“TODAY’S THE DAY” Elijae yelled as he jumped on top of me. 

I let out a groan. 

“What day?”

Elijae looked quite offended and then dramatically said, “ How could you do this to me, my love, do I mean nothing to you.”

“At 6 am yeah, you do mean nothing to me.”

“Your words wound me”

I then decide to push him off my bed. I then get up and go check out my calendar to see what this fuss is about.

“June 1st, What's so special about June 1st?”

Elijae now standing beside me gasps.

“HOW COULD YOU FORGET”

“Forget what?” I really didn’t want Elijae to ignore me for a week because I probably forgot a date or something, but lying to him was hard too. 

Elijae looked at me ashamed. 

“Pride month”

I looked at him. He looked at me.

“Isn’t pride month in May? “

Elijae then walks out of the room yelling don’t talk to me.

 

“ Oh come on It was a joke,” I lied.

“So what do we have planned?”

Elijae immediately turned around and wrapped his arms around me. “We will hang out watch a movie, go on dates -

The list went on and I kind of zoned out after the first two things. I started thinking most of those things we would be outside, together, with people watching, and if I was sure of one thing I wasn’t ready for that.

- So are you okay with that” Elijae smiled. 

I should say no. 

I’m not ready.

I can’t do this.

I look at his face ready to say no but, that smile… 

And of course, I answered…

“Of course!”

Elijae’s smile became wider.

“Okay, how about today we go out shopping! I heard most malls have already finished decorating the pride section!” 

“Yeah..”, I knew I should have been honest with my feelings but that smile ... I couldn’t ruin it. 

After a few minutes.

There was a mall right across the street we walked there. Elijae was doing most of the talking while I was thinking about what I should do.
