Akilah’s plan of using her old rabbit as bait to catch
another animal worked. She had made a slingshot and waited behind a tree to hit
and catch any animals that came near the dead rabbit, after much hassle Akilah
had managed to catch a small fox.
“Now all that's left was to skin you...a-alive”
Akilah knew what she had to do and that there was not
much time left before sunset, but she just could not bring herself to do it as
she looked down at the small fox, almost passed out from the rock that Akilah
had shot it with, squirming on the ground. ‘I... I do not…’
“SNAP OUT OF IT AKILAH!” She shouted as she held the knife at its head
“It's either this or going back to being a coward that betrayed Adara, JUST DO
IT!”
Akilah managed to gather enough adrenaline to force herself to skin the fox. She then followed the rest of the instructions and waited until sunset. When the sun had set, she completed the rest of the ritual and waited. Then suddenly, a fog surrounded her, the fog quickly covered everything in her surrounding, she could no longer even see her hands stretched out in front of her face.
Then all of a sudden, the fog disappeared as quickly
as it had appeared. Akilah quickly realized that she was no longer in the
forest. She looked around and saw nothing, it was just pitch-black darkness everywhere
she looked.
“Hello?” Akilah said with no response.
“Hellooo?” she said even louder, yet still no response, she slowly started to panic.
“IS ANYONE THERE?” Akilah shouted.
“Calm down.” A voice said.
The voice sent shivers down Akilah's spine. It was a deep and menacing voice, it sounded like a man’s voice but distorted and demonic. Akilah braced herself and slowly turned towards the direction of the voice, only to be faced with even more darkness.
“hello...?” Akilah said again this time with a quiver in her voice.
“Oh, were did all that confidence that you had earlier go?” The voice said now in a taunting tone.
Akilah could not see anything, and the voice was now bouncing around, sounding like it came from every direction.
“Who's there...?” Akilah asked, her voice now somewhat more stable.
“So, you are the pathetic human that dared
disobey the summoning rules.”
Akilah felt an immense aura around her, it felt suffocating. ‘So, this must
be X’ she thought.
“I... I didn't mean any disrespect...I just”
“You just what!”
Akilah’s legs had started to tremble, the voice was even more menacing when mad.
“Seems like you only came here to die.”
She suddenly remembered that she read about how X could take her life without
even granting her wish. She felt panic overtake her body. 'I'm done for’ she
thought to herself 'What am I going to do now?'
“However,” X said and took a pause.
'However? However
WHAT' Akilah frantically
thought.
“It has been a while since someone summoned me, and
from what I have seen your story seems interesting...enough”
This sent chills down Akilah's spine 'He has seen me? He has observed my situation,
and finds it interesting?' Akilah's mind was filled with fear and dread.
"What...You've, what," Akilah stopped herself, somehow despite the
panic, managing to come to her senses 'What did you expect Akilah, you are
making a deal with a supernatural being, this should not come as a surprise'.
“Shocked?” X asked, taunting her “Of course you would be. Those stupid little books never go
into detail about what we are, and what the true meaning behind
the ritual is”
“Well what are you and what is the true meaning behind...”
Akilah could not finish her sentence before the voice interrupted.
“Is that what you want to know? Is that your wis-”
Akilah interrupted X, she knew what he was going to say.
“NO! That is definitely not my wish, NOT AT ALL!”
What followed a long silence and then a blood-curdling
laughter pierces Akilah's ears, just as she was about to put her hands up to
her ears the laughter stopped.
“You dare interrupt me!”
Akilah felt the anger in his words 'Oh I messed up, I messed up big times, I
should not have done that!'
“I'M SORRY, I did not mean any disrespect,” Akilah blurted out.
Another wave of silence followed Akilah’s abrupt apology.
“Such insolence will not be tolerated again”
“I-I understand” Is all that Akilah managed to say, and silence filled the air once
again.
“Very well, what is your wish Akilah Amory?”
'Figures, he already knows my last name too...' Akilah thought as she
cleared her throat, stood up straight, looked right into the darkness in front
of her and answered.
“It's simple, I want power”
