Willow from Nowhere

The Hybrid

The Hybrid

Jul 13, 2021

Lokni and Reinard finally stepped up to them and herded the two into the waiting jet where the rest of the team stood in unmasked confusion. Reinard merely shook his head at the scientist and tech expert as he boarded the jet. Lokni went immediately to the cockpit and started up the giant beast. Reinard led Willow to a part of the plane with a few seats facing each other. He took one, Willow the other, and Donn stood leaning against the door casement. “So,” Willow began as Reinard opened his mouth, “what would you like to know exactly?” He narrowed his eyes slightly but said, “Who you are, what you are, what your powers are, and any other pertinent information.”

Willow just hummed for a moment and leaned back into the seat. Donn thought she looked odd there. Like she was too wild to be kept in the plane, and yet too small to fit the seat properly. Like she was the one in complete control of the situation, and yet merely moved with the wind. It was confusing and unnerving. “Well,” she began, glancing at Donn as though sensing his discomfort, “My name is Willow, but that is just a simplified version. In my language it sounds very different, but it would translate to something like WillowsEve, so you may call me Willow.” The rest of the team, barr Lokni, had already gathered outside the door casement to listen. “I am a hybrid of two species, shifter and mage. My powers have a wide breadth, so you'll need to be more specific. Even in this form I have enhanced senses.”

Her answers were so strange and paced so haltingly that there was a beat or more of silence while they processed her words. “You said you are a hybrid of two species. You are human, though?” Reinard asked. “No. I am a hybrid of shifter and mage, I am in no way human.” They were taken aback again for a moment. “You are alien, then? Not from this earth?” The two seemed unable to communicate. “No. I am very much of this earth. I suppose you are simply unaware of the other species that inhabit it aside from humans.” Her words sounded short with annoyance, but her expression was unchanged, her smile was in place.

Something I write in my free time. Chapters are very short and likely will stay that way.
S.H.I.E.L.D. kind of team but with a fantasy spin.
This special ops team gets a report of an undocumented supe and goes to investigate. What they find is a can of worms they didn't bargain for and a girl of oddities.

**Not professional and written mostly for my own entertainment. If you like it, I'm glad because I wanted to share it, but if not, then don't read it.
