise visit, it was obvious that it was an urgent situation. And after hearing the story, she also thought that bringing someone who was attacked by a rogue to her clinic was the best decision. Going to a human's vet would bring unwanted attention and a lot of questions. Humans could be undeniably nosy when they wanted to.
Not that he knew if or in which details the boy would tell someone about what happened.
Taking his eyes off the note and looking back to the boy, he made a motion with his hand asking for the pen. The other kept staring at him for a moment, first bewildered, followed by surprise, and then somewhat of an amused look. He was really expressive.
Grabbing the pen, he finally could ask the boy for his name, and as soon as he finished writing the question, he returned the pen and the paper to him. The smaller one took a moment to read and write down his answer. Maybe he was a bit curious because he took a step closer to the boy to watch him writing.
"Lowe Kasper" he muttered as he read the name on the paper. Taking the pen back, he asked "Why are you in town?" Lowe gave him a confused look, a glint of amusement in his eye while he wrote his answer. "Is this an interview?"
The question made him want to smile a little, it wasn't the answer he expected. He never needed to be smooth or care for the conversation's flow. Usually, he would ask something and people would answer. Simple as that. Anyway, he took some time thinking about his reply.
"No, but this is a small town. Everyone knows each other and I have never seen you before..." Maybe giving a broad answer would encourage him to talk more about himself. He offered the pen to the boy and the other took it, not thinking much before answering "I just moved here, I'll attend the college nearby".
It wasn't the enrollment season for college, so he probably asked for a transfer. They weren't exactly country bumpkins, but Apoena usually was not in people's first choice of place to live. That only made him more curious. No, not curious, intrigued.
He could think about another ten questions to ask the boy, but Lowe bit his lower lip and kept writing something new. "I need a cell phone, I left mine at home" and while he read the note, he could feel expecting eyes over himself.
He took his cell phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and handed it to the boy. The other smiled when he received it and eagerly started writing a message. After some time he grabbed the pen again and wrote on the paper "Can you write our location?" while he handed the phone back to him.
Taking a fast look in the text, he saw that Lowe was asking someone to come get him because he got in some trouble, but things were okay. He wrote the address to the clinic and pointed to the send button, arching an eyebrow and making a questioning look. As the other nodded, confirming it was okay for him to send it, he pressed the button.
The boy relaxed his body as if the person he contacted could solve all his problems. He was ready to go back to his interrogation, but Lowe was faster and wrote another question for him on their paper note.
"Your name?"
He contemplated the paper and then the boy's face. He was so concentrated on getting his answers that he forgot about something so simple as introducing himself. Everyone knew who he was, rarely he had to introduce himself. Having to think about how to act properly, in reality, how to act like a human, was fun. Almost smiling to himself, he wrote:
"Andrew Lopes".
